Tomorrow is the day!! Check your email for important information regarding this year's picnic. We've got 60+ fabulous baskets ready to go. If you're bringing an additional auction basket (and haven't told Pat or Lauren), please message us ASAP! No need to print tickets off either; we’ll check in based on the name tickets we’re purchased under.

As a reminder, the picnic will happen rain or shine so come prepared for the weather. Cash is preferred but we can take checks if they are made out to MSIR. This is not the event for reactive dogs, but friendly dogs (of any breed) are welcome to attend. Feel free to contact us with questions. See you all at 11!

Here are some ideas for donations. But please if you have some ideas go ahead and do that. We love what people come up with. Our list is set up to be shipped to Pat so things can be grouped. We are proud of our silent auction and every year are amazed at the generosity of the Shiba group.

Save the date- the 2024 picnic will be on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 at the Token Creek County Park. Tickets will be on sale June 16th- July 28th. Register by July 1st to be entered to win an early registration prize. We'll share more details over the coming weeks.

Mad City Shiba Picnic 2023 is finished and was a great success. Thanks to Beth and Lauren Doescher whose organizational skills kept everything running smoothy again this year with registration, silent auctions and food prep. Without them there would be no Mad City Shiba Picnic! I want to give a shout out to my sister and her family, Tina, Bob, Jill and Blake Laufenberg for pitching in and helping wherever needed. Thanks to our emcee, TJ Doescher (Aurora Entertainment) for the background music and keeping us up to speed on what was taking place with his new wireless mic. And last but certainly not least thank you to my husband, Roger for his undying dedication to helping this event every year.
To the many generous people donating funds, donating baskets and/or bidding, to LeeAnn Mitchel for the scent detection workshop, to the owners and their dogs in the costume parade and to Jane Chapin for helping with the auction baskets, we thank you. The support of all of you attending is what makes this such an outstanding event.
And of course thanks to Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue for working with us during the last few weeks getting food and calendars ordered. It was fun and we look forward to next year.

The 2023 picnic is tomorrow!! Who’s excited? We emailed all ticket holders some reminders so please check your emails. Here’s the top 3 things to remember for tomorrow.

1. The picnic will be CASH ONLY so please plan ahead and bring what you intend on spending.

2. While we absolutely love seeing everyone’s Shibas, please keep any dogs home that are reactive to other dogs and or people. This is not a great place to socialize unsocialized dogs.

3. The weather is looking fabulous at the moment, but we do hold the picnic rain or shine. We will have enough bottled water for everyone, regardless of if you bought catering. We'll also have hoses and a small plastic pool set up for dogs to cool off in.

We are officially less than a month away from this year's picnic! A couple of quick reminders for you...

Registration is open... This year your ticket includes lunch catered by Hi-Vee. Lunch includes fried chicken, sides, chips, fruit, dessert, and a beverage! As always, kids under 10 are free. We can no longer allow people to sign up at the event, instead, all sign-up and payment must occur online ahead of time. We will close registration on August 1st. As a bonus incentive to sign up early, everyone who registers before July 23, 2023, will be entered to win a prize.

I hope all of you Shiba Inu owners and admirers have saved this date to attend the Mad City Shiba Inu Picnic. We are working on the registration tonight trying to get all our information to you. I will post here and on the picnic site when available.
MSIR's Shiba Inu Mad-City picnic is scheduled at Token Creek Park, Shelter # 5 on Saturday, August 5, 2023. We had such a great time last year raising funds for Shiba rescue. Hope to see you all again and more.
