Safari Dog Training

Safari Dog Training Certified Dog Trainer 🐾 Fear Free Certified Professional 🦮 Servicing West Palm Beach & Broward

The concept of Safari Dog Training came to life when Certified Dog Trainer, Ashton, dreamed of an enrichment-focused, force-free, fear-free environment for our furry friends. Early in his career, he worked alongside many other trainers and had observed various styles of training. His happy, confident puppy, Blue, had an adverse outcome after being subject to training associated with corrective-act

ion methods. After Blue began to show aggression with dogs and people, Ashton knew he had to take action. With extensive research on positive-reinforcement training, Ashton focused his efforts using tasty treats and clickers to instill confidence in his dogs and his growing client base. He has realized much success with his efforts and has many heartwarming stories we will share. Our mission is to educate our animal loving community on the science-based methods of positive reinforcement by advocating for your pets. We use Force Free, Fear Free to alleviate anxiety and stress in your pets for boarding, grooming, and training. Our staff is trained, certified, and actively continue their education to create the best environment and care for your pet! Members of our daily team are certified in First Aid & CPR, dog body language, and safe group play. Our passion is to dedicate our lives to saving animals from kill shelters, giving rescue animals the enrichment and love they deserve. We have partnered with Blessed Paws Animal Rescue & A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue, by giving foster dogs their second chance and the training they need to be successful as they find their fur-ever homes! The core team at Safari wants to give our clients, whom we consider family, peace of mind that we love their animals as our own. We take time introducing new members of the Safari to ensure your dog is happy and comfortable with their new friends. Our Safari Guides take the time to individually know each dog and we imply positive reinforcement training, with adding that extra enrichment to your pup's everyday life here at our Safari Adventure!

It’s Ella’s turn, please share her post to help Ella find her forever family!! She’s been waiting 7 months!

Ella has been in rescue for 7 months with no interest! She was returned to rescue after having a home for 4 years because the family had a baby.

She is 5yrs old, 40lbs, American Bulldog mix. She has gone through a board and train, is potty trained, crate trained, knows obedience cues, walks well on leash, rides in the car great, and loves meeting new people! Her favorite activity is to play fetch! What more can you ask for?!

Ella needs slow introductions to new dogs. She currently is living with 6 other dogs of all sizes. She seems to love young dogs that like to play, otherwise she would be thrilled to be the center of your world!

Ella comes with free training sessions to ensure a smooth transition for her and her potential adopter. We will also dog sit Ella when you go on vacation! Please apply through A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue

Ella is being fostered in Lake Worth Beach, FL.

For your⬅️ exercise needs
To clear your⬅️ head
For you⬅️.
They stop for a second, they are pulled and yanked along.
and if I see one more dog limping beside a runner!
Your dog wants to keep stopping.
You can't see exactly what is happening or the gait change in your dog because your eyes are forward, but you feel the "hesitation" from behind.

Some runners may see it as "interfering" with the pace you have set, so you may just keep "yanking" them along when they are trying to tell you stop, the only way they can!
Some people have heard running is great for dogs.
Well, that depends entirely on the length of time, the pace, the breed and the individual dog themselves.
Not every breed is built for what we expect them to do.

This isn't anti joggers/runners as many walkers can do exactly the same.
You have 30 mins after work and you "must" do that 4 block circuit in 25 mins.

No stopping
No sniffing
No engagement

They stop for a second, they are tugged at, pulled and yanked along.

If your exercise interferes with what your dog NEEDS, it's well and truly time to separate the two.
For everyone's benefit.

How can you tell if it is an appeasement signal?
Is there suddenly something new around them or in their environment?
What is happening around them right now?
They can be such innocuous actions to us but can be a BIG sign that dogs can give.

Another clue❓

They are often shown in combination.
For example a dog may blink slowly and yawn.
They may scratch and turn away.
The lowering of the head can cause a posture change and curving of the body.

Individually they can be just everyday, ordinary behaviours....context is everything here.
Just because they show these doesn't necessarily mean something needs addressed, it just means we need to look a bit deeper at what that licking, nibbling or yawning may be trying to communicate.

(This isn't available yet but should be in the shop in the next week or so.)
