While we knew this day was coming, nothing could soften the blow. Luca-D came to us in 2014 when Grey was just 6-months and she 8 weeks. Needless to say, she and our boys shared their best childhood memories together. LuLu came to be after Tovah and I had lost the third of three dogs, in a very short yet painful year and a half. Which brought us to her name, Luca-D (Love U Clyde Ady and Deeter.
In all my years I have never seen or been with a dog who just loved everyone so much. When we would walk downtown, whether it be Stoughton or Decorah, if a passerby did just that and forwent giving her a pat on the head she would turn to them and whimper and whine.
Luca was the product of an amazing organization, Wisconsin Rottweiler Rescue (which has since shut down due to the passing of its founder) by way of Cincinnati OH. An absolutely deplorable situation, which we have done our best to forget and often why I felt she loved so hard, early life was so incredibly difficult for Lu. I like to believe she was just happy for the second chance.
For those of us who have known the love of a dog and delt with the inevitable, understand the absolute void they leave when they pass. The complexity of opening our hearts again and being vulnerable speaks to that love, why else would we be willing to go through this pain again? Their love is so undeniable and unconditional.
Luca was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer just this September. Dr. Maddie and her team at Decorah Vet were absolutely amazing throughout her treatment and care. This was my first dog who actually got excited to go to the vet, I mean it meant more belly rubs so why wouldn’t she love it. Even upon our last visit and our final goodbye, she waged her tail the entire time. She was such a good girl!
We’ll miss you LuLu, more than words could ever express. You were my Velcro dog, our boys best friend, mom’s only little girl, and an absolutely beautiful ambassador for your breed.
Love you and miss you.

Today at our Decorah adoption event you’ll have the opportunity to meet “Bailey”. Bailey is a six month old chocolate lab who is an absolute honey! We are receiving donations to help in Bailey’s much needed surgery due to retinal detachments and early cataracts.
Tis the season to give, and this season we are hoping to give Bailey an opportunity for a full happy and healthy life.

We will be at the Waverly Chamber Of Commerce’s Christmas on Main event this Thursday 6-8pm!🎄🎅🏼🐾
We will be joining LuLu & BB's Pet Market in their store front. We will be handing out free dog treat bags and talking about our services to anyone who would like some information! Lulu and BB’s will be talking about their products and will be open for business that night as well. Come support this new business and welcome them to the Waverly area!

The Decorah Police Department is once again partnering with the Decorah Community Food Pantry for the 2024 Fill the Squad event. Collection boxes for nonperishable items have been placed at Walmart, Fareway, Hy-Vee, Oneota Food Coop as well as the Law Enforcement Center Lobby. Items needed most for the upcoming holiday season are flour, sugar, salt, cooking oil, cereal, pasta noodles, canned soups and dish soap as well as any shelf stable foods. Collection boxes will be picked up the morning of November 22 to be ready for those families in need to enjoy their Thanksgiving meals. Thank you in advance to all who wish to participate in this great program.
