Serenity Valley Farm: Equine Education and Training Center

Serenity Valley Farm: Equine Education and Training Center Located just west of Dayton, Ohio, SVF is a new equestrian education facility.
(10)

SVF's goal is to become a top notch Equestrian Education facility with plans to host a variety of schooling shows and clinics throughout the year, as well as be able to offer a training facility for both a limited number of boarders as well as haul in clientele. While our passions run towards the english disciplines of dressage and eventing, we hope equestrians of all disciplines can find the educational opportunities they need at SVF in the future.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the dressage show on Saturday. Bit warm by afternoon, bit dusty, but some wonderful rides were shown! We're so thankful for all the support of our shows - and always willing to hear suggestions for improvement! But really -- we're just grateful to be able to do what we do and have people enjoy it. Love seeing the photos everyone posts -- feel free to put them in the comments!

Almost forgot -- THANK YOU to our fantastic skeleton crew staff (Diane, Laura, Brenna, Debbie, Sande, Alexandra, and of course Anita)!! And a huge shout out to anyone who did anything to help out! From repairing a knocked over arena, to coaching, reading tests, to cleaning up any trash you might have found. We really have the BEST people at our shows!!! 🥰

Next show is our "Halloween" dressage show on September 28. 👻🎃We have started to get entries so feel free to send them in asap! Remember we take a slightly longer lunch break to do our costume contest -- can be riding or leading the horse. Awards for those judged "best" (categories to be determined by our judges on the day!) and treats for all! Safe costumes can be worn for your judged rides (remember... ALL who are riding MUST have a helmet... so keep that in mind for your costumes if you want to ride in it).

In the meantime... Congrats to our Champions this weekend!🥳🥳
Champion: Arianna Collins & GITT Baron's Limited Edition (Intro B - 72.5%)
Reserve Champion: Holly Gossett & Tully (Intro C - 71.0%)
Champion: Jill O'Banion & O'Ban Joe (Eventing Novice B - 72.222%)
Reserve Champion: Abigail Atkins & Bindi (Western Basic 4 - 69.231%)

TIP High Score: Amanda Munson & Strawberry (First Test 1 - 67.593%)

Have had a couple scratches for this Saturday's DLSC Dressage show, so if anyone is still wanting to join the fun on Saturday, please let me know ASAP. $25/class... $15 office fee... $10 late fee.

Attached to this post you will find the current entry list - with "needs" attached. Remember if you have a signature need, that is just the signed entry form... you can send it, bring it, or sign one at the show. If your need is a coggins, you must either send it or show it when you check in. Failure to show a current negative coggins (within the year) will result in being asked to leave the show grounds with no refunds.

Also attached... RIDE TIMES! In alphabetical order by rider first name. There is a chance they may change slightly this week, but this is what I am 90% sure will be the schedule for the day. Things to note or remember:
1- Ring 1 starts at 8am as it will warm up a bit on Saturday compared to today (typing this I'm wearing a hoodie). Ring 2 runs 9am to 12:30pm.
2- while ring 2 is running, the wash rack will be off limits to horses. Once Ring 2 is finished, the wash rack will be open for use (please clean up after your horse).
3- Parking for all but SVF boarders, show officials, volunteers, and disabled guests will be in the normal parking pasture (gate is right on the road just north of the driveway. Gate should be open by 6:45am .. if you need in before then, please let me know so I can make it happen.
4- No dogs please
5- Warm up in the morning will be (Ring 1) the sand to the south/treeline side of the big arena and (Ring 2) the grass pasture in front of the barn. In the afternoon, riders will have the option to use Ring 2 AS warm up if they wish.
6- Don't forget if you have a TIP registered or eligible horse, let me know! We do have TIP awards!
7- Concessions on site... as well as I might have a few things put out for sale (several blankets and some miscellaneous tack). The sale items depend on whether I have time to pull it all out this week... the concessions though WILL be available (including a Keurig for coffee and hot chocolate).
8- Judges will be Diane Owen (Ring 1) and Laura Beaver (Ring 2)

If you have any questions or concerns on the schedule, please let me know ASAP so I can have a chance to adjust it. Look forward to seeing everyone!

