Heartworm infections are completely preventable as long as pet parents are administering parasite prevention medications every month. It’s much less costly to prevent than to treat a pet with mature heartworms affecting their heart, lungs, and cardiovascular system. Symptoms include persistent cough, lethargy, weakness, difficulty breathing, and swollen abdomen.
