👀 Looking for weekend volunteers! We need help on weekends. This would include:

- Cleaning/moving enclosures
- Feeding animals
- Hosing out carriers
- Dishes (though lately Terra has this covered!)
- Assisting with other animal care related activities like triage, treatment, or creance flying (specifically our raptor patients, as it always requires extra hands to work with them)
- Cuddles with Opie, one of our opossum educational ambassadors

We want some people who can commit to coming every weekend for 1-2 hour shifts. What we need is consistency: we want to know we can count on the help on those days. With some weekend events coming up, we need to know things will be covered.

If you are interested, reliable, and willing to do some dirty work, please send us a message. We'll need your name, phone number, and address to submit to the state to get you added to the permit.

🚨 Pet Safety Alert 🚨

As the weather continues to heat up, remember: NEVER leave your pets in a parked car! Even with cracked windows, temperatures can soar to deadly levels within minutes. Your furry friends can suffer from heatstroke, brain damage, or worse.

👉 Facts to remember:

• On a 75°F day, a car's temperature can reach 100°F in just 10 minutes.
• On a 90°F day, it can hit 160°F in less than 10 minutes.

🐾 What to do:

• Leave pets at home if you can't take them with you.
• If you see a pet in distress in a hot car, call local authorities immediately.
• Spread the word to friends and family – let's keep our pets safe!
• Stay vigilant, stay cool, and keep your pets cool too!

🏗️👷‍♀️ CALLING ALL BUILDERS! We are in desperate need for housing for our opossums, as we have almost 200 and they are outgrowing their enclosures fast. We need some chicken coops or rabbit hutches with open bottoms! Ideally we're looking for 2 stories to make them climb, a nest box, a waterproof roof, and as sturdy as possible since we have high winds here! Can you make something for us? If you can't, no worries - we also have a bunch on our wishlist! Would you like to sponsor a litter of opossums and purchase one?

🏘️🏘️ Can't sponsor a whole litter? Consider a small donation to help cover the cost of us purchasing some. We need at least 6 new enclosures to take the pressure off.

🧱👩‍🌾🥦 OR: do you have some extra bricks or pavers we can use to help weigh things down? Maybe you're growing a garden and have some extra produce you could donate (200 opossums eat a LOT!!). We have a lot of different needs, so we'd love any help you can give. We can't do this amazing work without the community!
