Maisey, here for 4 weeks of behavioral modification is ready to go home with her sisters! Our friends at Cimarron Dog Training had her two poodle sisters in their program at the same time, and all 3 are ready to hit the road with their mamma!

Nothing like a true, heartfelt testimony from a client! Lou was here for 5 weeks for behavioral modification. She is sweet, but had some underlying anxiety and impulsive behaviors that made her into something her owners needed help with. I also want to mention that these result will ONLY ever stay, if the client follows through with the work and consistency at home!

Maisey (aka Rooroo) has opened up so much!
She is here for behavioral modification and obedience. She was known for incessant barking, hiding, and biting whoever tried to touch her.
She was also reactive towards other dogs and people, not to mention any slick floor would completely paralyze her.
Building this foundation of trust, fairness and respect, she will be safe and home next week!

Meet “Stevie”!
He is a mini bernedoodle from AlpineBernedoodles.com here for just a few weeks to get him started on the following:

- Crate training
- Potty Training
- Spacial awareness
- Socialization
- Meal time manners
- Leash etiquette

These are all the basics of our “Puppy Foundation” program. This gives the puppy a baseline of obedience and manners to carry throughout their entire life.

I’d like to share an email I received from my vet. This is absolutely ABSURD that this is even being considered!

You may have questions about Colorado’s Proposition 129. We would like to share BCVC's position with you, our valued clients.

We strongly oppose Colorado’s Proposition 129. Our position on this aligns with national and local veterinary organizations, including:
American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA)
American Animal Hospital Association
Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians
Many, many more…
Why are we opposed to Proposition 129?
Proposition 129 aims to establish a new role called a Veterinary Professional Associate (VPA). The measure poses serious risks to animal safety, public health, and the veterinary profession. Here are the primary concerns:

1. Inadequate Training and Certification:
VPAs would be allowed to diagnose, recommend treatments, and even perform surgeries after completing a mostly online master’s program with minimal hands-on training. No national accreditation or standardized exam exists for this program, leaving major gaps in accountability and public protection.

2. Compromised Animal Health and Safety:
Animals needing specialized care or emergency intervention might suffer due to the limited knowledge and practical experience of VPAs. Even routine procedures can pose life-threatening risks if performed by someone without comprehensive veterinary training.

3. Increased Costs:
Insufficient training could lead to mistakes in diagnosis, additional testing, and misdirected treatment plans, increasing costs for animal owners, while causing additional suffering for your pets.

4. Disruption to the Veterinary Workforce:
The role of VPAs overlaps with that of veterinary technicians and could aggravate existing technician shortages by diverting resources. Furthermore, this measure introduces unnecessary complications, given that leveraging well-trained veterinary technicians offers a better path forward for advancing veterinary medicine as a whole.

We encourage you to visit the following issues campaign to learn more at keepourpetssafe.com.

Thank you for your support and for standing with us in opposition to this measure. Please vote NO on Colorado Proposition 129.

Thanks,
Black Canyon Veterinary Clinic

Veterinarians in Colorado are opposed to Proposition 129 and they are speaking out about it. 🍁 Snoopy is going to Canada! 🍁
He joined our puppy foundation program without a home, because we knew he was going to be something special. We have only had him for a couple of weeks, but the time spent with him has been so fulfilling. He is smart, happy, eager to please, and so good with the kids and other pups here.
We will be missing him a little extra! 💚💚💚

•Pet your dog, all the time
•Talk to your dog, all the time
•Allow your dog to follow you, all the time
•Allow your dog to be on your lap or laying on your feet, all the time
•Pet, soothe, comfort your dog when it whines or barks for attention...or is simply anxious
•Allow your dog to demand affection/interactions
•Be emotionally dependent on your dog to the point that unhealthy dependency and interactions are no longer noticed
•Allow your dog to do whatever it wants, whenever it wants—aka, provide no structure, rules, or accountability
•Foster an environment of chaos, stress, and anxiety
•Refuse to train and pattern calmness
•Refuse to crate train your dog
•Refuse to correct your dog when inappropriate behavior occurs
•Refuse to train your dog how to be independent/alone by using a “Place” command, “Downstay, and/or “away” time in the crate
•Let your dog out of the crate when it whines or barks
•Avoid training or anything that makes your dog temporarily uncomfortable or unhappy—in other words, cater to your dog’s every desire/need, designing your life around your dog, rather than having your dog fit into yours
•And many, many more...

Basically, baby, soothe, allow, enable, disable, lean on, omit teaching necessary life skills, prioritize what feels good for you rather than what does good for your dog, and through this master plan of leadership-free chaos, and systematic cultivation of creating a toxic dependency between dog and human...you’ll ensure that when you leave, your dog will be a true emotional mess, because you haven’t prepared them to be calm, obedient, strong, resilient, robust, independent, and alone.
