Kingsley Veterinary Services

Kingsley Veterinary Services Dr. Johanna Kingsley provides comprehensive veterinary care to small ruminants and compassionate in Dr. Johanna Kingsley grew up in rural St.

Lawrence County, raising a small flock of Dorset sheep on her family farm. This early exposure grew into a prolonged interest in small ruminants of every stripe. She pursued this interest in college, earning degrees in Animal Science (2007) and Veterinary Medicine (2011) from Cornell University. In 2011, Dr. Kingsley returned to the North Country, taking a job in mixed practice. After stints at To

wn & Country Veterinary Clinic (Ogdensburg, NY) and South Jefferson Veterinary Hospital (Adams, NY), she opened her own practice to cater to small ruminants. Her experiences in companion animal medicine led Dr. Kingsley to add home palliative care and euthanasia to her offerings. She finds it fulfilling to help families ensure their pets' final days are as pain- and stress-free as possible. Dr. Kingsley is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners.

Thank you to the folks who came out last week for my talks at Pickens Hall! I was so pleased with how the evening went and hope you found it valuable too. I also appreciate those of you that reached out with feedback in the following days. Looks like we will do it again next year!

I have posted the slide shows on the resource page of my website, www.kingsleyveterinary.com, for those that couldn't make it or want to look it over again.

I have also posted info there on my old Porta-Vet truck insert, which is for sale.

Here is the lambing and kidding kit I'm offering at my talk next week. Cost is $65 and they contain:

1 old towel*
1 flashlight
1 digital thermometer
4 oz hand soap
5 oz sterile lubricant
16 oz 7% iodine in spray bottle
1 sleeve gauze 3x3 sponges
2 Pritchard teats
1 feeding tube with syringe
10 small exam gloves
10 large exam gloves
10 small obstetric sleeves
10 large obstetric sleeves
Laminated fast fact sheet

All packed in a sturdy plastic box to keep things clean and dry.

*It would have been simpler to buy towels for these-but new towels aren't very good at pulling moisture off new babies, and they take up too much space in your kit and washing machine. These towels have been carefully selected to get the job done!

Do you have your own kit that you would like to just stock up? Let me know what you'd like and I can bring it to the talk. Not coming to the talk? These will be for sale on an on-going basis.

Call for photos!

I am planning a talk for later this spring on breeding season management and lambing and kidding. In hopes of making it both interesting and representative, I'd like to include lots of client photos. Photos of lambs and kids, rams and bucks, does and ewes, bottle babies and dams successfully raising litters, jugs and maternity pens, sick babies and healthy babies, you name it! Please let me know if you would like photo credit or would like to remain anonymous.

Email them to [email protected], share via google photos, or text to (315)350-4837.

And stay tuned for more info on the talk, I'm really excited about it.

It was a pleasure to chat with North Country Public Radio's Catherine Wheeler about the changes I'm seeing in my practice with milder winters and wet summers. This is also a nice photo of my knees to chin, but I can't change how the photo is cropped!

A veterinarian in St. Lawrence County says warmer and wetter weather is helping some parasites become active earlier in the spring and stick around later into the fall.

Thanks for all your kind words regarding the arrival of our son. We are all well and I am easing back into the demands of being a one-woman show! As a result my working hours are a bit limited at the moment and appointment mays be scheduled out a bit farther than usual. If you think you may need an appointment, please get in touch sooner rather than later, via phone, email or text. Emergency coverage will be available for established small ruminant clients in good standing.

And, for spring, a reminder that if you want goat kids disbudded, contact me the business day after they are born so we can do it in the first week of life! Thanks!
