Mr Rupp here for boarding having a blast with Moon!
Here is Mr Huey! He is 14 years old and this was his first time with a groomer! Mom was a bit worried about how he would do, so I recorded the session for her. He did so well. There were times he was a bit unsure but going slow and supporting him the whole way made him more comfortable. All he really wanted to do was be held. Good boy Huey!!
**please excuse my face the entire time apparently my concentration face is a straight up frown...π
I swear I'm happy though.**
Training is LEARNING! Moon caught a scent and ignored me for a few seconds. So I just went back to basics and rewarding for attention! Eventually he brought his attention back to me, and I made sure I was ready to reward him, and then we continued with our session!

Working on place and holding place in a VERY distracting environment!
Mr Moon working on seeing some small animals moving behind glass! The only thing Moon is reactive to is animals on TV! π€£ So I though cats behind a glass would simulate the same thing. He did wonderfully! Even with all the trigger stacking at the end. With the kids, people, and carts! Good boy!
πΎGame to ease tension at the vetπΎ
Targeting can be a great way to keep your pet busy, and happy while waiting for the vet to come into the room!
Here is Tinkerbell waiting for our vet. There is lots going on outside both doors! But she can stay happy playing with me!
My guy Domino looking handsome!
Scissoring Domino the Bernedoodle
Snippets of Mr Domino's groom the other day! I wanted to show just a tiny example of how much detail and work goes into grooming a doodle. And how much cooperation there has to be from the dog. He is a Bernedoodle. He is quite large and has lots of great hair! Hand scissoring the head and legs instead of using a clipper and guard comb. is a great way to keep the haircut looking balanced and the dog proportional. But it is definitely a high maintenance haircut! I see this boy every 2 weeks for bath and brush out. With a haircut every 4th visit!
As you can see Domino is the BEST boy, and extremely cooperative. Not many dogs stand so still and are so patient with the process. He takes me 3 hours to do a full groom on, so we both have learned to get into the groove. I just love this guy. He is one of the last large dogs left on my schedule. He's very special. π₯°
Sent this to a colleague of mine today while doing Mr Mickeys groom. And I wanted to share it here too!
Let me tell you about this dog! I first started grooming him about 3 years ago when I still worked at a shop. Mr Mickey is a very nervous boy, and needs lots and lots of patience and reassurance during the groom. He would get pretty anxious and shut down at the shop. With all the loud noise, hussle and bussle and other dogs. While most dogs are fine with a shop, Mickey wasn't. So I worked him through his grooms slowly. The way he showed his anxiety on the table at the shop was a full display of teeth, growling, snapping, thrashing, and over all being a very dangerous pup to groom. But its not his fault.
When I left the shop to go out on my own with mobile, I didn't see mickey for about a year. Then one day I get a call from a guy wanting his cattle dog groomed, and when he filled out the client intake form, I saw Mr Mickey in the picture!!! It was him! He was so thrilled when I called him back and told him who I was! Apparently no one else could successfully groom Mickey!
So this video is a testimony to what individual attention, an experienced professional, good energy, and a quiet environment can do for a dogs nerves for grooming. Today we did the entire groom, besides shaving his feet, without a muzzle! And even had some fun howling together too.
So glad to have you in the Tidy Toes family Mickey!
