Ive been critically contemplating the future of Trustworthy Pet Sitting given how brutual Summer as been, both with work load, heat, and my son's care. Julian will be done with school in 2030. (Hes in a special autism program where he can remain in school until he is 22yo.) Im going to increase my weekends off until he graduates and give myself a summer siesta (nap time) from noon to 2:30 to deal with the heat. (Heat and hot flashes are no fun at all, not to mention it's hard on dog's paws.) After he graduates, I'm going to remodel his room for cat boarding\fostering. And reduce my work zone to 15 min of travel for new clients. Beyond that it will depend on my pain levels and ability to drive. At some point I will have to give up leash walking dogs. I get SS in 2044, but I hope to continue to work with cats, just for the fun of it.

In case you haven't heard the exciting news, we now offer in hospital appointments on Fridays out of Salisbury Animal Hospital! This allows us to offer services, like x-rays, more readily and offers us more flexibility with our schedule to squeeze in more sick appointments to our week, which we think will greatly benefit our clients and patients. It also saves you the travel fee if you come to us.

It has been great establishing a relationship with another local vet hospital! For more information or to schedule your pet an in hospital appointment, please call us at 410-202-0009 or email us at [email protected] !

The sparkly balls on top here are not safe toys for cats! My foster Hedgie had to have emergency surgery to remove two from her stomach and intestines. I threw all of these away. I had just bought a package. Because of the barbs on a cat's tongue, these can more easily get ingested. Once swallowed, they absorb fluid and become large, too large to pass. She vomited up three-four of them, then became lethargic and stopped eating. Thank you to all at Sheets Pet Clinic who cared for her immediately and swiftly. Never had a problem with them before, but this experience makes me not want to take chances ever again. I feel horrible for giving them to her to play with and hope to spare someone else from having to learn the lesson I learned today.

Just one warning I read online while Hedgie was in surgery:

The avian species is one of the hardest to treat because you don't know they are sick until they are really sick. Birds are prey animals and usually don't show signs of being ill until they are really, really sick, In other words in the wild or in nature if they show weakness/sickness they often get eaten, So they will mask weakness until they simply cannot. A little veterinary advice if you have a bird and it is acting abnormal, not eating or staying at the bottom of cage get it to you veterinarian sooner rather than later.

Be sure to tune into the first episode of of Season 4 of Critter Fixers Country vets premiering Oct 8, 9pm on and watch me and tag team on a avian case, which happens to be the hardest case we have ever had in our veterinary careers πŸ™πŸΎ 🀞🏾🍿
