We’re interrupting your cloudy, rainy day in hopes of making it brighter. Mama Cow and her little babies are doing great at the rescue with us! Mama Cow is coming around to people and her babies are just the sweetest little things ever! They’re learning how to use the doggy doors and they’re doing great going potty on the pads. They’ll be adoptable once they’re old enough to get spayed. Mama is pending a spay and she will be available as well. We’re just waiting for her to dry up. Just look at those faces! 🐱 Kittens, kittens, and more kittens! These boys and girls are looking for homes to call their own! These guys and gals are dewormed, flea/tick treated, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and can be microchipped upon request. All are socialized but some are shy. Some are very outgoing. Our adoption fees are $100 each or $150 for 2 kittens to be adopted together. They’re all socialized with other cats/kittens. Today was a very emotionally taxing day. We seen a plea for these two sisters and we just couldn’t look the other way. These two are some of the most neglected and beat down dogs we have ever encountered.

Lila and Lola are 6 year old littermates. They were beaten their whole lives and we suspect that Lola (the one with the droopy face) was beaten to the point of brain damage. Despite everything, they are some of the sweetest, quietest girls. They haven’t made a peep the entire day they’ve been with us. They hid under our car seat covers the entire ride home. They haven’t moved, they haven’t barked, they let us cut their nails and give them a medicated bath without any trouble. They are the most emotionally broken dogs we have ever taken on.

They need to be fully vetted. Vaccines, spays, both need dentals due to the ground down nubs in their mouth, medication for their skin, flea treatment, dewormer, microchips, they need it all and more. They have a long road ahead of them. We cannot thank our emergency foster enough for providing a safe space for them while we get them better. We are so sad for the life they have lived so far but we are so happy for the lives they’re about to live. ❤️‍🩹

We need an emergency foster for these 2 sweethearts. They’re getting euthanized before August 12th. They’re sisters, 6 yrs old. Lila and Lola. They were abused and neglected their whole lives. The person who currently has them is losing her house and she has nowhere for them to go, so they will be euthanized.

I've been trying to find rescues for a while now. My mom is on a fixed income and really tried helping with them. They're scared of black men because that's who abused them. Lila and Lola are sisters and they depend on each other. I believe they're 6 years old. Very sweet and love being with other dogs and cats. Lola (lab) looks like she had a stroke. Her head tilts to the right. They're skin needs some type of medicine. It's really dry.

We have the means to help them. We have the means to get them better. We need someone to foster them during that time. We need someone who can commit to these sweet girls. We will provide you with food, crates, toys, vetting, whatever you need. We just need you to house them and love them. We’re on extremely limited time for these girls. Help us help them please! If you can foster, please message us! In order to foster you must be within an hour of Monroe County and all animals in your home must be up to date on vetting.

People aren’t adopting, fosters are returning, we get urgent pleas every day for perfectly good dogs that will die in shelters due to overcrowding. Today we welcomed these 4 lovely girls to our rescue. Momma and 3 babies came from a domestic violence situation and the partner fleeing refused to leave these gals behind. Our foster family is still coming up with their names. Today they were dewormed, vaccinated, and they all got a dawn dish soap spa day. We will get them all fully vetted, healthy, fattened up, and socialized. Momma is so incredibly sweet. Our volunteer transporting said this was the quietest group of puppies she had ever transported before. Momma was laying right in the basket with her babies the whole 2 hr ride. Welcome to safety, girls ❤️🐾

📣 Calling all senior dog & Alaskan Husky/Malamute lovers! 📣

Adoptable Lief is looking for his furever home to live out the rest of his life! Despite being 12 years old, this boy is very lively and high energy. Lief is great with other dogs and has no reaction to cats. He loves playing in his kiddie pool and rolling around in the grass. Lief is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. We just got him professionally groomed and he’s feeling fabulous! We’re still in the process of getting him a dental cleaning, but if you choose to adopt him we will cover the cost and make sure he will still get his cleaning.

This was posted on another page and may help those of you who find a kitten(s). 🐈‍⬛🐱Most shelters and rescues are full and get messages daily about kittens.

“Everyone is finding little kittens riddled with fleas. If kittens are under 2 pounds, we don’t do anything for fleas but a bath in Dawn. But please do so, especially if their gums are turning white. Otherwise, chemicals are too toxic for them if not at 2 lbs.

However if you find a kitten that is lethargic, please give it a tad of karo syrup immediately and then a few more times an hour to get its blood sugar back up and keep it on a heating source before you give it a bath. Because no matter how warm or lukewarm your water is that you are bathing it in, a bath will drop their body temperature just a tad and that might be all it takes to slip over the rainbow bridge.

Kittens with goopy eyes should be cleaned with warm water and given terramycin ointment in their eyes 3 times a day. You can find it at Tractor Supply.

We can all do our part to help. Because most likely when you find one it will take days to find someone to help you with it and what you do for it in those couple of days could mean life or death. And please DO NOT GIVE IT COWS MILK.

If it won't eat canned kitten food, you can give it chicken flavored baby food or kitten formula depending on age.

If you find a litter of kittens under 3-4 weeks of age, leave them alone! If they are quiet and healthy they have a mama. If they are sick and screaming, most likely they don’t. Know when to intervene and when not to.”

