Armadillidium Corcyraeum

This not so main stream isopod makes a great addition to any collection for most bioactive enclosures. They are very prolific once established and tend to be more out and about once their numbers are up to more than a handful. The mancea are typically brownish and will get their darker coloration with age. They display random white spotting on a dark base as adults.

Care for these guys is not demanding. The same as A. Vulgare. 20-25% of the enclosure moist and the rest average to light humidity. They don’t fare well in tropical high humidity set ups as this may cause molting issues. Plenty of leaf litter as their primary food source and they very much enjoy the occasional carrot slice and some protien like freeze dried shrimp, minnow or fish pellets. Supplemental calcium like cuttle bone is devoured readily.

Pictured below:
Porcellio Scaber- Skewbald Tri

Skewbald Tri is a combination of the calico and piebald morphs. The genetic mutation will vary between individuals. The calico patterning is expressed primary in the females since that genetic trait is s*x linked, but the piebald trait will be evident on nearly all individuals. Piebald can be suttle as a white antenna to entire segments varying in pigmentation. The end result is a highly visually appealing group ranging in coloration and pattering. P. Scaber is a fantastic easy to care for isopod ideal for beginners.
