December 1st

Hi, Santa-- I hear you're the Dude in the red suit who makes Christmas dreams come true. My name is Buddy, and my dream is everyday-- I want to find MY buddy. In order to do this, I've learned to wait for the people who sometimes don't close the door of my room right away. "Whoosh" give me a chance and I'm out and exploring down the hall, maybe the visiting room where there are some toys, or in the kitchen with the interesting smells. Someone always comes to put me back in my room, but that's not what I want. I wish they could take like 20-30 minutes and just sit and pet me. Yes, pet me until I'm so contented my pink tongue starts poking out between my teeth (my cute look), and I forget about needing to escape. Santa, if you could find me a good Buddy who would keep me inside, fill the food dish regularly, and pet my soft black fur......that would be super duper. I was outside looking for a home (got a notched ear) before the shelter, and had the FIV virus. I'm not sick-- witnesses will attest to my hall running ability-- but I'd like to stay inside now and enjoy the good life. How about it, Santa Buddy Old Pal-- can you make this cat's dream come true ?

The shelters schedule for Thanksgiving week

Monday open 12p-5p
Tuesday open 12p-5p
Wednesday open 12p-5p

Saturday open 11a-4p
Sunday CLOSED like normal

Just because the shelter is closed to the public from coming in, doesn’t mean that there won’t be staff and Volunteer there to care for each and every animal. The animals are cared for every day like they normally would be. Could you imagine if the Shelter only cared for the animals during the time that we’re open? That would be kind of crazy. The shelter being closed means staff and volunteers get to do a little bit of extra work with the animals and around the shelter.

If you have an animal emergency, you can contact your local law enforcement. They will be able to reach out to staff members if needed. If not an emergency, you can leave a message with the Shelter at 262-723-1000 and we will be checking voicemails during the time that we not open Thursday and Friday.

Thank you for your understanding and we hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving no matter how you spend it.

Happy with Stella and Sadie!

These adorable girls are full of cuteness. They love being held, investigating EVERYTHING, and play as much as they can. Sadie is leaning Leah trining and potty training. She’s doing good but still a puppy.
Stella is a sweet as can be. She might be older than Sadie but still acts like a pup herself.

with WILLOW!

Willow came to the shelter after her owner,l passed away. Unfortunately, no one in the family was wanting to add her to their home so she came into our care.

It took Willow a little bit before that tail started wagging. She was confused and sad. Now that she has connected with many volunteers and staff of the shelter, she gets beyond excited when she sees them.

Willow is eight years young and would be very content spending her days with her person either sitting next to them on the floor on her bed or even on the couch cuddling. She’s learning running around the play yard is kind of fun and it’s even helped her slim down just a little bit.

Willow can be good with other dogs, but may want to be an only child in her next home. This doesn’t mean that a meeting couldn’t potentially happen with the right fit. We’ve been working on her car riding skills and she honestly hates it. She stresses herself out in cars.

You can see Willow behind the desk most days. She likes to be with her people but also is an alerter😂 let’s you know when ANYONE is around.

Meet our furry friend, DIANA ROSS!

Diana came to us in rough shape. She was red and hot to the touch. It was clear she needed help and we knew just what to do. She was started with medicated baths, and oral antibiotics. Kind of like treating her from the inside and outside. She has a skin infection due to her untreated allergies.

Diana Ross isn’t fully ready for adoption and is still healing, but her progress has been amazing! And her personality has not changed. She’s been just as sweet and loving the whole time.
