Because Discrimination Bites

OUR STORY – OUR MISSION

Shorty’s Rescue started in Los Angeles in 2001 and our headquarters are in San Diego, California and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Our goal is to bring awareness of our bully breeds and fight for their rights, fight against dog fighting and fight against breed specific laws (BSL) throughout the United States and Mexico. We offer monthly free vete

rinary care to low-income individuals and families. We provide free monthly dog obedience training classes to low-income individuals and families. Rescue, rehabilitate, train, and re-home bully breeds through our Geisha’s House Foster Program. We offer free spay and neuter clinics to low-income individuals and families with Hercules' Mobile Clinic Motorhome. Participate in Keynote Speaking Engagements. Enlighten Bully Breed Breeders regarding their contribution to the homeless Bully Breed Population. Pet Owner Support Program to keep our Bully Breeds where they belong by providing food, veterinary care, and training to qualifying individuals. Education Resource for responsible Breed Guardianship, Breed Awareness, Animal Rights, and fighting against BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) laws. Creating a strong voice against stereotyping and stigma—we do not seek your pity and don’t appreciate your prejudice. We are here to help one discrimination case at a time through education, enlightenment and to fight, if necessary, for the underdogs of the world.

Lorenzo update! He had his first eye surgery yesterday and it went well. They removed both of his cherry eyes and worked on his left eye. He still has at least 2 more surgeries to go. His surgery was done onsite at our mobile clinic.

We still need your help with his surgeries and his recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Ares hanging out with his Arizona side chicks. Tomorrow we finally go home.

06/17/2024

Area is so done with all this travel now we are on our way back to Texas just to land and get into a car and drive back to Arizona then home to Mexico.

06/15/2024

Well we are on our way to Arizona. We can not be more grateful to the staff of San Antonio Rehabilitation Hospital for their care and hospitality of our parents. We can not say thank you enough. .

06/14/2024

Hanging out with the family in Austin. Tito's Handmade Vodka is a great supporter of Shorty's Rescue, Inc. and Shorty's Rescue Sanctuary

When in Texas 😆

06/10/2024

Well we made it to San Antonio about 2ama this morning. Spent the day running errands and checking on the parents and spending time with them. They both are doing great and are being released from the rehabilitation center later this week.

I will be here until they make it to their new home apartment assisted living where they have agreed to go.

We are hanging out in the hotel room while Ares giving me the dirty look. Lol.

06/09/2024

We had to make a quick trip for 2 days at the house in Mexico. We on our way back to San Antonio to take care of the parents.

06/04/2024

Ares is keeping our mother company this morning. Her and Dad’s rehabilitation is going along great. They are in the best care and facility in San Antonio.

06/03/2024

Ares update! He is doing great. His 💩 is almost normal. He is eating normal. He gives me that eye when it is medicine time and then it becomes a battle giving him his medication because they are horse pills.

No matter what I wrap them in, crush and mix them in, he finds a way to spit it out, but eventually, he takes his meds.

His personality is back to normal and we’re all good.

I haven’t given him any credit, but this dog has been with me and I have been in several different hospitals, rehabilitation centers, banks, medical records, Social Security office, vital records office and numerous other government offices and he has been a trooper. He’s not used to this ugly ass weather in San Antonio and hates it as just as much as I do.

She has been keeping me from going insane and he knows that that’s why he won’t leave my side

06/01/2024

Yesterday I had to check my father into a medical facility for rehabilitation, something I never thought I would ever have to do. Today or tomorrow our mother will be in the same facility. Both of them will be getting physical rehabilitation and then they will going to an assisted living apartment to be together.

We (sister, brother-in-law) have been running around San Antonio getting all of their paperwork together and selling the house. My sister had to go back home today and it is just me and Ares hanging out at the hotel and taking care of their business.

All of this seems like a dream and I am going to wake up back in Mexico. Then my sister and I have to deal with family issues. I want this! She promised me this! Greed brings out the real persons in our family. I swear we need to be on Jerry Springer Show with all of the bu****it me and my sister have to deal with. We even snapped at each other with all this stress. But I couldn’t do this without Janet and Greg.

I have no clue how long this process will take, but it will get done. I just wished the nasty 🤮 ass weather here was better. Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words.

We are here in Orange County, California picking up our generator, solar batteries and Lucy Pet Food that was donated. We were able to get a bigger generator thanks to Craig’s connections with Harbor Freight. We did go over budget of $639.99 because of the warranty. We still need 2 more solar batteries. We now can do you clinics with either no electricity or in rural areas where electricity is unpredictable like where we live.

Again we can’t thank everyone enough for you donations and if you are able to help out with our over budget the dogs and staff are thankful. 🙏

This post is for people who are expats in Canada or Mexico. I just spent 45 minutes on a phone call with a representative from CDC.

Right now the requirements for August 1, 2024 are not up yet. The representative did say they will be new requirements, but not much of a change even if you are not from a high-risk rabie country, which Canada and Mexico are not. (She could not tell me what).

Everyone needs to ignore the form that is on their site now. Why, because it is not up to date and only has airports as port of entry in the USA. I was told that will change on July 15, 2024.

The representative said the land crossing will be different from air travel. Again she did not know what they are. I was put on hold several times as she talked with her supervisor.

The representative did say they will be different requirements if your pet, rescue or service animal is not completely vaccinated in the USA.

On two occasions I have asked border officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry and Otay Port of Entry. They have no clue at all.

As I find out more information I will update on this post.

Updated!!! We are now 3/4 of the way there to complete our goal of donations. We are in need of $300 more to get the solar batteries the property needs. If you can not donate on facebook, look in the first comment and see different ways to helps us. (PayPal, Zelle, Venmo and CashApp)

We are so thankful to everyone who as helped us out. It is all about making the lives of these animals better than ours. It’s about saving animal lives.

Vamanos, Let’s Do This!!

We Need Your Help!

We are raising funds to buy solar batteries to get completely off grid.
We already have the solar panels, charge regulators and inverters, three of our dog trailers that are off the grid.

Why you may ask?

Where we are in mexico, we have unstable Electricity. Yes, we now have back up generator for our mobile clinics and when the power goes out on our property, but the generator cannot run everything needed and it can be costly using gallons of gasoline.

One of the reason is that the transformer is 350 feet away from the electrical meter box and then from the eletrical meter box to the property electrial switch box is 550 feet of cable. There are over 15 properties using the same transformer.

When the power shuts down, we have no power, our refrigrators with dog food, dog medicines and vaccinations are in jeopardy. If its cold, our heater system for the dogs goes out! If it is warm our cooling fans and misters go down.

What do we need? We need at least 6 more sun cycle AGM batteries so we can run all necessary appliances, devices, lights, and water pump 24 hours a day.

These batteries can cost upto $350.00 each. We have a company willing to give a huge discount if we purchase 6. You can donate with the links in this post and in the comment section.. We also accept Zelle, Paypal, Venmo and CashAPP.

And to those who were anonymous, we would like to say thank you again. We raised more than we needed so we are getting a bigger generator from Harbor Freight on Friday.
