BAC Merch! We received a quote on shirts. Comfort Color tshirts will be $25, Champion sweatshirt $35, Champion hoody $40. We will order blue, berry, and pink for tshirts. Sweatshirts and hoodies will be black. I am planning to purchase for staff, and will get some to sell in the clinic, but since folks expressed interest on here, let me know what you would like and what size and color so I can get an idea of how many to order. 2XL and up will be a few dollars more. I think the mock ups look great!

Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you to all who have served, both human and canine. We appreciate your service!

This super sweet, but mischievous, 17 week old puppy swallowed his owner's AirPod yesterday. We tried inducing vomiting and then tried waiting 24 hours to allow it to pass naturally, but it was not moving. Dr. Greenbaum was able to use our endoscope to visualize and remove the wayward AirPod. πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸΆπŸŽ§

This poor pup took a tumble while chasing a squirrel on Friday and sustained a nasty fracture of his elbow. Dr. Pearlman North Alabama Veterinary Orthopedics was able to come to our office Monday and perform this very complex surgical repair to hopefully get this guy on the road to recovery! We appreciate Dr. Pearlman lending his expertise and responding so quickly! πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ¦΄πŸ₯

We got to see sweet Bojangles the French Bulldog today for his first annual visit. As a pup he had some pretty dramatic stenotic nares (closed off nasal openings), so Dr. G performed a resection using our Ellman radiosurgery unit that uses radio frequency to cut and cauterize tissue. Bojangles's mom was kind enough to share this collage of his nose before surgery, immediately post op, and now 7 months post surgery.

Opening the closed off nasal passages can make a huge difference in the quality of life of brachycephalic (short nosed) dogs by dramatically improving air flow, and we often recommend it be done while they are already under anesthesia for their spay or neuter.

Whew, the Summertime rush hit and I haven't had an opportunity to continue the weekly equipment features. Getting back on track!

At Bryan Animal Clinic, although we strive to maintain a down home, relaxed, small neighborhood practice environment, we are proud to offer state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. We are going to start featuring a piece of equipment weekly! πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ₯πŸ”¬πŸ©»

Up next is our digital radiography. Radiographs provide excellent visualization of bones and tissue and provide the "big picture" to complement the more focused ultrasound findings featured previously.

Digital radiographs provide a much higher resolution image than traditional film and allow for making precise measurements that can be calculated by the computer. We use this often to assess heart size using a vertebral heart score (VHS).

First up is our ultrasound machine. This is Dr. Greenbaum's favorite piece of equipment, and he couldn't practice without it! Dr. G has a special interest in ultrasonography and took an advanced rotation in ultrasound as a student at MSU.

We use ultrasonography for everything from obtaining urine samples (while being able to assess the bladder for stones or tumors at the same time) to performing fine needle aspirates as a non-invasive way to assess tumors inside the body. Ultrasound has become an extension of the physical exam, and through rapid point of care techniques such as AFAST, we are able to look inside your pet quickly and painlessly to obtain much more information than can be obtained from physical exam palpation alone.

We are proud to provide this modern imaging modality for our wonderful patients!
