Vienna’s first day in the ring as a special, and she came in swinging- with a Best of Opposite and Owner-Handler Best Of Breed, 5pt major towards her GCH in a beautiful lineup of cattle dogs. She continues to blow me away.

Congratulations to all the winners this weekend, it was a great time visiting with friends and seeing some great dogs!

Today pending AKC confirmation, we have a new Bred-By Champion!

Finished her Championship today at Purina Farms with a BOW 5pt major. This girl has always shown like a rockstar, I’m honored to be at the end of her leash, and know we will keep having fun together.

-STEELE VALLEY CLUSTER- Official Wrap Up

Our crew had an awesome three days at this show, we participated in FastCat, Conformation, and Dock.

FastCat:
We had some great runs, with the girls throwing out some new personal bests this weekend. Our best runs were:
Vienna 7.820 seconds (26.15mph)
Denim 7.869 seconds (25.99mph)
Cash 8.077 seconds (25.32mph)
Denim also earned her DCAT title!

Conformation:
All three girls showed well. Lacie went Select Bitch on Friday for a 4pt major towards her GCH. Vienna took Reserve Winners Bitch on Saturday. She redeemed herself by going Winners on Sunday (unfortunately the major broke, but I am proud nonetheless).

Dock:
Cash earned his ASX (Air Retrieve Senior Excellent) title, and made his last qualifying jump for NADD Regionals this year. Denim and Lacie had more good distance jumps. Lacie is now one leg away from her Dock Junior title! She also hit a new PB of 13’3”. For just starting in July, I know she’s got a lot left to give yet.

We enjoyed ourselves at this show and were happy for the opportunity to hang out with some much-missed friends and dog show family. A big thank you to all those who helped us with our dogs and spent time with us this weekend. Congratulations to all the winners!

The Cambridge, MN Summer Solstice Cluster is a wrap! We only attended Saturday-Sunday, but in that time our crew did all the things, and we came away with some great memories.

Saturday
Conformation- Denim took a Best of Opposite win from the classes for a 3pt major! Lacie took Select Bitch.
Barnhunt- Denim had an excellent run in the Open class, winning High In Class with a time of 1:02!
Fast Cat- all of our guys ran, and Vienna and Lacie finished their BCAT titles!
Dock- Cash rocked his distance jumps, putting up a 19’ 9”, his best for the weekend.

Sunday
Conformation- Lacie took Best of Breed for a 3pt major towards her grand, with a champion defeat. Vienna took Winners Bitch and Denim took reserve. We had to take a win photo of the trio to celebrate the family affair!
Barnhunt- Denim NQ’d but had a stellar time hunting, and is only one Q away from her RATO title.
Fast Cat- Denim and Cash ran their usual speedy times while the others cheered them on.
Dock- Cash had two more solid distance jumps in preparation for NADD Regionals.

All in all, our dogs worked hard for us and enjoyed participating in all that was offered at this event. It was nice seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new friends. Looking forward to the next show!

This weekend our girls had a great time showing at the Janesville-Beloit KC show. Results were as follows:

Saturday Lacie BOS, Denim WB, Vienna reserve

Sunday Vienna BOS, Denim reserve, Lacie Select Bitch

I’m very happy with how they all showed, and was thankful for the opportunity to spend time with our dog show friends and family. We also enjoyed some down time with a trip to the farm store to look at baby chickies, handing out pig ears to all the dogs and watching the Derby. We are looking forward to a dogsports-filled summer with some fun shows sprinkled in.

I’m happy to announce that the Excelsior crew has moved to Wisconsin! We are excited to be here with loved ones, in the land of many new dog sport opportunities. Of course, we will still come down to visit our Ohio and Kentucky dog show friends and family at some of our favorite cluster shows. We are looking forward to a fun sport-filled summer!

Today me and Vienna started a new adventure, with our first ever flyball practice! We’re excited to learn more about the sport and see where it takes us.

As always, I’m so thankful to have Marisa’s support and guidance in trying something new. Thanks to team Blue Past You for putting on a great open practice and being so welcoming.

Today at the Fort St Clair kennel club show, Denim took Winners Bitch, and showed so well for me! She’s starting to really enjoy herself. We signed up for Saturday only, and I failed to nab a picture of her at the fairgrounds, so her post-bath glamor shot will have to do the trick. Looking forward to more shows and lots of sports events over the summer with this girl ❤️

We are still waiting on FastCat pics from the Kentuckiana cluster for me to make a full recap post, but Denim and Marisa deserve a brag post all their own.

This was Marisa’s first time in the ring as a handler, and as a pair they collectively killed it; taking 2nd in their class Friday, then Reserve Winners on Saturday for the huge ACDCA Regional Specialty, and 1st in their class on Sunday. Most importantly, they had fun and were not afraid to have some play and shenanigans in the ring during down time. Their future in the show ring together looks bright.

But they didn’t stop with conformation. Denim earned her Barnhunt Novice title, enjoying the sniffy games and unphased by being asked to work and still hunt the ratties at a brand new place.

Denim also put up some awesome FastCat runs, hitting her usual 24mph range, earning some more points towards her DCAT title.

Over at Dock, Denim had a successful jump, hitting 9’ 2”.

All weekend long Denim was a rockstar in the event center, receiving attention from lots of people and being a great representative of our breed. She showed a lot of maturity in how she handled it all, and I’m reminded of how much she has grown and achieved all before 2 years old.

To say that I’m proud of this team is a huge understatement, and can’t wait to see all that they accomplish together this year.

It’s about time I made an official announcement for this breeding. These pups will be obligate clear for PLL/PRA, raised with Puppy Culture protocols, BAER hearing and Volhard temperament tested before leaving. I do still have some availability on my wait list for this breeding; please inquire now if you are interested in a puppy. We only made it down for one day of the Lexington cluster this year (Sunday 9/3), but Vienna and I had a great day, taking Reserve Winners Bitch in a large entry of nice class bi***es. I continue to be proud of how she’s maturing and starting to really enjoy this showdog stuff 😎 Congratulations to all the winners this weekend!

Please Don't Forget Your Breeder...

I knew from day one not every puppy could stay. Preparing them for life took many hours each day. I love every minute watching them develop and thrive. Helping them discover the world fills me with pride. The weeks are numbered, never enough time. I worry, even though I know the puppies will be fine. I trust you with this puppy and hope you understand, I handpicked you and expect you to follow the plan. Continue to provide new experiences each day, never stop training and always include play. I will never forget my puppies and will always be here, please provide them the best for the rest of their years. No matter how long ago your baby was here, not staying in touch in my biggest fear.

Lacie had to have a mini maternity shoot. She goes into the vet later this week for her puppy count x ray. Right now she is very round, happy, and looking forward to raising babies.

Well Lacie and I had a great weekend at the Crawford County KC show. We took Best of Breed on Saturday, and Darwin rode along for moral support, they both got their CERF eye exam done and passed with normal results. Lacie loves to show and is such a fun girl. These two are just the best and I can’t wait to see what they produce this summer. 🥰🥰

This morning in Wilmington, Lacie went Best Of Opposite over specials, earning her first point! Her half brother Ripley went Best of Breed. Thank you to Lacie’s breeder Sarah Lane for presenting her so nicely.
