Goodnight sweet Nahko! He learned a lot today. He ran around with Ivy and me. He learned jump on and off, he knows sit and is getting pretty great at down.

He has also mastered cuteness. I mean, who could not love that face?????

I believe stair safety manners are important for dogs and their people.

Children could be knocked down or the dog could be tripped over.

Patience and practice pays off in the end.

The "eat" and Ivy making a mad dash for her bowl caught me off guard, but I'm learning."

Nahko broke the boundary when I sat Ivy's bowl down. I had to race him to pick up her bowl and redirect him out. Otherwise, each meal is an exercise in self control. He is a smart boy.

I will find my tripod. It's rough to train holding a camera. ☺️

"Hi. My name is Nakho Bear. My name used to be Orrick, but on Valentine's day my people found me. I was anxious in the shelter and when I'm anxious, I hump. I grab onto legs and never want to let go.

I had been in the shelter for one month and twelve days. I caught kennel cough and lost almost ten pounds. Then I had surgery and you would not believe what I'm missing!

So Jen came and I grabbed onto her leg with all my might. She didn't put me back in the cage. She calmed me. She sat with me for a long time and fed me treats. Then I did what I had seen many others do - I walked out of the door.

I'm a happy boy now and I get to sleep in a bed, play with my new sister, Ivy, run as fast as I can around the big yard, and I'm learning English.

So far I learned that when I put my butt on the floor - it's called "sit" and I get treats and doggy parties.

Life is good."

There is such a difference in a dog who has a relationship and a dog who has only been trained.

A dog who is trained knows certain words mean certain behaviors, but a dog in a relationship, not only knows that certain words mean certain behaviors should happen, but they also look at the person they love and figure out how to match those behaviors with the person's needs.

Dogs are amazing.