We have had a fantastic weekend! Two adoption events, one at Pirolli Park and one at the Dundee Farmers Market. We’ve had two adoptions, our hound brothers Hunter & Forrest! Thank you so much Thresia Pirolli for sponsoring Hunter’s adoption fee and hosting us ❤️ We would also like to thank a local group of the most generous kids for having a lemonade stand and donating all of the proceeds to us as well as making us the cutest cards! You are all amazing! 💓🐾

After the Farmers Market, we pulled our lucky winner for the Cheesecake and Sourdough raffle. Congratulations Jenny Lutz! 🥳 Thank you to everyone who participated, especially our generous bakers who donated their time and goods!

This weekend we have also taken in 6 kittens. 1 singleton with an eye issue, 3 siblings born under a deck, and 2 siblings who were trapped in a dumpster. There are SO many cat and kitten plea’s, we cannot keep up. Kitten season is nowhere near over. If you can foster kittens, please foster some kittens! We will provide everything.

How in the world has our Smooshy-Faced-Shimmy not had a single application⁉️ Shimmy is a favorite of ours, and yet she has no interest⁉️ EXPLAIN‼️

Shimmy is a 1 and 1/2 yr old Shar-Pei mix. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Shimmy is a submissive gal that gets along with just about any dog. We have not tried her with cats but with her being so submissive, we don’t see cats being an issue. Shimmy also loves to swim! She loved floating with her rescue mom in the pool. She hasn’t shown any signs of aggression toward anything. She just wants to be in your lap 24/7 and be where her favorite people are. Shimmy is the total package and we aren’t sure why she’s being overlooked.

Thanks to our incredible fosters, we got to pull 2 at-risk dogs from one of our shelter partners today. Both dogs were extremely neglected and both dogs were dumped by their owners. ☹️ Onto happier days, friends!

Lief is a 12 year old male Alaskan Malamute. He has really bad matting in his fur and a mouth full of rotten teeth. He has a grooming appointment set for this Saturday and we’re working on scheduling him a dental cleaning. Despite being 12, he is very lively! He is friendly, has met cats, dogs, and kids today and he has no problem with any of them. He’s a fantastic dog. It’s a shame he was abandoned.

Elsa is a 3 year old female German Shepherd. She has a large, gaping wound on her back and was covered in ticks. She was a frequent flyer at the shelter and this last time the owners said they didn’t want her back. Which is crazy because she is SO sweet! She is in a foster home with dogs, cats, and kids with no issues.

Once we get them all fixed up and fully vetted, they will be adoptable. (If their fosters don’t fail first 😉) Stay tuned! If you’re interested in fostering to help us save more dogs like Lief and Elsa, please do not hesitate to reach out!

We know dogs are dying everyday. We know it. We can’t help our community dogs if our community doesn’t help us. We have unfortunately been burned by a lot of fosters. We simply cannot pull ‘last call’ dogs if fosters aren’t committed to keeping them until they can be adopted. It does nobody any good to ‘save’ a dog, then return them to us with no warning. We have no backup plan and nowhere for them to go. There are no options for us.

If you want to foster, we will pay for everything you need. We will provide you a crate, food, collar/leash, heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention, vet care, anything you need, we will provide. However, we need you to commit. You cannot return them to us without trying to resolve whatever possible issue could arise. Fosters need to be able to transport to and from vet appointments and adoption events. We will try to work around your schedule and help transport when we can. Unfortunately there is no timeline on when dogs will get adopted. Some dogs are only with us for a short time, some dogs are with us for over a year. There are simply too many dogs and not enough adopters. All we ask is that you treat your fosters like your actual pets.

If you are interested in fostering, please do not hesitate to reach out. When you foster, you don’t only save one dog, you save two. The one you’re fostering, and the dog that takes its place in the shelter. We will do our very best to fit a dog in your home with your needs. We want everyone set up for success. There are SO many dogs that need help, whatever you need, we will find. If fostering seems like something you could do, please reach out. We need you.

They are still pending spay/neuter appointments but we are taking applications now and will hold them for you until they’re ready to go! We have a very special guy looking for a home of his own. Zeus is a large Pitbull/Bulldog/Dogue de Bordeaux mix. He’s been in foster since he was a itty bitty puppy. He’s now just under a year old. He’s grown up in a home with other large breed dogs and children. He plays a little rough with small children but other than that he’s an amazing dog. Zeus is potty trained as well as crate trained. He’s fully vetted, neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

🖤‼️ We are doing a biiiiig push for Big Mike because he is SO deserving of a home of his own! Any and all shares are much appreciated because you never know who will see his face and fall in love‼️🖤

🖤 Big Mike has completed training, listens well, knows commands, and is potty trained. He lovesss car rides and is the best cuddler around! He’s a big boy that doesn’t know it so it’s recommended that he goes to a home with no little children. Big Mike is dog selective, so meet and greets are required if he isn’t in an only dog home. He does best with submissive females. He doesn’t get along with cats.

🖤 Big Mike is 2 yrs old, approx 75lbs, neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm & flea/tick preventative. He can’t wait to be in a home of his own, and we can’t wait for that day. We’ll miss him dearly, but he deserves the best! He’s an amazing dog. We just hope other people see that too. Please be safe, drive sober, and try to keep your fingers/paws intact! Make sure your pets have tightly fitted collars with ID tags on, are medicated an hour or two before the fireworks start, their microchip information is current, and keep them in a dimly-lit room with a radio and fan going. 🎆🇺🇸
