Los Angeles is seeing unprecedented wildfires in residential areas that are dangerously close to Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in West LA. We are in an unprecedented and serious situation, but our team is ready.

From securing supplies and crates to coordinating with emergency response volunteers and fosters, every detail is being managed with care and precision. We’ve been in unpredictable situations before, and we know how to navigate them.

Could you lend a helping paw? Our pets are running low on some enrichment items we use to keep them happy and mentally healthy while they wait for their new homes. They would especially love donations of cat nip, cat squeeze treats, canned chicken, hot dogs, and dog toys (stuffed squeaky toys and rubber toys). If you would like to make their day, you can bring donations to our Adoptions Lobby Monday - Saturday from 12PM to 7PM. We appreciate your help in helping us keep their tails wagging!

Are you looking for a pair of wonderful cats? Meet Hazel (2 years) and her son Macadamia (5 months) from Robyn's Nest Rescue. They are complete kitty opposites, so you get the best of both worlds! Hazel is a fiercely independent cat. Her form of love is sleeping in the same room and asking for pets on her own terms. She is chatty and best suited for a quiet environment. Hazel is a good girl who doesn't get into trouble and is low maintenance. She knows her name and responds to it. Hazel is bonded to her son, Macadamia, and keeps an eye on him wherever he goes. Macadamia is a people-loving lap kitty who will be wherever you are! He is very playful and loves attention. He thrives with constant attention from other people or his mom. Mac loves taking naps, on your lap or wherever is available when he gets sleepy. He is fine being held, pet, and cradled like a baby. He's a total lovebug. ‼️ WEATHER UPDATE ‼️

Due to the lingering effects of this current winter storm and the continued challenges of the roadways, SICSA will be closed for public services on Tuesday, January 7th.

Our Pet Adoption & Wellness Center will be closing early today, Monday, Jan. 6th at 4PM. Mike and all of the other SICSA pets want to thank all of the SICSA workers who braved the cold to take care of them! ❤️ You all are greatly appreciated!

Meet Aggie!
This sweet senior is well-versed and full of character. When she gets excited, she does the cutest little tappy-toe dance. When she wants more pets, she'll nudge your hand with her snoot and give you the saddest puppy dog eyes until you give in. When it's time for a bath, she loves a sudsy massage. (Brownie points are awarded if you give her a blueberry facial scrub.)

Older pets and black animals tend to get overlooked in shelters, but if you're looking for an underdog who deserves the spotlight, look no further -- Aggie is waiting for you!
