FAQ’s:
What does a typical day look like for my dog if they go on a morning hike? Sky and I will pick up your dog along with a few other friends and take them to a local forest for a 90+ min long hike in the woods. I will send photos for you to see the fun as well as a GPS tracked map of our adventure. Post hike, all dogs are taken back to their respective homes, tired, socialized and happy. When
do you hike? We hike year round when it's sunny, rainy, windy and snowy. If the weather is too dangerous we don’t hike. We will let you know ASAP if there will be any changes to the schedule. We can certainly let your dog out if you need us to even if we can’t hike, just ask. When do you pick up/drop off? Pick up for weekday morning hikes can range from 9:30-10:30am and dogs will typically be home between 12:30-1:30pm. For afternoon hikes pickup will be between 1:30-2:30pm and drop off between 3:30-4:30pm. Weekend hikes take place midday in order to meet all of our clients’ needs. How many dogs hike with you and Sky? Typically we have 5 friends hiking with us. How do you pick up my dog if I’m not at home? Most clients provide us with one of the following: a door code, a key or a garage code. Whatever you are most comfortable with. How much fun will my dog have? A ton of fun! They will run through the trees, jump over logs, chase squirrels and play stick keep away with their friends! All hikes will incorporate some form of water play too when available. Dogs usually wait by the door each day waiting to go, I know Sky does! Do you only take larger dogs on your group hikes? No. While most dogs are on the larger side we also take smaller dogs as well, especially in the afternoons. The shorter afternoon hikes are great for puppies getting used to the routine as well. What if my dog isn’t spayed or neutered? Can they still go on the group hikes? It all depends, it really is case by case. Contact us for more info. What is your cancellation policy? We allow you to cancel at any time up until the night before our hike at no charge. But… If you have scheduled a service with us and either forget to cancel by 5pm or if we cannot get in to pick up your dog we will charge you the full rate. Will my dog be off-leash? Yes, if he or she has good recall and likes to socialize with other dogs. We often start dogs on leash so they learn the routine – pickup, hike with friends, go home to their family. Most dogs thrive in the “pack” environment so they like to stay with the pack. While not all dogs graduate to off leash hikes, they have a blast anyway. If you would prefer to keep them on leash we can certainly accommodate that. We leash up all the dogs before we get close to the end of our hikes. We recommend all dogs who join us to have a tracking device on their collars. Sky uses Fi but there are many other options such as Tracktive, Whistle, Apple Air tag (not the most reliable option as it doesn't work well in the woods but it is a good inexpensive backup), etc. I will definitely go over all off leash questions at the meet and greet.
