We are incredibly proud to share that our very own Kristina Hill, One Health Program Manager at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, has been named as a co-author of the newly released Social Work in Animal Welfare Best Practices & Guidelines Manual published by the International Association of Veterinary Social Work.
As a licensed social worker and leader of our One Health Program, Kristina is on the front lines of helping people and pets stay together. Every day, she supports pet owners navigating housing instability, food insecurity, grief, neglect cases, elder care, hoarding, and mental health challenges. She ensures that while our team cares for an animalโs needs, their human receives support, too.
Her contribution to these first-ever international best practice guidelines helps solidify what we already know: social work is essential to animal welfare. When you care for people, you protect their pets and when both are supported, entire communities thrive.
Please join us in congratulating Kristina for using her expertise to promote a more compassionate future for pets and the people who love them on a big scale!
