A note from Kelly Valentine, the owner and founder of Paws Over Texas....
Hello Everyone! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Kelly and I am what people call "a true animal lover"!!! I am a Mom of 3 crazy, but loving, wonderful kiddos and a HUGE pet family, from dogs to cats, to an iguana and a turtle! I love my crazy, vibrant long hair and you never know what color (I have greys to c
over these days! Haha!) that I have and I love my tattoos and always loooking to add another piece to myself to help tell my story! They make me who I am, working on getting Kelly Valentine 100% again, and fun colored hair, tattoos, dogs, dogs, and dogs are what will be the medicine to bringing the Kelly everyone knows and loves back!!! So here I go....
As a child growning up I was not allowed to have a dog :(
I did have a gerbil that had babies one time and I did bring home a turtle from the ditch by the golf course another time, and we had a few outside cats that just weren't people cats. Dogs and farm animals, horses in particular, have always been my passion and I have been one of the lucky ones to be able to pursue a career in the animal industry. I worked at Bay Area Animal Hospital for a veterinarian named Dr. Schulte (RIP sir) and held onto that job for a year, before I had to give that up because in high school I was very much involved in FFA and raised steers my junior and senior years so a job became to much with the added duties. Back to that statement I said above, "I was not allowed to have a dog when I was growing up", I know so sad right?!?! Well I can remember as a "tween" walking over to a neighbors house one day and seeing my very first Siberian Husky with those crystal blue eyes! It was love at first site and I knew I wanted this sweet, happy boy to be a friend of mine so I offered my neighbors a whopping 50 cents to walk their dog around the block everyday they needed. I offered to pay them!! They laughed and allowed me to walk him when needed, let me keep my 50 cents and in return my friends, sister, and I were allowed to swim in their pool and most importantly more time to "doggie sit" with the husky that also swam! I have been very fortunate to continue my career in the animal industry throughout my life with 18 years of working in the veterinary field, to now being a full time pet sitter/business owner. Those little lessons in life ya know, how I use to try and pay a neighbor to walk their dog because I LOVED him so much, to now I have a "Pet Sitting Family" that uses and TRUSTS me to watch their pet families? I help them and they help me, with any and all pet like situations. I do boarding, daily visits, medical cases, geriatric pets, rescue, and yes puppies and kittens, I help and provide for them ALL in anyway I can, that is who I am and this is what I am passionite and love to do!!! After some life changing events over the last 5 years, I slipped away some and at times just was well lets just say mentally gone, but I want the Kelly I was before back and I know what I must do, or more importantly for myself what I want to do. So Paws Over Texas is now branching out and instead of just fostering for other rescue groups and aiding and assisiting them, Paws Over Texas is going to add a "rescue" side to my business. I personally want to help out some of these dogs that do not have a chance or would be euthanized if taken to a shelter. I am very partial and passionate to special needs animals and nursing them back to health and an adoptable state. We have set up a "fund" account that is going to just be a GENERAL "Paws Over Texas Rescue Fund" account. Any animal that we use funds on, this money will help myself and those helping Paws Over Texas out more than you know. When I say I am in this line of work for the love of it and not the $$$$, know it is the truth!! I want to provide for so many, but I personally have learned to set my limits. Tough life lesson, but one well taught and one I learned from. ;)
Paws Over Texas will always upload the invoices as we want everyone that is contributing to know where the $$ is going and being used for. Truth and honesty, this world is lacking sadly, and I want to not be one of those providing to that equation, much less have my business name that I have worked so hard forso many years, to take any negative or bad comments. I love this job and I love what I do for a living!!! :)
Much love to you all and for those of you that have walked and been though these last 5 years with me, and know the up and downs, thank you with my WHOLE heart!! You all are the ones that keep me motivated and moving forward!! Xoxo!! Kelly Valentine aka "Val" :)
