CONGRATULATIONS MISSY!

We were contacted recently about MISSY, a 5 year old Rottweiler/Shar Pei mix who had lost her dad and needed to find a new home.

MISSY was originally adopted down in Virginia, so she'd already been through the adoption network at least once in her life. We hated the thought of her ending up back in a shelter, so it's been a mad race to find her a new family before February, when she had to be out of her current location.

We were looking for something specific for MISSY. We didn't realize it at first, but as we got to know her we realized what it was. A quiet home with people who would be with her all the time and dote on her, because that is what she's used to.

Patricia and Tom have had lots of dogs in the past. Four of them were Rottweilers, one was a husky, and Rusty was a Shar Pei who passed away recently. Their home was too quiet.

On Thursday Patricia saw MISSY's post, and even though she and Tom had discussed waiting a month before adopting again, she thought it was a sign that MISSY is a Rottweiler/Shar Pei mix, AND she said the house is too quiet without a dog in it.

She stayed up into the wee hours submitting the application so we received if first thing Friday morning. We processed it straight away, and by Friday afternoon we were making plans to bring MISSY to meet them on Saturday...

It was an instant connection! MISSY loved them both and gave them kisses. She was such a good girl!

We had told Patricia that MISSY was previously not allowed on the furniture, and that she would come with her two dog beds. Patricia was disappointed, because their dogs have always slept in bed with them and cuddled on the couch. We assured them that MISSY would probably adapt in time.

Within 20 minutes of our arrival, MISSY jumped up on the couch and made Patricia a very happy woman. (We'll post the photo of MISSY on the couch sporting a huge smile in the comments below.)

ENJOY YOUR NEW LIFE MISSY! WE ARE SO VERY HAPPY FOR YOU.

CONGRATULATIONS MITTENS!

This adoption has been a long time coming and while we felt immense frustration along the way, we are thrilled with the outcome!

MITTENS came to us over the summer with six kittens. She had shown up on the doorstep of a Good Samaritan while pregnant, and they fed her and kept the family safe until we could get them.

MITTENS is a super nice cat! She loves people, and anyone who meets her recognizes how special she is. She should have been adopted straight away, but due to some pretty extensive food allergies, people regularly turned away from adopting her.

We were so frustrated, because we'd done the testing and all of the research to identify foods that MITTENS can eat. All an adopter had to do was feed her the foods we had identified.

But no. People repeatedly said it was a deal breaker.

Here's where the story gets interesting. Danielle came early on to adopt two of MITTENS' kittens, PAYDEN and GORDIE (now called JUNIOR & ELVIS). When Danielle was here, she fell in love with MITTENS. She saw instantly how special she is, but she was there to adopt two kittens, and she and her husband hadn't discussed adopting 3 cats.

But she never forgot MIT MIT and she stayed in touch and constantly talked about her to her husband. Finally the day came when Danielle told Mike they had to adopt her, because we had shared our frustrations regarding people refusing to adopt her because of the food allergies. Even a family with kids who have allergies refused her!

And that was the straw that broke the camels back...

So last weekend we drove MITTENS over to her new home to reunite her with her sons JUNIOR & ELVIS. They were surprised to see her and the conversation went something like this:

ELVIS: Mom! What are you doing here?
MITTENS: Surprise! I live here now.
JUNIOR: But this is OUR house! We have a new mom.
MITTENS: You have two moms and I'm here to stay, so get used to it.

And that was pretty much it. MIT MIT waltzed in like the diva she is, claimed her spot at the top off the cat tower, and stole Mike's heart exactly as Danielle had hoped.

The boys have been transitioned to foods MIT MIT can eat and everyone is happy.

MITTENS has even started playing with JUNIOR & ELVIS and she's kindly relinquished the top of the cat tower back to them.

We are forever grateful for adopters like Danielle & Mike who see possibilities, not obstacles in the world.

HAVE THE BEST LIFE MIT MIT! We love you so much and THIS home was absolutely worth waiting for.

PLEASE SHARE MEATBALL and. help him find his forever home!

MEATBALL is a sweet and mellow 4-5-year-old domestic shorthair who is ready to find his forever home. This affectionate boy adores belly rubs, snuggling with his favorite humans, and indulging in catnip and treats (he’s quite the foodie!). MEATBALL is a little on the chubby side, but he’s convinced it just makes him extra lovable.

He’s incredibly friendly and loves spending time with people, always greeting you with a soft purr and a hopeful look for scratches. MEATBALL is laid-back and nonconfrontational, making him a joy to have around.

He hasn’t met other animals yet, because he's still recovering from his upper respiratory infection, but he might do well with a slow introduction to furry friends. We will be introducing him to his canine & feline foster siblings once he's fully recovered.

Loud noises can spook him, so a calm and quiet home would be best for this gentle soul.

If you’re looking for a loving companion who’s happiest lounging by your side, MEATBALL could be the perfect match for you!

MEATBALL is getting neutered on Friday, 1.24.2025 and will be available for adoption after that.

If you are interested in adopting MEATBALL, go to passion4paws.org/adopt.

Happy 1st birthday to MADDIE (WILLOW’s puppy #6)!

Some of you may remember that MADDIE was the runt of the litter. We called her SIX.

Sadly, WILLOW rejected her immediately, and if not for our friend Kathleen, who went and got SIX when she was just a few hours old and bottle fed her, she wouldnt have survived the night.

Here’s her old adoption video (with a cameo from MURPHY) in case you want to see her then and now: https://youtu.be/beWoiOpcC3k?si=CjGgxx-CiGhE38WH