Thank you again to all who are supporting next weekend's dressage show! We ARE hiring a 2nd judge and will be running classes in both arenas during the morning. We do, however, still have a waitlist so PLEASE if something happens and you are unable to attend, let me know asap. If we can fill your spot, you get your class fees refunded.

We do still need a lot of signatures and coggins. No worries, you can bring those with you (or sign an entry when you check in).

We ARE doing Champion & Reserve Champion T.I.P. Awards, so please let me know if your horse is eligible. Remember, if your horse is eligible, it must be registered with T.I.P. - but that registration is FREE! https://tjctip.com/MEMBERLOGIN

If your name is not on this list of accepted entries and you believe it should be, please reach out to me ASAP! (Riders listed twice have more than 1 horse competing)

Still debating on entering the (DLSC) Dressage show on the 24th? Have a thoroughbred who is TIP eligible?

If you answered Yes to both (or even just to the second question really), you're in luck! Serenity Valley has joined The Jockey Club in presenting High Score (and Reserve High Score) T.I.P. awards at BOTH our dressage shows this season.

Get those entries in by Sunday to be sure to have a spot!

Thanks you to everyone who came out to the CT/Derby today! We were a small but mighty group! Hope every had fun (it looked like it). I was having too much fun and, as usual, didn't manage to get any pictures...but I'm LOVING seeing everyone's pics. Congrats to all on some wonderful riding!

Parking, etc.
I hope this map makes sense. I'm hoping to have someone (possibly me) hanging around to help direct at least til all the trailers arrive.

Trailers... follow the pink ... up the driveway and enter the grass parking area next to the barn. This way you will be, depending on arrival, either pointing directly at the driveway to pull out to leave... or pointing towards the arena where you can drive out and turn around in the hay field between the arena and woods/creek to get turned around to leave.

Cars... I think there will be plenty of car parking (found in blue). Note that car parking in front of hte barn will be restricted until all the trailers arrive. Main parking for cars will be in my front yard and in the grass just off the driveway. Please do NOT block the entrance to the warm up rings (aka gates to pastures) or the driveway coming from the trailer parking area.

Horse traffic... see green.
Dressage... from trailer parking, walk up the driveway, across the driveway, and into the front field via the gate next to the barn. When it's your turn, go out the other gate on the far side of the barn... and just past the paddock is the gate to enter dressage (the fenced arena). To exit, your choice... same gate or the far gate out of the arena.

REMEMBER... Wash rack is off limits until Dressage is complete.

Jumping... Up the driveway into the pasture behind the house via the gate at the top. When it's your turn, there is a "hole" in the fence at the far end.

Any questions... please ask!

Derby Course Maps

Any jumps inside the square are SJ fences in the sand arena. Jumps outside the square are XC fences.

Grasshopper has 2 options:
1) Jump 8 will be flagged so you can jump the vertical or the crossrail side of the fence.
2) Jump 14 will be flagged so you can jump up the small bank OR go up the ramp with the SJ fence at the top.
Also for Grasshopper, Fence 14 is called the Wishing Well Corner but it will not be a "corner".

Hope everyone enjoys the courses (sorry... I can't make short derby courses! LOL)

RIDE TIMES
Attached are the ride times for Saturday.
We'll be running the jumping in groups rather than an assigned order or ride time. The only stipulation is if you are entered in the CT and the Derby at the same level, you must ride your CT course first. Order of jumping will be worked out with the ring steward.

Please note! It's a small show, but we do have a couple fence changes that will need to be made, and can use some help to do so (especially the change to Novice about 11am). Thank you in advance!

07/25/2024

Looking forward to the CT/Derby on Saturday! It is going to be a small show, so we're making a few changes. That said, there's some explanation to everything along with maps and ride times... which won't be posted til tomorrow... so stay tuned for more information.

