With his keen sense and special training, Hachi has provided vital support by issuing seizure warnings and is currently honing his skills for blood sugar detection. 🐾❤️

❄️ We have had some really cold weather here in Colorado these last few days! So, it reminded us to share a few tips to protect your pup’s paws when it's cold.

Snow, ice, and road salt can be harsh on those sensitive pads. Here are a few simple tips to keep them safe:
🧴 Moisturize: Use a paw balm to prevent cracking and dryness.
💦 Rinse & Dry: Wash paws after walks to remove salt and ice.
✂ Trim Fur: Keep fur between paw pads short to avoid ice buildup.
🐾 Boot Up: Consider dog booties for extra protection on icy days.

You may see our sweet Debbie sporting a new splint! Sadly, Mom (Jubi) jumped and when she landed, she accidentally landed on Debbie breaking her tibia.

We, of course, take our puppy care very seriously and Debbie was given the best vet care possible! She is in a splint and on the mend and we are so happy to see her healing already. This girl is seriously adorable! She is the smallest in the litter, but she has the biggest heart 🩶

🐾 At PTK Ranch, we believe that a smooth transition for our puppies is key to their development and happiness. One of the essential things we do here is to ensure that each puppy is gradually introduced to both soft and hard food before they head to their forever homes. 🏠

Starting with soft food helps them ease into the weaning process, making it a more comfortable experience. As they grow, we slowly incorporate hard food, allowing their tiny teeth to strengthen while still enjoying a nutritious diet. This gradual transition means fewer changes for the puppy when they arrive in their new environment, reducing stress and making the adjustment much easier. 🥰
