The Mission of Mary Cooperative is a 501c3 organization that operates a network of urban farm locations on the eastside of Dayton. We strive to form community in our neighborhood around the food that we grow and the land that we care for. We are committed to participating in a just food system that ensures all are able to access and afford healthy food options. We have been growing and distributin

g healthy, chemical free produce since 2010 and continue to expand our growing operations. We operate a 24 week CSA membership program with a dual price model, a seasonal farm stand, and several youth and adult educational programs seasonally. The evolution of Mission of Mary Cooperative is on-going and we are excited to share this journey with you. Please visit our webpage www.missionofmary.org or e-mail us at [email protected] to get in touch.

This week we harvested our garlic patch! We’re using the barn attic to cure the fresh garlic so that it will last longer. The smell in there should be plenty strong enough to ward off any vampires 😅🧛🏼‍♀️

First harvest of the season! Today we picked, washed, bundled, labeled, and stored several bins of lettuce, chard, and beets. As one of our interns said, “there’s something about staring at these big beautiful heads of lettuce that just makes you want to chomp into one.”

Thank you so much to our volunteers today! We had students from Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Psi, and REAL Dayton (plus a few others!) come out for a big morning of volunteering at the farm. We weeded, covered 15 beds with compost, and replaced the plastic on one of our greenhouses. We couldn’t do what we do without this kind of community support!

One snowman said to the other snowman… "do you smell carrot?”

😂⛄️❄️

This is our Education and Outreach Coordinator, Dan, keeping the wheels moving!

Although we aren’t harvesting heavily during our winter months we are still hard at work here at Mission of Mary. Winter is the time for the season maintenance, repairs, replenishing, laying the beds to rest for the season, and planning.

From the Farm Team at Mission of Mary we wish to all celebrating Hanukkah a beautiful season of light.

“That which we are doing carries with it the extension that it has for outside of ourselves.”

- Rabbi Abraham Shemtov, National Memorial Hanukkah Lighting 2023

We hope that during the season of light and this holiday season that each and everyone of you remembers the light within yourselves. We hope that your inner light and love leads you to the passions that help create a beautiful and more positive world. The light you shine may light the spark and hope for those around you. Always keep your light bright and true to yourself.

Happy Holidays and Happy Hanukkah to all of those in observance.