For now...
courses are set. They aren't yet flagged and numbered, but they are set. If anyone wants to come early to walk the courses, happy to have you... just let me know when so I can make sure to be here.

prepare for a change to parking (up by the barn instead of out in the "parking field")... trailers and cars. Due to only having 10 riders in 6 trailers, I think we'll all fit just fine... and be closer to everything (water, secretary, arenas) and be able to cheer each other on.

Ride times will be posted tomorrow but we will be starting at 8:30... finishing up about 11:30. We'll be doing all dressage first...then all jumping. The wash rack will be available, but NOT during the dressage tests.

Because of the short day, we will only have a few snacks and drinks available for purchase - no "lunch".

Again... more maps and such coming tomorrow!

Entries are low, but we will run. Come have fun with us! Entries are due no later than Sunday (the sooner you can get them in, though, the better I'll sleep).

Starting to set up for the CT/Derby on the 27th. Entries are due in full no later than Sunday!!!

We are VERY low on entries ...
so if you want a laid back, fun experience with a CT or Derby course, drop an entry! We will also take jumper rides and individual dressage tests. Schooling after the event is also available.

The Derby courses are a combination of show jumps and cross country. No water (come on lottery...or sponsor!) but we have banks/bank options for all levels as well as ditch/faux ditch for all. Courses are NOT short....usually 18-20 jumps!

Happy Saturday! We're officially **3** weeks out from the annual Combined Test/Event Derby on the 27th. Now accepting entries! Details and entry information can be found at https://www.serenityvalleyfarmoh.com/combined-test-info

Key information to know:
1. CTs offered from Tadpole (1' jumps, WT dressage) through Training.
2. Derby offered from Grasshopper (18" jumps, WTC dressage) through Novice.
3. CT = dressage test followed by a show jumping round.
Derby = dressage test followed by a jump round consisting of show jumps and cross country jumps. Please note... derby courses tend to be long (like 15-20 jumps total long)!
4. Entries can be sent fb message or email with payment via cash, check, paypal, venmo or credit card. Any fees incurred by method of payment is the responsibility of the participant (credit cards will automatically have a 3.5% fee attached).
5. New this year! -- we want everyone to finish their rides! If you have a problem with a fence, refusals will count normal, but you can skip fences if needed. Skipping a fence = 1,000 points added to your score. Note: This show is Miami Valley Equestrian Association sanctioned and placings will count towards MVEA year end awards. Scores over 1,000 points may result in 0 MVEA year end points (yet to be determined).
6. PAYBACK!!! all divisions with more than 3 entries will have 5% of entry fees added to a payback pot for that division. This is in addition to ribbons for first - sixth place.
7. Schooling will be available after the last horse finishes for the day. Additional jump rounds are also available for a fee.

Any questions? Just ask!

Well... I think I spoke about 2 hours too soon!

Sorry guys! We will NOT be running the show on Saturday. WE ARE RESCHEDULING FOR OCTOBER 12 (literally one of only 2 saturdays we have available the rest of the season). Deeply sorry for the confusion. 😢

I hope everyone, horse and human, stays safe in this heat and that we see everyone in October! (if not sooner as we have our CT/Event Derby on July 27, and Dressage shows on August 24 and September 28)

Riders - I will assume any paid entries will be rolled over to october unless you let me know you would prefer a refund.

Also, if anyone still wants to know what a Canadian Carwash is, just ask. 😜🐎

Just a couple early updates for the hunter show on June 22nd.

1. It's approaching fast! Get those pre-entries in (with full payment) in order to get the discount on class fees. Pre-entries are due (in or postmarked) by the end of THIS weekend.

2. We've been watching the forecast for a few days and it does look like the day may end up being a tad on the warm side. So... 2 decisions have been made now to allow you to plan:

First.... jackets are waived. Be sure and wear a shirt with sleeves & a collar if you don't wear you jacket, but jackets are not needed with the heat.

Second... we will be starting at 8am.

More details to come... hope to see everyone at the show!

Our next DLSC (hunter) show is rapidly approaching -- Saturday, June 22nd! We have started receiving pre-entries and encourage them, though we will accept day-of entries as space allows (assume we are accepting them unless otherwise posted). More information and entry forms at https://www.serenityvalleyfarmoh.com/dressage-show-info We do also offer a LeadLine/Walk only class if requested (with no office fee).

