Today is Giving Tuesday, a celebration of generosity and a reminder that everything we do is made possible by you, our incredible community. Each of these sweet faces represents only a portion of the animals HSNEI was able to help find homes for this year. Adoptions are a huge part of our mission, but HSNEI also helps pets and pet owners in many other ways.

Thanks to your support, we’re able to:
~ Provide low-cost veterinary care to families in need
~ Host wellness clinics that help pets stay healthy and safe
~ Offer affordable spay and neuter services to reduce overpopulation
~ Assist pet owners in keeping pets in their homes whenever possible
~ Help pet owners and lost pets reunite through social media outreach
~ Enable students and other community members an opportunity to work towards requirements for programs such as Silver Cord, Corporate Programs, and Community Service.

Every single one of these depends on your kindness and generosity.

On this Giving Tuesday, there are several ways to give in whatever way you can:
~ Monetary Donations - every dollar helps us save and improve lives
~ Physical Donations - towels, blankets, toys, and more-used or new
~ Volunteer Time - walk or just hang out with dogs, cuddle and help socialize cats, or help with events
~ Foster a Pet - give an animal a safe place to stay and feel the love of a family while they wait for their forever home

PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SULLY IN THE FREDERIKA/SUMNER AREA!! He was live-trapped by a neighbor and released on a gravel road 25 miles from his home a few weeks ago. He was let out on Joy Avenue about 1.5 miles west of Highway 63, west of Frederika. He is not accustomed to the cold or to being outdoors overnight. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is a very sweet boy, but is most likely scared, cold, and hungry, so he may act timid. If you see him or have taken him in, please contact HSNEI so we can help him get home. There is a reward for his return.

As this holiday weekend wraps up and we reflect on what we’re grateful for, we would like to express our gratitude to World's Best Cat Litter and explain why we’re so THANKFUL for them. World’s Best provides all of HSNEI’s cats, both at the shelter and in foster homes, with all the litter they need free of charge. They do this for over 120 of their shelter partners across the country.

Having a consistent supply of quality cat litter donated whenever our stockroom is running low is a tremendous burden lifted. It means we don’t have to worry about finding room in our budget for litter purchases. Instead, we can redirect those vital funds to where they’re needed most: medical care, quality food, essential supplies, and finding forever homes for the dogs and cats in our care.

THANK YOU to World’s Best Cat Litter for supporting HSNEI and our mission and for making a real difference to cats in need by helping them stay clean, comfortable, and ready to meet their forever families!!

PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ROCKY AND BEAR IN THE VILLAGE CREEK/ELON (WATERVILLE) AREA!! Rocky is the larger black dog and Bear is the smaller tan and black dog. They have been missing since Tuesday morning. They are both very friendly and will respond to their names being called. If you see them or have taken them in please contact HSNEI so we can help get them home safe.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! The cats and dogs of HSNEI had quite a feast today to celebrate the holiday. The menu included roast chicken, green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, yummy wet cat food and treats, pumpkin pie (all cat and dog friendly) and more!! There were even frozen pup cups for dessert and delicious chews for the dogs to take back to their kennels to enjoy later. THANK YOU to LuLu & BB's Pet Market for the incredibly generous donations that made this meal extra special. We hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday with lots of good food, family, and friends!!

Kolby’s friends, Oskar and Julie, were scooped up by their forever families this past weekend, leaving this sweet boy all alone. This adorable 4-year-old Miniature Poodle pup is just about the sweetest, most playful guy you’ve ever met. He adores toys and will run from one end of the Big Yard to the other, sniffing out every single one he can find. He’s a big fan of fetch and tug and will play both for as long as you’re able. Kolby does great on a leash and loves going for walks. He’s an affectionate boy who loves pets and previously lived with both other dogs and cats. Little Angelou made the most of this beautiful day by soaking up all the sun she could with her Pug foster friend.
