As of June 2019, the SICSA Pet Adoption Center is thrilled to take ownership of the Pet Wants Dayton business. Stew, Dan, and Keith have been amazing pioneers in the Dayton pet nutrition arena, and we are excited to continue their pioneering spirit, which very much matches our own at SICSA. In 1974, a group of dedicated individuals committed to offering Kettering, Dayton, and the Greater Miami Val

ley an alternative to the traditional animal welfare system came together and created the Society for the Improvement of Conditions for Stray Animals (SICSA). More than 45 years later, people in the Greater Miami Valley have been Volunteering, Adopting, Donating, and Advocating for SICSA in a partnership of caring to build a strong, humane community for today and into the future. In 2019, the SICSA Pack and Pet Wants realized the similarities in our goals and our missions to help animals live healthier, happier lives. Both the SICSA Pack and Pet Wants were standing up to make a difference. We understood that, by combining our efforts, we could increase our impact on animals, pet families, and our community. That’s when SICSA took ownership of Pet Wants Dayton. Now that SICSA owns Pet Wants Dayton, proceeds from your purchase of our food and products support SICSA and our animals directly. By supporting Pet Wants Dayton you are saying yes to quality nutrition for your pets, but also to the SICSA mission which promotes the welfare and adoption of companion pets, while nurturing the loving lifelong relationships between animals and people. On this day we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement. As Dr. King said in his Letter From Birmingham, Alabama Jail, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." With this in mind, we must acknowledge the role we each play in not only speaking, but acting for justice. It is our responsibility to not only uphold the legacy of Dr. King today, but every day. One quote does not do justice to the lifetime of service and commitment to freedom Dr. King exemplified. Rather, it serves as a reminder for the role we each must play in the long march toward a more just and equitable society for all.
