Adoption fee is $60, the adopted pet(s) will be current with age appropriate vaccinations and worming, will also have been given flea medicine and spayed/neutered before leaving the Shelter. We have over 200 cats and dogs that need forever homes. Please consider adding some love to your life and adopt a homeless pet from our animal shelter. We also have opportunities daily for you to foster or vol

unteer. We also handle animal control issues from within the City limits of Denham springs

FOTA is a nonprofit organization that pulls dogs from municipal animal shelters!!

On a recent sunny afternoon at Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge (FOTA), Charlotte happily cuddled with her latest foster dog, Clementine, a six-pound bundle of joy.

Meet sweet boy Luigi!! This sweet boy is in a foster home due to the heat. He is a 5 month old mixed breed. He gets a long with kids & other dogs as you can see in the pictures ❤️ If you are interested in possibly adopting please message us on Facebook for more information ☺️

We are still looking for fosters or even adopters for our dogs! We are over capacity with over 80 dogs and some of our dogs aren't doing well with the heat. Most of our dogs will require a meet and greet with other dogs. We will provide everything needed for fostering! We will also update descriptions of the dogs underneath the picture. Meet Dusty boy! Dusty's DOB is approximately November of 2022 and weighs about 70 pounds. This sweet boy loves to give hugs! Dusty does love to play but can also be the best cuddle bug too. He does get along with other dogs and even cats but a meet and greet will be required! He will also require a fenced in yard!! Dusty is UTD on all vaccines and is heartworm negative. If you are interested, we are open 7 days a week from 9-3:30.

Meet sweet girl Nala! Nala's approximately DOB is December of 2020 and weighs about 48 pounds. This sweet girl is in our building, and she is amazing! She loves to play and occasionally gets her zoomies, but she can also be the best cuddle buddy! She is house and kennel trained. Nala also gets along with both dogs and cats but a meet and greet will be required! She is UTD on all vaccines and is heartworm negative. If you are interested in this sweet girl, we are open 7 days a week from 9-3:30.

Meet Smiley! His DOB is approximately May of 2023 and is about 47 pounds. Smiley definitely loves the water hose! He is also very outgoing and playful. He will require meet and greet with other dogs! We had 3 totes from Amazon with so much stuff that came in today!!! We can’t say how much we appreciate everyone 😭 for the dogs & the cats ☺️

Some of our dogs love to play in their water bowls so here is an idea of what you can donate! We have been getting multiple donations today & I’m sure more is coming this week & we really appreciate everyone helping out. If you are also wanting to adopt from us we are open 7 days a week from 9-3:00! We will definitely help fit the right dog for your family 🫶🏼

As everyone knows majority of our shelter is outdoor & it’s starting to get hot & sooner or later hotter. We are getting all our fans out & we even have misters above the dog’s cages!! As of right now we are over capacity with over 80 dogs. If you are wanting to donate some more misters we will have pictures underneath the comments of what we are using & we did get them from Amazon. We are welcome to any pools for the dogs during this hot summer too! We thank you in advance!!

DENHAM SPRINGS ANIMAL SHELTER

Denham Springs Animal Shelter is the only no-kill municipal shelter in Louisiana. We have a no-kill policy on healthy adoptable cats and dogs. We also serve as The City of Denham Springs animal control for stray cats and dogs within the city limits of Denham Springs. Our goal is to reunite lost pets to their families. The cats and dogs that cannot be reunited with their families, are spayed or neutered, given age appropriate vaccines and placed up for adoption. All of our cats are tested for FIV and Feline leukemia upon intake. We try out best to heartworm test our dogs before adoption and are all given monthly heartworm prevention. Our adoption fee is $60 check or cash only. We are open 7 days a week from 9-4 for adoptions, and have adoption events every Saturday and Sunday from 11-3 at Petco in Denham Springs. We also house a few of our cats at time in the Catio in Petco in Denham Springs that are available for adoption.
