Meredith's dogs went to their first NASDA trail (North American Sport Dog Association). These trials are designed to resemble historical working and competitive field work. Brit, Flow, Bocce, and Stanley got their Urban Locating 1 Titles. ALL of them got multiple Best of Breed and High In Trial titles. So proud of them!
Family Manners 202 class starts Wednesday, August 14th!
We want to offer a HUGE congratulations to Val and Daria for a GOLD medal dock diving performance this weekend! It was Val’s first time diving in a new location and his best jump today was 16’.6”!!! Way to go Team Val! You’ve made us very proud!
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our long time friend and client, Andrea Laiosa. We have known Andrea for over 16 years. She attended Canine PhD's first Manners Class in a parking lot in Inman Park. Andrea was one of the most dedicated pet parents we have had the pleasure of working with. She brought her dogs to classes weekly. She worked tirelessly and diligently to help her first rescue, Lily, overcome severe anxiety and emotional trauma. To our amazement, Lily went onto compete in large agility trials! After Lily's passing, Andrea adopted Penny, a small stray dog that another Canine PhD client found in N. Georgia. Andrea was a huge advocate of animal rescue, animal welfare, and reward based training. We are absolutely shattered and devastated by this loss. Andrea's laughter and kindness will live forever in hearts. May her memory be a blessing to her family, friends and to everyone who knew Andrea and loved her.
We have been teaching reactive dog classes for 16 years. This is a video of a dog doing a “set up” and preparing for class. A month ago, this pup could not be this close to another dog without barking and lunging. Well done, Casey for getting this pup prepped for class! ❤️
New Perfect Puppy class starts Friday, August 9th at 12:00pm!
While Penny was boarding with us, Diane took her to agility class for a little bit of fun! Penny is an amazing rescue who brings joy to everyone she meets!
Daliah is a regular at Canine PhD. While she stays with us, Daliah plays with our younger pups and friendly adult dogs. She also works as the perfect decoy for reactive dog set-ups. We love this versatile girl so much!
K9 Ice practices her water retrieves during her staycation at Canine PhD.
The amazing Casey Griffin (who just earned her Fear Free Certification) is playing the “Bucket Game” with Wagner. This game can help veterinary visits become more predictable and less stressful. Nice job, Casey and Wagner! Congratulations to Casey for becoming a Fear Free Certified Professional. ❤️
Therapy Dog class starts Saturday, August 3rd - sign up now to get your spot! https://www.yourcaninephd.com/group-classes/specialty
Congrats to Cookie and Heather for earning Cookie’s CGC title today! Bethany did a fabulous job coaching this class!
Brit says, “What?!? Me?!?”
Congratulations to Brit who just earned an invite to Distance Jump at the 2024 NADD Regionals! Way to go buddy!
When we can, we like to help dogs in need. Jazz, a one year old Giant Schnauzer, needed to be rehomed so we stepped in to help. To keep her from going to a shelter, we had her guardians relinquish her to us. She is a fabulous girl. We have already found her furever home. She will meet her new family in just a few days! ❤️❤️❤️
Congrats to Brit! He is now DE (Dock Elite) and DM (Dock Master) and ranked in the top 30 Border Collies in the US.
Our pool is open!
We are hosting swim + dock diving classes AND private swim + dock diving lessons! Join us for some fun in the sun!
This is ICE. She is a search and rescue dog.
SAR dogs must be able to swim.
It only took Ice several minutes to figure out how to jump into this novel body of water. It was so gratifying to see her go from tentative to full tilt to retrieve her toy!
Way to go Jen and Ice!
This weekend our trainers attended the IAABC Conference in Asheville!
We believe in supporting our trainers by offering them unique opportunities to learn and grow in their careers. Staying up-to-date on the most modern, humane training practices while understanding your dog's behavior is just as important to us as it is to you.

Our clients come in every shape, size, and breed! Zaza the Saluki is a reserved girl whose owners would like to help build her confidence and socialize her. She is coming out of her shell and doing well with acclimating to her equipment, meeting new people, and walking nicely on leash. Our Board and Train program means she can focus with minimal distractions. If you need help with your pup give us a call! #caninephd #boardandtrain #rewardbasedtraining #dogtraining
Meredith took a day to take her border collies to a farm to practice herding, here’s Brit showing off! #caninephd #herdingdog #bordercollie #sheepherding
This little yeehaw pup is taking a break from farm life to train with Meredith! He’s understanding structure and routines, recall, getting comfortable wearing equipment and gaining some social skills. Say hello to Bluey!
Look at the huge smile on this fluffy girl!! 🥰 Meet Luna, our new foster! Luna is a victim of unfortunate circumstance due to housing insecurity & financial struggle. Rather than see her go to a high-kill shelter or remain tethered outside, Meredith (aka Queen of Big Hearts) had her transported here to be cared for, trained, and loved on until the right home comes along… that home could be yours! Luna is about 1-2 years old, super social, and a total lovebug. She likes people, other dogs, cats, & settles well in a crate. She even enjoyed some grooming without fuss! Currently she is underweight & will be seeing our vet tomorrow. Our trainers will be working with her so if you stop in don’t forget to give her a pet! #caninephd #fosterdog #rescuedog #rescuedogtraining #livestockguardiandog
