DEKALB AFRICAN CICHLIDS is headed to the GCCA Fish Swap on Sunday 4/13/25 in Northbrook Il. Last swap of the spring season so stock up time on grow out projects, frozen foods and dry foods. We will have adult Africans along with a few juvie groups, frozen foods, dry foods, accessories and equipment. Will also be running a sponge filter special on the XY 380 size (40g). DEKALB AFRICAN CICHLIDS would like to extend our thanks to the folks at the Southern Wisconsin Fish Swap for providing still another very successful event. Great atmosphere in a farmers market set up simple free access with a huge turnout. Thank you also to Doubledays for a nice venue and to all the vendors who joined us to provide quality and variety. We will see everyone at their next event. We now move on to the Milwaukee Fish Swap in New Berlin WS on 4/6/25. Almost time to think about the outdoor ponds and summer projects.

DEKALB AFRICAN CICHLIDS will be attending our next swap in Northbrook Il on Sunday 2/23/25 held by the GCCA. We will feature our adult and juvenile African Cichlids, plecos, frozen foods, Flakes, Pellets, Wafers, accessories and equipment. We will not be available for pick up or meet up until 2/16/25 but will try to field all questions and pre orders if possible. Hope to see another great turn out. DEKALB AFRICAN CICHLIDS now heads to Tinley Park for our next swap with the folks at the Greenwater Aquarist Society. Held next Sat 2/1/25 at the Zion Lutheran Church 17100 69th Ave from 10a -1p. We will feature our Adult African Cichlids along with some juvie groups, plecos, Frozen Foods, Dry Foods, accessories and equipment. First swap of the new year at this swap so come on down and see what all the vendors are offering. All of the above have FB pages/ websites that provide times, addresses and vendor lists. Take advantage of these prior to the swaps. Here are some points to consider
1) Vendors are only able to bring a set amount to these events due to transport space, time due to loading and bagging fish. If you have a specific item you are looking for check the vendor list of the swap. Most provide contact info for vendors. Many vendors accept pre orders.
2) Most vendors deal in cash, some accept electronic payment and a few accept credit cards. Consider this before you have to track down an ATM.
3) These are family affairs so be patient and courteous to your fellow attendees and the vendors. We are all hobbyists with a shared interest.
4) Most folks like to make "1 round" just to see what is available. That said it is a first come first served deal. The biggest crowd is at the opening ( another reason to consider pre order..no rush)
5) Much of what are at these swaps is not easy to find. These provide a no shipping experience, a chance to speak to your supplier and an opportunity to trade ideas with some very good fish keepers.
6) Most important have a great time, grab business cards for future info and see all facets of the tropical freshwater fish world. May even come across a salty or two. Catch the wave!

DEKALB AFRICAN CICHLIDS will be finishing up our 2024 Fish Swap season with our two favorite swaps Sat 11/9/24 at the Greenwater Swap in Tinley Park and then Sunday 12/8/24 at the GCCA Swap in Northbrook. Time to check food supplies both frozen and dry until the 2025 swap seasons kicks off in January. We also have a nice selection of cichlids both adult and juvies for grow out, plecos, along with accessories and of course stimulating conversation. Hope to see you before we go on holiday break.

Fins and Feathers Fest will be held at the Lions Rec Center 411 Maple Street in Mt Prospect from 10A - 1P. DEKALB AFRICAN CICHLIDS will be a vendor featuring African Cichlids both adults and juvie groups, frozen fish foods by Hikari, dry foods. accessories and equipment for all things freshwater aquatic. We can only bring what fits in the truck so pre orders especially on frozen product is suggested. Lots of great vendors and sweet deals. Stop on by.
