Serenity Valley Farm: Equine Education and Training Center

Serenity Valley Farm: Equine Education and Training Center Located just west of Dayton, Ohio, SVF is a new equestrian education facility.

SVF's goal is to become a top notch Equestrian Education facility with plans to host a variety of schooling shows and clinics throughout the year, as well as be able to offer a training facility for both a limited number of boarders as well as haul in clientele. While our passions run towards the english disciplines of dressage and eventing, we hope equestrians of all disciplines can find the educational opportunities they need at SVF in the future.

Course maps for tomorrow.
Due to the possibility of uncooperative weather, especially later in the day, if you do not need a courtesy circle, please don't do one. Obviously if you need one to get a good start to the first fence or to coming off the last one to make a nice downward transition to exit the arena, do it. But if you're in a trot class and your first or last jump is across the ring, please consider leaving it out so we can keep moving. Thank you!

Update for Saturday's DLSC Hunter show:
Bring your rain coats -- hopefully if everyone plans for rain, Murphy's Law will kick in and it will be all for nothing and we'll have a lovely day... right?
We are keeping an eye on the forecast. So far, it might be a little wet, but seems doable. Here is the current time schedule based on entries we have to date. I wouldn't expect a LOT of change, but it might shift just a bit here or there. Asking everyone be on time... storms are currently forecast as a possibility the later in the afternoon we go. If you have questions about the schedule, please ask.
Notes:
1- Ground Poles Hunter and Equitation will run intermixed. This means we will run the Under Saddle Hunter class... then the flat class for the Equitation division. Then ALL (of both divisions) of the first jump round... then ALL (of both divisions) of the 2nd round. This way, riders and horses are able to catch their breath in between since we have small numbers in those divisions. See "Class Order" column below.
2- Warm Up classes are split so you are riding your warm up before your first class at that level. I've included the names of the riders in the schedule below. Again, if you have a question, please let me know (try to catch everything but I'm not perfect).
3- Anyone wishing to enter the DLSC Medal class will need to enter by noon on Saturday.
4- those in Beginner Hunter and Beginner Equitation will also run their flat classes back to back and then their jump rounds will be intermixed with the Beginner Jumper classes (again so everyone is able to catch their breath). The classes will run as follows: Beg Hunter US... Beg Eq flat... jump round 1 of both divisions... Beg Jumper Speed... jump round 2 of Beg Hunter and EQ... Beg Jumper Jump Off. See "Class Order" column below.
5- course maps will be posted tomorrow.
6- Current schedule starts at 9am... and finishes at roughly 3:30.

See everyone soon!!

Yep... day after tomorrow. Any electronic entries received after Saturday or mailed entries postmarked after Saturday will be charged "Day Of" entry fee rates.

Halfway through class 11. Very breezy and a couple of exceptions taken to the extra wind, but otherwise moving right along! Thank you to everyone who is spending their Saturday with us!

Please be sure and read through this information for tomorrow's show. If you have questions, ask!

1) parking will be in the pasture field to the north side of the driveway... the gate directly off Union Road will be open by 7:30. If you think you need to be here earlier, let me know asap.

Please note that it is supposed to rain tonight. The pasture is high ground but it was also recently mowed. If you feel yourself get stuck, do NOT try to get out on your own! We like our pastures and want to keep them nice. We have a tractor and can help you get out with minimal damage to the ground.

2) warm up fences will be set in the small fenced arena and in the pasture next to the arena.

3) Horses need to stay to the north side (parking lot/fence arena) of the barn and then flow into that pasture to get to the in gate. This is due to spectators, tents, and electrical cords. If you're looking for a place to hand graze and watch, you may use the grass on the south side of the barn, but if you're there and need to take your horse to the arena, you'll need to go all the way around the barn due to the previously mentioned hazards.

4) the wash rack (cold water only) is located on the north side of the barn next to the fenced arena. Feel free to use it... please clean up any messes.

5) water is available at several faucets -- the wash rack, just inside the old (2 story) barn through the aisle facing the parking lot, or on the south side of the new barn about halfway down next to the side entrance.

6) we will be starting at 9am. Please be aware of how the ring is running and be prompt so we can keep moving. Hopefully we have fixed the PA and there will be announcements, but it is the rider's responsibility to be at the ring on time.

7) The vast majority of horses entered still need to present proof of a negative coggins when checking in. In addition, riders May and Gordon owe the $10 DLSC fee.

8) No dogs please.

9) course maps attached to this post. Please note that I have not yet figured out the timing for the Jumper classes, but speeds are noted. Medal course maps are not attached as we currently have no medal entries. A medal course map will be available with the secretary should we get entries.

10) there will be concessions next to the secretary in the barn.

Where does the time go!?

Here is the schedule for Saturday's DLSC Hunter show at SVF. If you have any questions please ask. This is an ETA time schedule. I don't foresee taking many day of entries so other than the usual waiting/course changes, this should be fairly accurate. 🤷‍♀️ At this point we are running a single arena, no divisions are split, but I have allowed time for some competitors to warm up out of "class order" because that way they don't have to warm up and then wait an hour to ride. I have left off classes that we do not have any entries for.

If anyone wants to add a DLSC Medal class, you must enter before 11:00am. We currently do not have any Medal entries.

Again... if you have question, please ask. Maps and any other details will be posted sometime tomorrow.

A little (lot) late in posting this but entries are starting to come in for our first DLSC Hunter/Jumper show on the 17th! Get your entries in via mail, email, or messenger... with fees paid by cash, check, paypal or venmo (I can do credit card as well but there is a fee). Entries need to be in (or postmarked if you put it in the mail) AND paid by end of day on Saturday, May 11th to be able to take advantage of the prepay pricing.

Don't forget the new entry forms are on the DLSC site... if you use the old forms, that's fine, but DLSC has instituted a $10 fee per entry (to go towards support for the Year End Awards program/banquet). https://www.daytonlocalshowcircuit.com

Any questions... just ask!!

I have put this off long enough...

In what has been rare since opening, Serenity Valley Farm has stalls available and is looking to add 1-2 new boarders to our small herd! Fit (both horse and owner) is very important because we are small (10 stalls max). Offering full and part care boarding with 12x12 stalls (minimum), home-grown hay, daily small group turnout (weather dependent, but we REALLY believe turnout is best), 2 sand outdoor arenas - 1 with lights, 5 shows held on the property each year, and convenient location (8 miles west of downtown Dayton - within 2 miles to both US Hwy 35 and St. Rt 4).

Message for more details or to make an appointment to visit. References will be requested.
