We are still in major need of fosters for this up coming cold weather!
We have 74 dogs total at the shelter and only 26 indoor kennels.
We do not have any small dogs all of are dogs are 30lbs and up. We also do not have any puppies or full blooded dogs.
All of our dogs are strays found within our jursdiction most of them are pit,lab,or shepherd mixes.
Most of are dogs require special homes considering most cannot go to a home with cats or other dogs.
If you are interested in fostering please message us with
-what kind of home you live in(house,apartment, townhome, trailer)
-If you have other pets? If so what kind and how many.
-Do you have children? If so how old?
-Do you have a fence? (Not required for all dogs only a select few)

Introducing Archie a 56 pound shepherd mix. Archie is a wild boy who does need a bit of training when it comes to his mouthing and jumping we have learned that he listens better to men than he does women. Archie will require a fenced in yard since he is a very hyper active boy. Archie will require a meet and greet with other dogs but absolutely CANNOT go to a home with CATS!! Archie is UTD on all annual vaccines, heart-worm negative, and neutered.

Meet Henna a gorgeous hyper pit mix who weighs 47 pounds. Henna’s approximate DOB is January of 2023. Henna is a super playful girl who loves toys and soaking in everyone’s attention. Henna can be a bit shy towards men at first but once she gets to know them she can be just as loving. Henna is kennel and potty trained. She gets along well with other dogs but a meet and greet will be required she CANNOT GO to a home WITH CATS! Henna is UTD on all annual vaccinations spayed and Heart-worm negative.

Meet Nova a super sweet pit mix whose approximate DOB is July of 2019. Nova is a very social girl who loves everyone she meets. Nova is selective with other dogs so a meet and greet will be required. We are not sure how she does with cats but we can test her if needed. Nova does have a cataract in one of her eyes but it certainly doesn’t cause her any trouble getting around. Nova is heart-worm positive, UTD on all annual vaccines, and spayed.

Job Title: Animal Control Helper I
Department: Animal Control
Reports to: Animal Control Officer/Manager
FLSA Statue: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
As an Animal Control Helper, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the shelter. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and cleanliness of the facility and the well-being of the animals in our care.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Feeding, watering, and providing basic care for the animals in our facility.
• Walking and exercising dogs as per their needs and schedules.
• Monitoring the behavior and health of animals, reporting any issues to management.
• Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, play areas, litter boxes, and common spaces to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
• Assisting with grooming and bathing when necessary.
• Engaging with the public on animal intake, adoptions, and answering questions.
• Maintaining detailed records of animal care and medications.
• Assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with dogs and cats is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle frequent contact with the public.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Passion for and knowledge of animal care and welfare.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including lifting, cleaning, and working outdoors.
• Basic computer literacy to enter health information in a database.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency.

Meet Karen a super sweet heeler mix whose approximate DOB is October of 2023. Karen is a fun and loving girl who weighs 47lbs she absolutely adores children she is selective with other dogs. We are unsure at this time how she does with cats but we can test if needed. Karen prefers a home with kids to keep her company she is potty trained, Abbs’s kennel trained. Karen is UTD on all annual vaccinations and heart-worm negative.

Meet Linus a super sweet mix breed whose approximate DOB is July of 2023. Linus is a big goofy boy who weighs 60lbs. Linus was adopted as a puppy but unfortunately was brought back a few months ago no fault of his own. Linus gets along well with other dogs and kids just absolutely NO CATS. Linus is house trained and knows the command sit. Linus is a good boy who deserves to find his forever home. Linus is UTD on all annual vaccinations, heart-worm negative, and neutered.

Sweet Wally is looking for his forever home; his approximate DOB is January 2015. Wally is sweet pup who is potty trained and kennel trained. He gets along great with both cats and dogs. His current foster states that he is a very good boy and can be left unattended in the house without worrying about him making a mess. Wally loves taking over the bed and snoozing all day long. Wally is on the older side but in good health for his age now that we got his skin and fur back to normal. Wally also does great on the leash. Wally is Heart-worm Negative and up to date on all annual vaccinations.
