Rescue isn’t all sunshine, wagging tails, and happy homes.
It’s illness. It’s disease. It’s starvation.
It’s walking into a room and knowing, deep down, that sometimes love and care just aren’t enough to undo what’s been done.

People often tell us, “I don’t know how you do it.”
The truth is… some days, I don’t know either.
It doesn’t get easier.
In fact, it gets harder. Every loss stays with you. Every little life you couldn’t save carves another piece out of your heart.

Yesterday, we took in a tiny soul we called Nugget.
He was so weak, so emaciated — a 1/9 BCS.
We did everything we could. Fluids, food, meds, warmth, love, and a lot of pleading. Every ounce of energy I had went into trying to save him.
But it was too late. Just one day too late.

If only he had been brought in sooner… maybe his story could have ended differently.
I keep replaying it in my head — wondering what more I could’ve done, wishing time had been on our side.

💔 I’m so sorry, Baby Nugget. You were loved. You mattered.

Please, friends — don’t wait to get help.
If you see an animal suffering, reach out. Bring them in. Call someone.
A single day, a single hour, can mean the difference between life and death.

You might think, “It’s not my place,” or “Someone else will help.”
But that someone else might be too late.
Be their voice. Be their chance. Be the change.
