Meet Dixie! Dixie is a German Shepherd who is a bit too excited to meet cats. Well, she WAS. Dixie is currently in board and train and after a full day of cat exposure and desensitization training, she's well on her way to being able to resist the temptation of chasing and nipping at cats.

Let's talk about Felix!
Felix is a 6-7 year old lab / greyhound mix. Don't let the age fool you though, this boy is puppy at heart. He loves toys, a good game of fetch and long walks. He's dog and cat friendly and the mailman was his best friend in his former home. He'd be fantastic with kids!
Felix is only looking for a home because his owner passed away.
Felix's Christmas wish is a new forever home. He keeps his kennel tidy (aside from the occasional shredded toy). He's excited to meet you!

Big news! I'm starting to offer one on one weekly obedience classes in my building. These would be 30 minute classes with you, me and your dog. Availability would be mon, Tues, wed, and Fridays. All business hours are available and evening hours (before 5:30) can be arranged.
Cost for (5) 30 minute classes is $150. Your dog needs to be up to date on all vaccines, preferably kennel cough as well.

UPDATE: Casey's popcorn chicken jogged his memory. Turns out he knows sit, shake, other paw, down and roll over.

I picked up Kingston this morning and he is now at Bark Avenue until his forever family finds him. You guys, this dog has been overlooked basically just because he's a black dog! Did you know that shelters usually have black dogs and cats the longest?
So first impressions: He gives AMAZING hugs! He's calm, quiet, shakes your hand upon meeting like any true gentleman.
He's almost 2 years old and is a lab / heeler mix. 2 super smart breeds and I can definitely see that desire to learn and please in him. We're going to start training tomorrow.
He's house trained, he goes to the door when he wants out. He doesn't mark (he's a squatter). He's neutered and up to date. He is cat friendly, dog friendly and would be a child's best friend. Or your best friend.
We're going to focus on basic obedience, as he is a jumper when he's excited. He already knows shake and I feel like he knows sit, he just needs a refresher course. I think he's going to be fun to train, and I might throw in some fun tricks, depending on how long he's here.

A few topics to post on:
1. We've had a few no shows this week. Our kennels are booked up, especially this month. Please call us if you aren't going to make your appointment. It's not fair to the numerous people we've turned down thinking we were full. I don't want to charge for no shows, but it may happen if the problem continues. I appreciate your cooperation!
2. This weekend is the 4th Holiday weekend. If your pet is boarding here over the weekend and they are nervous about fireworks - please bring any calming items you might have for them already. I will do my best to have tvs turned up a bit with classical music and try to drown out the noise as best I can. I also have OTC calming treats available by request only. There is a $2 charge per dose. Feel free to ask about them and their ingredients if interested.

I want your pets to be as at home and comfortable as possible! Beginning Wednesday, I'll also offer licky mats for boarders. Dogs naturally lick when bored or anxious. The licky mats stick to the wall, smothered in peanut butter, yogurt (or other treats you can choose from). The textures offer a satisfying enrichment and calming effect. Licky mats will be included during all baths at no extra charge.
Ask about including a licky mat during your next board!
Can be used for cats, too!

Does your dog have anxiety while boarding? Calm in boarding unless there's a storm or fireworks? We always recommend you speak to your veterinarian for tips and meds if needed.
We are now offering over the counter calm down treats if necessary. We have 2 different varieties. One is herbal, with chamomile and melatonin. The second is a CBD treat. You can request these treats when you board. There will be a $2 charge per dose. We will ONLY give if you ask them to be. The bottles are available here for inspection so you can see ingredients.

I'm looking to hire a part time person to work a few hours on the weekends. Duties may include cleaning kennels, feeding dogs and cats, walking dogs, checking in / out our furry guests. Must be responsible and have a strong work ethic. Position is in Dayton, IA. MUST LOVE ANIMALS.
