Get To Know Dr. Holton

Dr. Edward Holton was born in Washington, Georgia and raised in Evans, Georgia. He has lived in the Dawson-Cumming area for the last 28 years. He graduated from UGA with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1985 and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1994. Dr. Holton has practiced veterinary medicine in the North Georgia area since graduating in 1994 and established his own veterinary practice in Dawsonville in 1997.

Dr. Holton is very involved and active in the community by his volunteer work with the ‘Meals on Wheels’ program at the Dawsonville Senior Center and the Dawson County Humane Society at which he a member of the Board. He is also an active member of the Dawson County Rotary Club, Dawson County Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church.

On his time off he enjoys spending time with his wife, Patty, and their twin sons, James and Matthew. They have 4 dogs at home: Meghan (hound mix), Trouble (shepherd mix), Michelle (English Bulldog), and Buster (Pointer). Dr. Holton and his sons have also begun raising Jersey Dairy Cows and are the proud owners of H2 Jersey Farms where they enjoy caring for their ‘prized’ show cows as a family.

Dr. Holton’s favorite part of practicing veterinary medicine is that he is able to be the ‘family doctor’ for your pet and gets to know your family as well. Dr. Holton is very diverse in his knowledge of species and is able to treat and perform surgery on small animals as well as large farm animals and even a few exotics. Dr. Holton takes great pride in his community and the services he provides by having a veterinary hospital staffed with highly qualified personnel and state of the art medical equipment.
