“Wait a minute, Mom… I thought we were going to the dog park?!🤔”

Beau, our adorable 7-month-old visitor, recently stopped by for a wellness check and heartworm test—but by the look on his face (and that ball in his mouth), we think he had other plans! 😆 His mom shared these hilarious photos of him making himself right at home in the exam room, and we just had to share! 🥰

If your pet was chipped with a Save This Life Microchip, you will need to re-register their chip with a new company!

Save This Life Microchips has suddenly shut down without notice. This means that all pet microchips registered with STL have been unlinked from national databases, making it impossible for shelters and veterinary hospitals to retrieve owner contact information if a lost pet is found.

Thanks to the incredible support of BISSELL Pet Foundation and their Fix the Future national spay & neuter initiative, we teamed up with phenomenal veterinarians to make a HUGE impact for community cats!

In just FOUR DAYS, our dedicated team at Dayton Humane Spay & Neuter Clinic, alongside visiting veterinarians, successfully performed 180 spay/neuter surgeries for TNR community cats! This means fewer homeless kittens, healthier community cat colonies, and a brighter future for cats in need.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Lost Pet Owners Beware! 🚨

If you’ve posted your contact information on local lost and found pet pages, please be aware of a new scam targeting pet owners. Scammers are using these posts to call and pretend to be from area animal shelters, claiming that your pet has been found but is sick, injured, or in immediate surgery. They will then try to scam you out of money for "emergency medical costs."

⚠️ If you receive a call like this:
❌ DO NOT give them any financial information over the phone.
❌ DO NOT send money via cash apps, gift cards, or wire transfers.
✅ HANG UP and contact the shelter directly to confirm if your pet is actually there.
✅ REPORT any scam calls to your local authorities immediately.

Please share this warning to protect others in our community! Stay vigilant and spread awareness.

We had a hauntingly good time at our Spooky Snips TNR event this past Sunday! Our dedicated vet staff from HSGD and several other organizations came together to volunteer their time, and the results are purr-fect!

We were able to spay and neuter a staggering 96 community cats! This will have a fang-tastic impact on controlling the feral cat population in our area. THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered their time and expertise to make this event possible!

This sweet 15-year-old senior came to us struggling with arthritis pain that was significantly impacting their quality of life. Our dedicated veterinary team worked diligently to find the perfect pain management solution, and now, with monthly injections, this pup is feeling much better and enjoying life to the fullest!

Charlie came in to see us for a skin condition called Ichthyosis. Despite this, he's a happy and healthy boy! While visiting, he got to pick out a Halloween costume from our donated items! Isn't he adorable? Thanks to everyone who donates to our donation station - your generosity brings so much joy to animals in our community!

This sweet girl came in for a visit today and found a stuffie at our donation station. She couldn't resist taking it with her and carried it around for the entire appointment! Hurricane Helene has wreaked havoc on many parts of our country this past weekend. Between lives lost, extreme flooding and destruction to properties, it has been a tragic disaster for many areas. Here at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, we want to do our part to help the people and pets in need during this emergency situation and are currently working with national groups to lend our support and see if we can help transport animals out of these extremely dangerous areas.

However, to do this we need your help. Would you be willing to be a temporary foster for one of these animals? We can only help as many as we have foster homes for as our shelters are currently full. If you are willing to open your hearts and homes to help take in an animals, please fill out our foster application now at www.hsdayton.org/foster and we will add you to our list of temporary fosters. Time is of the essence and these situations are becoming more severe as time goes on. The more we have sign up as fosters, the more animals we can help.
