December 7th

Dear Santa Paws,

My name is Xander, and I have been at Lakeland for 2 years, which is a really long time. My friends here are so nice to me, they tell me that I melt hearts with my big, beautiful eyes, bubbly personality, and determined spirit. I have a ton of energy and look forward to going for long walks outside and playing fetch. I don’t mean to gloat, but I think I currently hold the record for the highest jump at the shelter. After playtime, I like to snuggle up in my blankets. I really love people, but I prefer to keep them all to myself, so a home without other pets would be best. Santa, if I could choose only one gift for Christmas, it wouldn’t be jerky, stuffies, or a jar of peanut butter; it would be for my forever family to come pick me up and take me home. Please, Santa, make my wish come true.

Love,
Xander

December 6th

Dear Santa,

My name is Zeus and my new friends at the shelter tell me I get to write you a letter in hopes of finding my forever family. In my short life, only being 8 months old, I have had a couple of homes but nothing permanent and that is why I ended up at the shelter. Now that I am a healthy boy and coming out of my shell, I am a typical energetic puppy!
I love going for walks with my friends at the shelter and getting to play with different toys when they take me in the pen to play. They are also trying to teach me something called manners, they tell me my new family will love that I sit like a handsome boy. Which I do love trying to do since I get treats, those are my favorite!
So, Santa, that is my wish for a home with a family that loves me, going to take time and teach me things and of course play with me and feed me snacks. Oh and a comfy couch that I can snuggle up on with my new family, I hear that is great!
From the happy pup,
Zeus

Update on the emergency call from last night.

After life saving efforts were made by Dr Lexa from the Lake Geneva Animal Hospital and shelter staff, we are saddened to report the dog named Legend has passed away.

Thank you to the kind bystanders who stopped to helped, the gentleman who drove Legend to the shelter and Walworth County Sheriff's Office for reaching out and making sure he had a fighting chance.

Legend was chipped and there was an owner who has been notified.

December 5th

Dear Santa Claws,

Upon arrival at Lakeland shelter two years ago, I was not in the best shape, but with a lot of tender loving care from staff and volunteers, I was quickly on a path to recovery. I am glad to say now that I am a healthy, energetic, happy-go-lucky pup. I love playing fetch in the pen outside and munching on yummy treats. Peanut butter is my favorite. My friends at Lakeland say I have a smile that could light up the gloomiest of days, and that I would make a great addition to the right family. I have a lot of energy, so I would love a home with room to run and play. I’m working on walking nicely on a leash, but it’s hard for me to contain my enthusiasm at times. I sometimesforget just how big I am, so I would do best in a home without small kids or cats. If I could have one present for Christmas, it wouldn’t be a bone, frisbee, or a warm blanket to snuggle with; it would be for my forever family to come pick me up and take me home. Please, Santa, help make my Christmas wish come true.
Love, Bradley
