On February 27th, our clinic participated in National Spay Day, a day dedicated to decreasing the stray pet population. Our clinic focused on cats, completing 22 surgeries! By increasing awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering, we can reduce the number of stray animals fighting for survival. Thank you to our supporters and recurring donors who make our participation in these programs possible, making a huge impact on the lives of unhoused animals. 🎄🐾 Calling all animal lovers! 🐾🎄
As the festive season approaches, our shelter is reaching out to our incredible community for a special request. We are in need of compassionate fosters to open their hearts and homes to our lovable dogs over the December holidays.
Our dedicated staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly throughout the year to ensure our furry friends receive the love and care they deserve. With the holiday season upon us, we want to give them the chance to spend quality time with their families.
By fostering a dog from our shelter, you not only provide a warm and loving environment for these precious pups, but you also play a crucial role in helping us clear the shelter. This allows our hardworking team to take a well-deserved break and return recharged in the New Year.
Fostering during the holidays is a win-win situation! Our dogs get the chance to relax in a home environment, making them even more adoption-ready when they return. Plus, you get the joy of having a furry companion during this special time of the year.
If you have a little extra room in your heart and home, and you're ready for a festive adventure with a furry friend, please consider becoming a foster for our shelter. 🏡🐶
To sign up or learn more about our foster program, please reach out to us directly or visit our website. Let's make this holiday season a magical one for both our dogs and the incredible individuals who support our cause.

Do you have a passion for all things dogs? Come join our Dog Team at HSDC, we promise you lots of dog snuggles and bubbles are included! Rescue work is hard work, but all of our staff LOVE every minute of it. Even the hard parts when dogs come in terrified and have not had a great story so far. But….their story doesn’t end with us! We help them get fully vetted and ready to meet their new families. Part of their story is our wonderful Team of Caring Individuals that come in every day to give it their all. We are the stepping stone to that bright new future.
Yes, there’s lot of poop, and lots of cleaning, but there is just so much more behind the scenes!

TRUNK OR TREAT Buckeye State Bank Sun. Oct. 29 from 2-4
Treat's Update!
We are happy to announce an update for little Treat, the kitten from yesterday with the infected eyes. Dr. Buck and the team at Healthy Pets of Lewis Center, Inc. worked their magic. Treat survived surgery (which is a triumph with her being only 1 lbs) but both of her eyes were too badly damaged. Both of them had to be removed. Treat is currently in a foster home (fostering saves lives!) to work on her healing process. She still has a long road ahead of her and needs your support.
