CONGRATULATIONS MISSY!
We were contacted recently about MISSY, a 5 year old Rottweiler/Shar Pei mix who had lost her dad and needed to find a new home.
MISSY was originally adopted down in Virginia, so she'd already been through the adoption network at least once in her life. We hated the thought of her ending up back in a shelter, so it's been a mad race to find her a new family before February, when she had to be out of her current location.
We were looking for something specific for MISSY. We didn't realize it at first, but as we got to know her we realized what it was. A quiet home with people who would be with her all the time and dote on her, because that is what she's used to.
Patricia and Tom have had lots of dogs in the past. Four of them were Rottweilers, one was a husky, and Rusty was a Shar Pei who passed away recently. Their home was too quiet.
On Thursday Patricia saw MISSY's post, and even though she and Tom had discussed waiting a month before adopting again, she thought it was a sign that MISSY is a Rottweiler/Shar Pei mix, AND she said the house is too quiet without a dog in it.
She stayed up into the wee hours submitting the application so we received if first thing Friday morning. We processed it straight away, and by Friday afternoon we were making plans to bring MISSY to meet them on Saturday...
It was an instant connection! MISSY loved them both and gave them kisses. She was such a good girl!
We had told Patricia that MISSY was previously not allowed on the furniture, and that she would come with her two dog beds. Patricia was disappointed, because their dogs have always slept in bed with them and cuddled on the couch. We assured them that MISSY would probably adapt in time.
Within 20 minutes of our arrival, MISSY jumped up on the couch and made Patricia a very happy woman. (We'll post the photo of MISSY on the couch sporting a huge smile in the comments below.)
ENJOY YOUR NEW LIFE MISSY! WE ARE SO VERY HAPPY FOR YOU.
