We're so excited to share our new program Dog's Day Out, where you can take an adult dog on an adventure to a local pet friendly store, a hike or get a pup-cup! You can also take a dog home for up to three nights. You'll help give our dogs a much-needed break from the stress of the shelter and help us learn more about them so we can match them up with the best adopter. 🐾💙 A heartstealer who is good with cats! 🐈 💙🐾

Hi! I may have a silly name, Dwarf Pufferfish but I am certainly not a fish! What I am, however, is a wonderful 2 year old fella who is calm for my age and very loving and friendly. I'm also house-trained, walking to the door when it is time to go out. I am not a big boy, weighing just over 40 pounds. I got to spend a little time with a couple of cats and would nicely lay by them. I can be a little bit shy and nervous in new situations so just give me a little time, please. Our Little Critters volunteers are baffled as to why Vector, the Guinea pig, has not yet found a home. Here is what one of them had to say, "Vector really is a dream!❤️ He loves to snuggle & has excellent piggie manners! UPDATE: ADOPTED!

Please come and adopt tiny little me! My name is Chips and I'm a 2 year old little lady. I'm pretty freaked out with all of these big dogs at the shelter so don't be surprised if I'm nervous when we first get together. Goodness, I don't even weigh 10 pounds so the other dogs seem huge! Once I start to feel more secure, I enjoy getting petted and having my ears scratched. I'm a sweet little lap dog who would be very happy as the love of your life! To help me feel less afraid, I'm staying in a quieter spot. Please ASK to meet me!

Adoption update time: Please join us in wishing Wubby a Happy 10th Birthday! His family shared the following with us:

Just wanted to share an update on our boy Wubby (fka; Corey). We visited Tails for the first time in January of ‘16. He was the one and only dog we visited. Two days later he came home and made our family complete. We utilized the free training that came with adoption fees. He graduated from all 3 levels, and we’ve continued to use all those skills to this day! He will celebrate his double digits birthday in a few weeks. (July 1st🥳 …. But he hates 4th of July fireworks)😩 At almost 10, I’d say that Wubby’s not getting old by any means, just “Perfectly Seasoned”. Can’t imagine life without our Wubby boy! 🥰

Hi there! My name is Morgan and I'd like to come and live with you! I'm a very nice, friendly girl. I'm house-trained and can be left loose in a home when you're gone. I like treats (maybe a little too much) and give kisses. I'm a sweetheart who may not love other dogs but I definitely love people with all of my heart. June is Foster a Pet Month, and we urgently need new foster homes as we head into this summer. Each year, we experience an influx of animals in need during the spring and summer months. Many of these animals are on tight deadlines, and we have only days to find a safe place for them before they are at risk. Foster homes are absolutely crucial to our mission at Tails. Without them, our ability to save lives is severely limited. With foster homes, our potential to help is immeasurable.

We want to help more animals in 2024, but we need YOUR help to make this possible. We are actively seeking fosters for:

*Pregnant and nursing dogs and cats
*Bottle-fed puppies and kittens
*Litters of puppies and kittens
*Adults dogs

Tails will provide all necessary supplies and medical care. You simply need to offer a safe and loving environment for these animals to thrive.

Your support is vital to our efforts. Please consider becoming a foster home and help us save more lives this year!

PET OF THE WEEK

Please peer into my deep brown eyes and see the beauty of my soul! I'm Acheron, a 7 yr. old guy with long legs and a happy disposition. I'm also a big fella, weighing close to 80 pounds. I love people and show that with my affectionate, outgoing nature. I want nothing more than to please you. I know all sorts of things....like to ring a bell to tell you I need to go outside, and more commands than I can list here. Of course as much as I love treats, you could teach me just about anything. I'm not a fan of other dogs, though, so would prefer being your one and only. At my age, shelter life is not where I want to be. Happy Monday! It's time for our favorite post, the adoption celebration post! Our tails are wagging and our hearts are full after an amazing week of adoptions! Last week, 41 of our furry friends found their forever homes! Adoption Update time: Last Thursday was Cocoa’s birthday! She turned 4!🎉 We have been doing all of her favorite things - lots of extra snuggles, scratches and playing with her brother outside. Also turned her favorite fruit, “naners” into a new treat that she devoured instantly! She refuses to lay in the shade (we have a perfectly big umbrella she can lay under😂) She is our sunbathing queen!🤗

Rats!! Starfire and Raven are two female rats currently residing in our Little Critters Room. Rats make amazing pets. They are very smart and outgoing. They can learn all sorts of tricks, are curious and engaging. Plus they form close relationships with their human companions. Stop by Tails to see these fun girls. 🐀

🩷💙 SENIOR DOG LOVERS!!! 💙🩷

We have so many wonderful senior dogs at Tails right now and they NEED HOMES! These are some great older pups who should not be spending their golden years in a shelter. Senior dogs make excellent pets. They have grown out of the silly puppy years, most, if not all, have great house manners, and each one is super sweet and special. Many have been with us quite a few months. If you cannot adopt one yourself, please tell your friends about them. Or stop by the shelter and spend some time in a visiting room with them. Most have spent their lives in a home and are sad not to have families to love them anymore. 😢
