Meet the horse Monday
Today meet Wildfire sometimes I say Black Beauty would have been a better name for her. She came to the Ranch in March 2014 as a foal three days old with her mother Shadow. I gave her to my sister and helped my sister with her training and when Wildfire turned five years old we started riding her, she never offered to buck even with her first few rides and possibly one of the easiest horses I've ever broke out to ride . She is direct rein and more of a level 2 beginner horse because she is still what I'd call learning the fancy steps, she still needs work on her back up command. Wildfire prefers walk and trotting out on trails much to anything else she isn't a speedy horse but you can get her to canter. Wildfire is like a big dog you can do anything with. She loves people and getting pets. Wildfire won't be giving us a foal til next year. She is grade.

Meet the horse Monday is here again...
Today meet Jess our real cowboy get it done mare! Jess stands at 16hhs tall and is the boss mare of our herd. Jess came to us in 2011 as a untrained mare. She was born in Minnesota in 2004 . Jess since then has been trained to work cattle and trail rides .She is one of our experienced riders only horses because of her go, her fancy moves and her past. Jess is a sweet heart my daughter loves to ride her in the roundpen. You will mostly see myself, or my brother riding her . I am very proud of Jess and she's my go to mare when things get real on our ranch. This mare's age ain't slowing her down from getting the job done around here.
AQHA registered mare. She isn't expected to have a foal this year. Maybe next year.

Meet the horse Monday
Diamond came to us from the waukon sale barn. She was used for working cattle in the auctions and roping bulls in rodeo before we bought her in April 2022. Today she is used to herd our cattle help doctor calves ect... she also does gymkhana patterns, trail rides, some soccer games, teaches intermediate riders in my lessons. Her fast forward pace is set up nicely when clients are ready to step up from the beginner horses. She is 14 hands tall and has a motor to go. She ain't no speedy 1d barrel horse but she likes to think she is at times ha ha. Diamond is neckrein or direct rein she has a reverse to backing up on command. In my program she won't be your first mount but she will most likely be your step up mount if you feel like you need a faster pace horse then Morgan or I feel like your ready to step it up. Diamond loves neck scratches and treats like apples 🍎.
Diamond knows how to rope but we don't offer roping programs because I feel I'm under skilled to teach that. As the saying goes there is always more to learn in the horse world and as I'm teaching you all what I know I will also be working towards learning more myself. As we learn my lessons may grow to more practices. As of right now Diamond will be used to teach you how to keep a cool head, give a horse proper leadership, ground work, gymkhana patterns with speed, leading trail rides and possibly work some cattle. She is grade.

Meet the horse Monday
Today get to know a little about Mister is our 12 hand tall pony. He was born in the year 2000. Came to Ranch in 2003. He was my pony then passed to being my sister's pony and now he's my daughter's pony who is also shared with many lesson kids. Mister is sweet and very kind to kids. Small children can lead or ride him. He use to do a little of everything sorting calves to pulling small hay wagons back in his younger years. Now days he rides in teaching kids. He teaches kids that lack confidence not to be afraid and helps kids that think their ready to go fast but not yet to be safe He seems to know what a kid can handle. He does some gymkhana patterns but walk and trott only. He has played soccer but isn't a huge fan of it. He likes to go with us on trails and even surprise us by leading the group with the right kid on him that is ready for it. So if you have a small child looking to start riding, message us to set up a time to have them meet Mister in person. His white coat means that each lesson will start with a good brushing haha but it's all part of the fun of getting to know the pony their riding. No adults will be riding Mister by the way.

Meet the horse Monday
Today we will talk about my daughter's pony Olaf.
Olaf loves kids he is our best pony and go to for beginners. He loves going on trail rides and playing soccer. Small adults can ride Olaf also because of his stocky build. Olaf likes to neckrein but sometimes it's easier for kids to direct rein Olaf due to him being trained to have a rein high up on his neck. Olaf is in his mid teens but sometimes acts like a big goofy puppy dog picking up feed pans or untieing himself 😆 he diffently keeps the ride and time with him interesting some days he's all business other days he rather just go for a walk . Either way everyone who has met Olaf just falls in love with him!

Rosie born in 2013
Came to our ranch a couple years ago.
She loves kids very much.
Rosie you will see us using on trail rides and roundpen rides. She is on the slower side so arena work isn't her go to.
She is only 14 hands tall so she is one of our smaller horses.

Today meet Morgan
Our 15 hand little sorrel mare who has always kept her rider safe. Morgan got her name from us, we bought her from a Amish at a auction in Waukon. Her breed is also Morgan. This sweet girl was born March 14th 2018. We got her when she was 4 years old. She has picked up everything we throw at her. Morgan has done roping, arena work even through its not her favorite she puts up with it , sorting cows, doctoring calves, teaching kids, ponying colts and ponies. Her favorite thing is trail riding that's her go to. Morgan is light mouthed which means I will be teaching riders light hands with her. She is neckrein and direct rein too. She loves Littles .

Meet the horse Monday
Today Meet Mickey our 16 hand paint gelding. He came to us in spring of 2014. Mickey was born in 2005 in St.Charles MN. Mickey likes chasing cows and is a big lovable horse that is our beginner safe go to for pokey rides he seems to know what the rider needs . But he can get up and go when needed. Mickey mostly direct reins which means you ride Mickey with two hands, he can neckrein which means one hand but needs someone who knows leg cues to help him out with it. He is gentle and loves treats.If your an adult rider you most likely will start riding Mickey first here.

Reasons you may think your horse is spooking at nothing but keep this in mind when riding. You don't always see what they do. Be aware of your surroundings when riding. And remember practice makes for a better ride, if the first few rides don't go as planned try again another day no horse is perfect 👌. Building better riders.
