Did you know that we begin planning for next year’s tulip season right now? We have to plan and budget and decide which varieties to purchase because the bulbs we order have to be purchased in May/June at the latest! Then in October we start preparing the tulip garden rows for planting in November. All winter we are cleaning up around the property to make sure everything is ready for our visitors to have the best experience on our farm. Usually we have 2-4 people who plant ALL those bulbs by hand because the machine to plant them is over $40,000. We could never make enough in our short 3-5 week picking season to make such a big investment so it’s all done by hand every year!

Three years ago we finished my greenhouse in early spring before our first tulips bloomed. We used some old stumps to make a natural bench behind the greenhouse. Many of you who have visited the farm have had your picture taken by me on that bench. It’s my favorite little spot to view the garden and take a break when I’m working the summer garden. For Mothers Day that year, my daughter bought me these beautiful roses- one for each side of the bench. This is the first bloom of the year! It will bloom until frost in October or November! A gift that keeps on giving💗

I love children of all ages but there’s just something so precious about babies. I have a dear friend who started an orphanage in Uganda many years ago. I hope you will all read what she wrote a few days ago. Please visit their website or scan the QR code in our shop to sponsor a child or give a one time donation. The heartbeat of our lives is our love for God. We try to serve Him in everything we do and we love serving in missions whenever possible. Our local mission is a new project right here in Decatur TN! 10% of all proceeds from our sales will go to this project “The Mount of Prayer”. It’s a very special place!
