Does anybody out there know this woman? Supposedly she works in Animal Rescue. She been sending me nasty communication about a dog that she alleges I asked her to pull from county on my behalf.

When I politely let her know that she must be confused as I no longer live in AZ she sent me multiple nasty messages. I called MC HUMANE SOCIETY and they confirmed it was a DIFFERENT rescue that committed to pulling the dog

I reached back out to her to give her the info and she continued to be OBNOXIOUS

Look I totally get that working in animal rescue is exhausting and it is overwhelming and it is heartbreaking That is why it is so important that our time and energy to rescue  really support care for each other.

Animal rescue, including veterinarians fosters and volunteers extremely high rates of depression and even su***de

So if anyone knows this woman, please reach out to her and make sure that she’s OK and if she please let her know it’s not OK even if she’s having the worst day ever take it out on the rest of us that are only trying to care for the animals 

On the other hand, if this is just her normal personality she shouldn’t be in rescued because she’s going to drive good people away with her behavior

I spent the entire day outside installing over 70 solar lights all around the perimeter of about an acre and a half of our property. My back is killing me and I am absolutely exhausted but now that it’s dark and I can come out and actually enjoy all the lights around the fencing. I’m thrilled with how it looks. if I weren’t so tired, I’d unlock the gate and drive up to the top of the road and turn around and drive down so I can look at it but I’ll do that tomorrow night. I’m too tired right now.. but it’s a good kind of tired; Greg is laughing, saying that I need to start my own landscaping business and call it Lydia’s landscaping!!!

This week is going to be such a hard week. As many of you know I have been working in animal rescue as a foster and as a rescue for over 15 years now. It has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done in my entire entire life. It has also been one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever done in my entire life.

I just got off the phone with the vet and made an appointment for later this week to euthanize three of our dogs here at home. So indulge me I’d like to tell you a little bit about them.

The first one is cheddar cheese, German shepherd mix that I rescued 13 years ago. She was about a year old then and was being attacked by a bunch of coyotes. I chased off the coyotes and was trying to get her into my car. She was terrified. I happen to have some groceries in the car, including some cheddar cheese. I tried to blackmail her to get her in the car with the cheese and she ended up eating all the cheese and still not getting in the car. I happen to be friendly with the mayor of Buckeye at the time and I gave him a call and he called the police department and sent over a couple officers to help me get her into the car. She is one of the sweetest and smartest dogs I’ve ever had. I’m going to miss her terribly.

We also have Tramp who is now about 15 years old. He and his brother gypsy were dumped near our house and they ran into one of the drainage pipes that help to irrigate the farm fields next to us. We called them the pipe babies. Tramp has cancer and he’s been on medication for a while, but the tumors have started to grow again and I’m worried that he’s in pain. Tramp is a dog that loved to swim in the pool! He would just glide around the pool and push the play ball from one end of the pool to the other, wagging his tail while he was swimming!

And finally, we have Angel. Angel is about 16 We’ve had her for about six or seven years now. Got a call one day from a young man who had been evicted from his apartment and he didn’t want to take his dog to the pound. One of his friends shared one of my Facebook posts with him, and so he reached out to me to see if I would temporarily take his dog while he found a new place to live. We lived in West Buckeye at the time and he lived in Apache Junction, which is literally 100 miles one way. Greg drove over to get the dog and we brought Angel home for the first several months we emailed and texted back-and-forth and I let him know how Angel was doing taking pictures for him and then all of a sudden one day he just disappeared. I tried for months to reach him and was unable to, I sent letters to his last known address they would be forwarded and I kept messaging him on Facebook and on the phone number that I had for him with no communication I tried again before we moved to New Mexico, and I still couldn’t reach him. Angel had a hard time adjusting it first she missed him terribly. he gave us a camouflage fishing hat off of his head the day that we took her from him and she still to this day has that hat and sleeps with it .
She is one of the sweetest dogs in the whole world, but her body is just giving out on her. She has a very hard time walking and she whimpers. She’s been taking arthritis medication for a while and that did help but I just think she’s developed a tolerance for it and she just doesn’t even wanna eat anymore so she’s telling me it’s time to go. The young man told us that she was seven years old when we took him, but I think she was older than that.
In any event, it’s the hardest part of working an animal rescue but on the other hand, I feel happy that we’ve been able to give them a really good life and a long life for dogs. It’s just gonna be a rough week.

I want to thank everyone who has supported our rescue over the years. There is so many of you that have collected blankets and towels for us so many of you who have ordered dog food and cat food and supplies from Amazon and shipped them our way and so many of you who have sent us cash donations: we are so very grateful you allow us to be able to do what we do and you make it just a little easier when we have weeks like this!

It is WICKED WINDY here in Deming, New Mexico again today!!!

One of the coolest things about this house and property is this huge observation deck that we have that you can sit and overlook literally the entire county almost. Unfortunately, I need some work done which we’re getting done this week because railings are loose and some of the steps are a little bit loose as well so we’re going to have everything reinforced!

In the meantime, my grandfather Ackley always used to say he could fix anything with duct tape so I hope he’s looking down on me laughing because I have temporarily fixed the deck railing with duct tape !!!!

I was down on the floor trying to get my flip-flop out from underneath the bed and I came out and I looked up and this is what I saw!

My old lady Coco keep an eye on me the whole time !

Her in about six or seven years ago, I’d have to check the exact date in her veterinarian file for girl who is pregnant and had had her since she was a puppy. She told me that she was about 10 at the time but her boyfriend didn’t want her to have a dog if she had a baby. She reached out to me on Facebook and showed up at my door and this little suitcase or should I say big suitcase full of dog clothes, shoes jewelry leashes, collars, toys, etc. this girl must’ve spent literally every penny she had spoiling this dog rotten.

I was worried about how the dog would adjust coming into the craziness of our house and all the other dogs and my intent at that time was to put her up for adoption once I had her checked out by our vet

She wouldn’t eat. She just laid around like a zombie. I wound up syringing food and water into her mouth because she literally was just going to commit su***de. She was so depressed.

Finally, after about a week she started to come around. She started eating on her own being interested in her toys again, and she bonded with me.

After all that there was no way I was going to put her through another change at her age

So here she is somewheres around 17 years old give or take and she runs this house !!!

I say all the time that Mamacita directed the universe universe to send her to me because this girl reached out to me within days after Mamacita died. Mamacita was my other little Chihuahua who had the personality larger than life! (for those of you that knew my Mamacita, you definitely know that she’s up there directing the universe right now.)

She has been a huge comfort since Kizmet and Phantom passed!

We’ve been asked to take on a couple of senior dogs for a woman who’s going to be going into assisted-living so I’ll be picking them up next week! She very much wanted to keep them together and so we’re going to do that for her!
