Even my well-adjusted pups need an extra tune up every so often!
The other day, my dog Roxi slipped on the snow on our porch while going out to the bathroom and came back limping on her front left leg. 😢
I always check and adjust the spine first, then move outward joint by joint. After I cleared her spine, she still had the limp so I decided to check her extremities. I found that her scapula (or shoulder blade) was fixated medially (towards her spine), and her shoulder joint was really restricted and didn’t want to flex as much as the other one did. After adjusting those two areas, the limp was 90% better and today it’s completely gone! 👏
The coolest part about taking care of the problem right away? The body and brain don’t have a chance to develop compensation patterns, so it saves her from other struggles in the long run! It pays off to be a well adjusted pup (and have a mom who’s a chiro 😜)!

If you have a dog with allergies you know just how insanely frustrating they can be! Seeing your pet uncomfortable and non-stop itching is the absolute worst and feeling like there’s nothing you can do to help them is even worse! 😭 Here are some of my favorite natural solutions for allergies:
1️⃣ Check their environment! Just like in humans, environment is everything. What they’re exposed to and what you’re putting in to their body can be a game changer. Some of the most common offenders are low quality dog food, harsh cleaning products or fragrances, laundry detergent used to wash their bedding, and irregular cleaning since dust mite allergies are so common.
2️⃣ Add in supplemental support! My dogs who struggle seasonally are on Standard Process Dermal Support, Orthomolecular D-Hist, and golden paste. There are so many supplements out there, so make sure that you’re buying from a reputable company and don’t overwhelm your dogs body by having them on 10+ different supplements!
3️⃣ Explore topicals! The world of topicals is a frustrating one because what may work for one dog may not work for the next. I encourage owners to try each for at least a week and look for small signs like less redness/inflammation or hair starting to regrow. While it might not be an overnight fix, those small signs tell you your pet is responding well! In my house we often use oatmeal baths, diluted ACV baths, peppermint/chamomile tea in a spray bottle, and calendula salve. Pets tend to like to lick when topicals applied, so always be sure to do your research and make sure that what you’re using is safe to be ingested and if it’s not, I personally wouldn’t take the risk to use it.
Please remember that this is not medical advice and to always consult with your primary veterinarian regarding skin conditions! 😄

Man… the amount of times I hold myself back from adjusting a random person’s dog at the dog park is wild 😜 #canthelpit #fergie #animalchiropractic
