Now that July has come, we’re excited to announce our next community event! Saturday, July 13, MetroParks staff will be providing an opportunity for us to slow down, unplug, and pay attention to our surroundings - then express that through art! We hope to see you there :)

This week we harvested our garlic patch! We’re using the barn attic to cure the fresh garlic so that it will last longer. The smell in there should be plenty strong enough to ward off any vampires 😅🧛🏼‍♀️

First harvest of the season! Today we picked, washed, bundled, labeled, and stored several bins of lettuce, chard, and beets. As one of our interns said, “there’s something about staring at these big beautiful heads of lettuce that just makes you want to chomp into one.”

🪴’tis the season!🪴 many of our seedlings are about ready to transplant, and we’re approaching the predicted last frost date, so - time for a plant sale! 🥳

Thank you so much to our volunteers today! We had students from Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Psi, and REAL Dayton (plus a few others!) come out for a big morning of volunteering at the farm. We weeded, covered 15 beds with compost, and replaced the plastic on one of our greenhouses. We couldn’t do what we do without this kind of community support!

The Lincoln Hill Early Learning Center preschool being built next to our Lincoln Hill Gardens is slotted to serve 250 kids 6 wks.-5 yrs. of age starting in 2025.

A construction company is building the new Lincoln Hills Early Childhood Center at the corner of Nassau Street and Demphle Avenue. It'll accommodate 250 youth, infants to preschool.

A message from your farmers 🎄

We hope everyone near and far had a very Merry Christmas and that the light and joy of the season finds its way to your heart with an abundance of warmth and love. Mission of Mary reflects on a blessed year and we celebrate with joy the accomplishments we have made. We hope that our kindness continues to bring joy, peace, and a stronger sense of community to the neighborhood we love and serve. Thank you to each and everyone who helps make our mission possible throughout the year.

Although we aren’t harvesting heavily during our winter months we are still hard at work here at Mission of Mary. Winter is the time for the season maintenance, repairs, replenishing, laying the beds to rest for the season, and planning.