Just a reminder -- entries can be emailed or sent via FB messenger. We accept Cash, check, paypal, venmo or credit cards (any fees incurred by the method of payment must be covered by the participant). To be considered as a pre-entry and thus eligible for the fee discount, form with all fees must be sent by Sunday, June 16th!

No idea why this didn't post. Sorry!!

05/16/2024

I'll post another update tomorrow with course maps and such, but here is how the show is looking so far.

We are low on pre-entries. We will be taking day of show entries but obviously cannot predict how many we'll be getting or what they will do to the time schedule. The schedule AS OF NOW is...
Ground Poles - 9am
Crossrails - 10:15
Leadline/Walk Only - 11:00
Green - 11:30
Green Jumper - 1:00
Beginner - 1:30
Beginner Jumper - 2:00

We currently have no confirmed entries for any Intermediate classes or DLSC Medal. If we get entries, obviously those will be added. Depending on Medal entries, we will work those in and as a result anyone wanting to show up and compete in DLSC Medal class needs to be entered by noon regardless of level.

We are expecting rain. PLEASE be conscientious of the parking pasture (emphasis on the word pasture!!). If you get stuck, PLEASE ask for help. We will get you unstuck but if you attempt it, you may put irreversible ruts in the pasture - do NOT do this!!

For those who are coming back to see us... can't wait to see you again!! For those who are joining for the first time, welcome! ALL parking except staff, SVF boarders, and those with disabilities, need to park in the parking pasture NOT in the driveway. There's a lovely entrance right off the road into the pasture, to the north of the driveway. Parking will be open approximately 730. If you feel you need arrive sooner, please reach out and let us know.

We will have some concessions on the grounds, and there may be some items/tack for sale in case you're looking for anything (if I have time to get it all put out).

Please, no dogs. Ripley will be out and about and as it is her home, she shouldn't have to worry about other dogs (and I shouldn't have to worry about her reaction to other dogs). If you have a (true) service dog, those are welcome but I do ask that you let me know so I can be prepared.

Any questions... just ask!

Because I've been preoccupied and haven't posted this, I'm giving y'all til end of tomorrow (Sunday) to get pre-entries in (or postmarked). 🗓️ Remember payment must be made by this deadline or fees will go up! 💲

HOLY COW! Can you believe it's almost MAY?!? I'm really behind in posting here for the upcoming season but it's seriously almost here! So I need to get busy!

First DLSC Hunter show of the season will be at SVF on Saturday, May 18... yep... less than *3* weeks away! 😱 There are no changes to the usual way things will run. If you're new to the circuit, welcome!

* Hunter show bill is on the website at www.daytonlocalshowcircuit.com under Hunter Information. Keep in mind that we usually add an additional warm up between Beginner and Intermediate heights, and are happy to add a Leadline class if there is interest.

* Pre-entry is HIGHLY recommended. We will take day off entries (and changes to existing entries are always ok) as space allows. Since COVID we've had good sized shows and often need to hire a 2nd judge for part of the day. If we don't know you're coming, we can't do that and it makes for an insanely long day for everyone (we actually wouldn't have been able to finish the show in 2020 if we didn't have pre-entries as the arena does not have lights). We have a generous withdrawal policy.

* Updates will be here and no emails will be sent. If you need emails, email us first with a question and I'll respond.

* we do take online entries (email, FB msgr) and payment can be made by cash, check, Paypal, Venmo or credit card. Payment MUST be received for the entry to be complete and qualify for the $3/class pre-entry discount. If you pay online (paypal or venmo) and there is a service fee, rider is responsible for paying that fee. There will be a 3.5% service fee added to any credit card charges.

* $10/warm up class ride; $15 pre-entry per judged Hunter or Jumper class - $18 day of entry fee per class; $25 medal class entry. $15 office fee per horse/rider pair. We do not offer stabling.

We've started to receive entries already - Thank you for those who have sent them in!! Can't wait to see everyone! If anyone has questions, please just ask!
