Back in January, Governor Brian Kemp appointed Dr. Seth to serve on the State Board of Veterinary Medicine, and on March 19th his family had the privilege of participating in his official swearing-in ceremony.
A close friend of ours joked that morning about how Governor Kemp must've had to scroll through a long list of veterinarians to find Seth. While I might be a bit biased, I truly believe there’s no one more deserving of this honor. Seth’s dedication to veterinary medicine is something you can’t fully appreciate unless you see it up close — which his family has had the privilege of doing since before he even finished vet school. We’ve witnessed the long hours, late-night emergency calls, and endless days of work that most people don’t see or understand. He’s the sole owner/operator of his practice, Hillside Veterinary Services, balancing everything from taking care of patients to bookkeeping and even answering the phone. (So, if he doesn’t answer, please leave a voicemail or follow up with a text — chances are he’s out on a farm taking care of an animal. And we promise, y’all probably talk to him more than his wife does!) But beyond all of that, he takes the time to educate the owners, and build relationships that will last a lifetime.
In addition to being an incredible veterinarian, Seth is a child of God, a devoted husband and father, a loving son, a loyal friend, a school community partner, and a county commissioner. He wears so many hats, and does it all with such grace, heart, and commitment to following God’s will.
This opportunity came into our lives when we least expected it, and truthfully, we weren’t even looking for it. One thing we must always remember is that God's plans for our lives is far greater than anything we could ever plan for ourselves.
