Loaded with plants for this week! We have large and healthy Crinum available, Rotala magenta, the Ludwigia “white” is converting to its immersed growth, and the Litorella uniflora is also starting to convert to its short carpeting structure! The Litorella will grow out in a mat that only hits about 2” talk and actually looks like a grass carpet.

Back in 2012 this was part of a large open system on a Manhattan pier we helped build for an educational NFP. It pulled water directly from the Hudson River below, turbidity and all, then circulated it to a few thousand gallons of displays housing local aquatic life. There were large pools for bigger species down to a couple small tanks displaying how oysters are able to clean the water through filter feeding. Cleanouts everywhere to keep the pipes from clogging with various filter feeders.

It was late March and the weather was freezing, at the end of a pier in an unheated warehouse with 20 something degree winds whipping around it. It was miserable. No idea where the other pics are. If I find them I’ll post more.

A few Red Tail Gobies (Sicyopterus lagocephalus) came in with the order this week! These freshwater gobies are larger than a lot of the other gobies you’ve seen in the store. They’re just as active and out exploring the tank as other species. The males get a bright blue across their entire body and their tails get brighter when they’re courting. We don’t see these often and we only got a few in, so if you’re interested I wouldn’t wait.

This weeks order has some of our more popular fish making a return! We have more Espei rasboras arriving after you guys wiped us out. Espeis will wow you if you give them a chance to settle into your tank. We also have a couple new species we’re excited about as well as some new strains of other fish we haven’t seen in the store yet. We are loaded with some great looking and healthy plants!

Any interest in Anableps? Might be able to get a few in this week. If you’re into the weird stuff, these guys have four eyes, or more accurately, their pupils are split giving them a view above and below the water line. These aren’t beginner fish and they do have specific needs. They do make for an interesting display if you have the setup for them.

This 40”x40”x30” support structure is moving on to the next phase of assembly soon. This is the step in the project where multiple components of the final piece (only seen in CAD so far) that have been built in separate places will come together and start to take its final shape for testing. This is where the fun starts in these projects. The best part, once this build gets ironed out we can start working on the life size version.

We have two Rio Vichada Altums still available. If you’ve been wanting Altums, these are some of the rarer ones and they do not show up often!

Moonspot Licorice Gourami available in the store! These nano gouramis max out around 1.25”, are peaceful, somewhat shy, and do best in pairs or small groups. They come from blackwater streams in Borneo with lots of plants, so these would not be considered beginner fish. If you have places for them to hide, they’ll be out more and they’re worth the effort when they start coming out and displaying!

Palauan Stiphodon Gobies available in the store! These hardy gobies are similar to other Stiphodons relying on biofilm as their main source of food, making them great cleaners. They aren’t shy, but should be kept with peaceful tank mates and do best in small groups.

A couple of the large Rio Vichada Altum Angels that came in with this weeks order! WOW are these guys awesome looking and this was just after acclimation, so they’re only going to get nicer. Everything came in great and I have to give a shout out to Southwest Airlines Cargo for stepping up and making sure we got our order despite the office closing really early today. It took almost two hours but they made sure someone showed up to reopen the office and get this shipment cleared! It could have very easily been a really bad day.

We have a seriously impressive order coming in this week. Several new to the store species including some rarities and hard to find fish. Not my pic, I definitely stole this off the internet since I haven’t personally seen this species yet. It’s a great pic and whoever took them deserves all the credit. It’s an insanely cool tetra that should be arriving with this order. Still, this isn’t the fish we’re most excited about receiving!

These loaches do an amazing job keeping your sand bed clean! They’re shy at first and will bury themselves, but once they settle in they’ll spend all day cruising around making sure your tank looks immaculate!

This weeks order is stacked with new species to the store! These Red Tail Hillstream Loaches did not disappoint!

We still live Springeri Damsels, but the attitude on those fish can be a lot!

These automated RODI units Aqua FX Richard at Afishionado Channel created are really great! We needed an automated system for this install so staff didn’t have to babysit water production and this has been running flawlessly making sure there’s always water available in both storage tanks!

Happy and Healthy New Year from the Fluid Dynamics International team! We had a very busy 2024 and we can’t wait to show you all the amazing projects we have planned for 2025. It’s going to be a great year!

This batch of Ivanacara adoketa are starting to color up! These are striking as adults and we’re fighting the urge to just keep some for ourselves in one of the planted tanks. We have a limited number of these!

This is from when this display had just been completed a few years ago, before it was planted. We use this video as an example of how natural Kessil lights look when mounted properly. The sparkle lines created in the display are close to what you would see in natural sunlight with an impressive color spectrum as well.

Blue Eye Golden Congo Tetras looking killer in one of our retail systems! Definitely one of the more attractive branches on an already good looking family tree!

The best looking batch of Neon Red Blue Eyes we’ve seen in a while! Just absolute stunners!
