Cold temperatures have arrived in Decatur, and itβs important to remember that our pets are affected by the cold just like we are.
During colder days and nights, we recommend bringing pets indoors whenever possible, especially puppies, senior pets, and short-haired breeds. Make sure they have warm, dry bedding, access to fresh water that is not frozen, and limit their time outside in extreme cold.
Cold weather can increase the risk of hypothermia, dehydration, and joint discomfort, particularly for older pets. If your pet seems lethargic, is shivering, or shows any signs of discomfort, itβs best to have them checked.
If you have questions or concerns about your petβs health this winter, the team at Ables Animal Hospital is here to help.
Stay warm, Decatur, and keep your pets safe.
