Some goodbyes are harder than others! This is a tough one for me. We have stood a range of stallions over the years and handled more mares and foals than I can count but these last few that have called Born Running their home have been the nearest and dearest to my heart. All of our stallions that we have stood here at Born Running Ranch over the last few years have been delivered to their new homes for 2022 breeding season. We are officially closing our doors to the commercial side of the breeding business. I would like to thank Catherine Bedwell Simmons and Bobby Craig Simmons for giving us the opportunity to stand Corona Surfer and Bodacious Dash over the last few breeding seasons. I would also like to thank Fran Cavenaugh and Don Cavenaugh for the opportunity to stand Good Candy P for his Freshman Season. I am excited to watch their careers take off and all the babies that we have had a part in breeding do well on the racetrack. Thank you all for entrusting your stallions and mares to our care over the years. We have always strived to provide excellence in care and reproduction. When I left Colorado 18 years ago and the comforts of a state government job at CSU to pursue my dream of owning an equine breeding farm , I never imagined how far the dream would go. With not a penny to my name, a few years of experience and training under my belt , a degree and whole heap of praying somehow the Lord brought my dreams to fruition. I have had a ton of fun, worked harder than I ever could have imagined possible, cried many tears, cleaned up a lot of blood and p**p, laughed a lot , enjoyed success on the farm and on the racetrack, and made and kept a lot of great friends. I am so grateful to my team over the last few years including Jose Martinez. I sincerely could not have done it without you. Thank you for all the long days and nights and early mornings, endless mare sh****ng and stall cleaning and high maintenance baby care. I could have never accomplished all of this without the love and support of my family especially my mom and dad. From helping with the building of the farm and business to feeding the crew and watching the kids and endless emotional support I could never repay them for all the help. Thank you to the love of my life and best friend, Adam. He works tirelessly on this farm to make it all happen. He works full time and then comes home and works some more, helps pull foals, haul horses to the clinic, hold mares, irrigate, tractor work, construction, cook, and support system. He has logged just as many hours as the rest of us and for sure was unaware of what he signed up for when he married me. We had a good run and hung with the best of them and are better for it. We have raised and bred some exceptional foals and closed out our 2021 breeding season with near perfect conception rates.
Hopefully the dream will continue for many more years with our mares and foals on and off the track. What an adventure we have had. I feel truly blessed to have had this kind of opportunity and am in awe of the power of Jesus as he has led us down an amazing path. Though thoroughly exhausted, I would do it all over again. We are excited for the next chapter , whatever that may be!
