We had a great time at our very first Behavior Workshop, Puppy 101, last Saturday! Even better, there's more to come!

Our next Behavior Workshop is coming up on February 15th. In this workshop, you'll learn all about canine body language: how to decipher your dog's signals, understand their vocalizations, and get insight into their emotions. If you've ever wished you could talk to animals, this is the next best thing!

Our declawed Maine c**n mixes Quark and Atom were adopted together!

Their new human came in for Atom and then also fell for his sister Quark. She was so happy when she learned she could adopt both, she cried, which made is a little teary, too. Their brother Molecule (last photo) has finally come out from hiding in the cat cottage, and he is so, so sweet, too. He is also declawed and is also 4. This guy is such a love.

SENIOR FOSTERS NEEDED: This week, PAWS took in 16-year-old sisters Karai and (swipe) Nefertiti, whose longtime human is dealing with serious health challenges and can no longer care for them. Senior cats tend to really struggle in a shelter environment, and that’s why we are asking for help.

We are looking for a foster/adopter who can offer both cats a soft place to land together, because they are all each other has ever known.

They are very gentle, friendly, polite cats who will be lowkey guests. If you can help, please tap the link in our profile or visit PAWSAtlanta.org and fill out a foster application.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lilia and her new family. Her new people have been rescuing for decades and have two senior male cats. They lost their older female cat, and, when they saw Lilia on our feed, they put in an application right away, hoping she’d be just what their hearts need right now: a lap kitty who just loves the love. Lilia was a perfect fit.

Ebbie, 10, was just treated to a photoshoot by one of our two volunteer photographers . Swipe through and check out his new photos!

Ebbie is one of our longtime guests. He lives in his own air-conditioned, heated cottage on the property and has a little courtyard in which to sun himself. But, a shelter is not a home, no matter how comfortable your digs.

Everything about Ebbie is solid — his stature, his energy, the confidence with which he carries himself. He’s a guy who attaches deeply to his humans, sometimes a little too deeply, causing him to feel like he needs to protect them from strangers.

For this reason, Ebbie needs a low-traffic, lower-stress retirement home, one with adults (no kiddos) and no other pets. He’s not a good fit for cats.

He would thrive with a routine and a little structure to his days. He likes knowing what to expect, as do we.

Ebbie knows his basic commands and is polite and self-assured. He loves to lounge around and sun himself. He has some arthritis, which is common for his age, but he still enjoys walks and getting out to stretch his legs.

Happy new life to our cat cottage social director Pedro Pspspscal! His new lady lost her longtime rescue cat about a year ago (a previous PAWS alum) and has been longing for the company of a snuggly lap cat. Pedro will have a 12-year-old canine big brother. Thank you to his fosters, who dropped him off and picked up a new foster cat, Mitzi. More on her soon.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!

QUARK is a stunning cat — and she’s so, so friendly. She is one of 3 cats surrendered this week because they were in a home with dogs who were becoming sick increasingly dangerous to them. Complicating things even further, Quark and the 2 others have been declawed, leaving them vulnerable. So, we took in all three as soon as we could, and we love them!

Swipe through and enjoy ! It was a great day: 8 pets went into foster and 5 were adopted!

1. Joker, the best kitty, went home with a first-time foster, and both of them were thrilled.

2. Sarah finalized her adoption of Sparky, a tripod boy her family has been fostering since October of 2023! They’re moving to New York! We’ll get more photos when they drop by to say goodbye.

3. Our puppy Tia went into foster with another first-time foster. She’ll have a big canine foster sister to show her the ropes!

4. Norma Jean, 7, who was surrendered because her family is moving, is also headed into a short-term foster home. She will be available for adoption once she is spayed.

5. The charming Pedro Pspspscal was adopted! He’ll have a 12-year-old canine, cat-loving big brother.

6. Schatzi, 7, who has been quite sad in the shelter, went into foster with first-time fosters (but 5-time PAWS adopters!) They loved her laidback energy and sweetness.

7. Tia (left) absolutely nailed her introduction to her new foster sister.

8. Our declawed beauty Quark, 4, came out to say hello! She is available for adoption.

9. And, last but not least, Cleon Woofers is also headed into foster with a new volunteer!

Happy gotcha day, Leo! His new people grew up with pets, but he is their first kitten they’ve rescued on their own. The 3 of them were such a great match.

This means 2 out of 3 of our nearly identical black kitten “triplets” have found their homes. More good news (and photos) to come!

BIG HUNK ALERT: Atom is an impossibly handsome Maine C**n mix guy who weighed in today at slightly north of 18 pounds. He’s 4 and one of 3 cats, all declawed, who had found themselves living in a home with several intensely not cat-friendly or cat-safe dogs. They needed an escape hatch, and we were able to take them in.

The other two cats, Molecule (M) and Quark (F), were going through some first-day jitters and hiding when we visited. So, no photos yet. But, they should be out and feeling more comfortable tomorrow.

Because all 3 are declawed, we’d like to see them adopted into a home where they can be a single cat or live with cats who have been previously declawed. If you have questions about this, DM us.

Curly Fry wants to wish you a happy ! Curly is, first and foremost, a meatball. 💪 He would definitely be hired as a bouncer at a club based on looks alone. His thick-boy neck and big block head give off a "don't mess with me" vibe.

Under his tough-guy facade, though, he has a gooey soft center. 🥹 He's obsessed with stuffed toys and will more than gladly carry one around in his mouth all day. He likes to snuggle up or lay at your feet and he's also got one eye on the door, just in case. Curly has some anxiety when he's all by himself, but he's crate trained and is working on staying calm when his people are away.

Curly Fry would love a home with someone who works remotely or is a homebody. He wants to be next to you as much as possible. He's not a big fan of kids, so an adult only home is preferred. He's not great with cats either, but he has lived with other dogs.

Krampus has found his guy!

Originally left behind in our parking lot, Krampus was adopted but had to return to PAWS because he wasn’t a great fit for the adopter’s other cat. That is not uncommon.

But, in a sweet twist, Krampus’ new dad had previously put in an application for him but was second in line, because we go by the order applications come in and are approved. So, when he heard Krampus was back at PAWS and once again available for adoption, it felt like kismet. He came in right away and took this beautiful boy home! The rest is Handsome Guy History!!
