HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! The cats and dogs of HSNEI had quite a feast today to celebrate the holiday. The menu included roast chicken, green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, yummy wet cat food and treats, pumpkin pie (all cat and dog friendly) and more!! There were even frozen pup cups for dessert and delicious chews for the dogs to take back to their kennels to enjoy later. THANK YOU to LuLu & BB's Pet Market for the incredibly generous donations that made this meal extra special. We hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday with lots of good food, family, and friends!!

Kolby’s friends, Oskar and Julie, were scooped up by their forever families this past weekend, leaving this sweet boy all alone. This adorable 4-year-old Miniature Poodle pup is just about the sweetest, most playful guy you’ve ever met. He adores toys and will run from one end of the Big Yard to the other, sniffing out every single one he can find. He’s a big fan of fetch and tug and will play both for as long as you’re able. Kolby does great on a leash and loves going for walks. He’s an affectionate boy who loves pets and previously lived with both other dogs and cats. For more information on Kolby or to fill out an adoption application, visit www.hsnei.org/adoptabledogs!!

We have some pint-sized new additions at HSNEI, and they are as cute as can be. Kolby, Oskar, and Julie are soaking up all kinds of love and attention from staff and volunteers at the shelter, but are ready to move on to bigger and better things by finding their forever families. Adorable Kolby and Julie are 4-year-old Poodle mixes, and handsome Oskar is a five-year-old Aussie mix. All three are sweet, affectionate pups who previously lived with cats and other dogs. For more information or to fill out an adoption application, visit www.hsnei.org/adoptabledogs.

We just can’t figure out why beautiful Ella hasn’t been scooped up by her forever family yet. At just 8 months old, this sweet girl has spent half her life waiting for someone to come for her. Ella was found as a pup wandering scared and all alone, and that experience seems to have only deepened her love of people. She is always excited to see staff and volunteers, even if it’s just for a brief hello or a quick pat. She loves going for walks, meeting new people, and doing the perfect “sit” for treats. For more information on Ella or to fill out an adoption application, visit www.hsnei.org/adoptabledogs!!

Today is World Kindness Day, a day to remember the positive impact that kindness can have on individuals, communities, and the world at large. We can’t think of a kinder thing to do than taking a homeless pet out of the shelter and giving them a second chance at life by opening your heart and home to them. If you’ve been considering a new family member, all of these beautiful boys and girls are currently waiting for families. More information and applications can be found at www.hsnei.org/adoptablecats and www.hsnei.org/adoptabledogs.

Adopting isn’t the only way you can help, though. If you aren’t able to adopt right now, fostering an animal temporarily is the next best thing. You can find more information on becoming a foster family at https://new.shelterluv.com/form/volunteer/HSNI/37798-foster-family-application.

Another way you can help make a significant impact is by volunteering. Cats and dogs at the shelter are always happy to make new friends. The simple act of walking a dog or petting a cat can significantly improve that animal’s day, and the socialization helps them find a home more easily. For more information on volunteering, please visit https://www.hsnei.org/volunteer.

If you aren’t currently able to adopt, foster, or volunteer, donations —whether monetary or new or used items —are greatly appreciated and allow us to continue helping animals in need. You can make donations directly by visiting https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/2ab57243-b35d-4c66-8bcb-86dc316f1413.
