Forever A Friend of Jack Friday 🐾🩷

 “I had been fostering with a Friend of Jack for about two years before I came across Roux. I had always wanted a second dog, but my fiance was hesitant and when I saw Roux come up on the page, she looked exactly like our current dog and I knew she needed to be ours!

Our older dog, having grown up in a shelter, was incredibly nervous and shy around new people. When we went to meet Roux, we brought him along and he immediately felt comfortable around Roux, even greeting her foster parents. That was the moment we knew we had to adopt her.

Roux has been the easiest puppy ever! She has the sweetest and silliest personality and loves to cuddle all the time. She is a huge outdoors fan and recently learned to swim this summer by diving head-first into a river while camping (mom was proud, but dad was not as thrilled with the muddy result). She is absolutely obsessed with her older brother and if she isn’t following him around the house then she is likely taking a nap on top of him. Roux is the perfect addition to our family and we couldn’t love her more!

She still spends time with her foster parents and spends weekends with them when we go out of town. They are her fun aunt and uncle who take her on adventures and shower her with treats and toys!”

URGENT: immediate placement needed for this 7 month old purebred Doberman, Zeus, who is being surrendered to us any moment. Poor guy has been kept in a crate and has not been given the attention he so desperately deserves.

“Winnie acquired us in February of 2021 (after having a litter with a foster in Colorado). Since then, our Pooh Dog has acclimated to our family, and Colorado, very well. She loves all of us! When our daughter got married, she was a Flower Pup (along with her Aussie brother). Winnie has her own Instagram page with all of her adventures on it (paddleboarding, hiking, lounging, playing in water and snow, etc). We can’t imagine our lives without her now”

URGENT: looking for either a short term or long term foster for Mr. Zeus! He is dog and people friendly and is a giant goober. He is working through separation anxiety so will need to be crated when left alone! Otherwise he is ridiculously sweet and loves to cuddle. Needs a house with a yard!

Avy the Avalanche🗻 (FKA Murphy Lee)

“About a month after losing my soul-dog of almost 14 years, a good friend of mine posted her newest foster pup on Instagram, who was the cutest, floofiest thing I had ever seen. It was love at first sight, and I knew immediately that that little floof ball was meant for me. Boy was I right, because it’s been two years of nonstop adventures with this dog. We run, bike, hike, camp, paddleboard, and road trip everywhere together; along with my other dog, who absolutely adores his best friend. Avy brings me so much joy the way she sprints through life, terrorizing us all with her boundless energy and happiness. I’ve never had a dog make me laugh as much as she does. I can’t even tell you how much I love her and how perfect she is for me. I am so thankful for for giving Avy and dogs like her a chance to find their furever homes.

And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention a fun plot twist to this happy story. From the moment saw Avy, she had a gut feeling that she was somehow related to her dog Nelson, who rescued about a year prior from the same KS shelter. Literally as Avy’s mom was picking her up to take her home, the email with Avy’s DNA results came through… and as luck would have it, she was right! Turns out, Avy and Nelson are cousins… Which makes total sense, considering they seem to have all the same mannerisms and goofy personalities. They got together for their first reunion this summer and can’t wait for many more to come!”

Home for the Pawlidays! 🎄

The holiday season brings lots of love—and a little extra need for foster homes as families travel. We’re hoping to find some cozy spots for these sweet babies! Each one is on Santa’s Nice List and ready to spread some festive cheer!

Forever A Friend of Jack Friday 🐾🩷

“We rescued Charlotte a year and a half ago. Originally she was our foster. When we got her she had come from the massive puppy mill rescue operation where we believe she had been kept in a crate most of her life.

When we got her she didn’t know how to be a dog. Over time we got her out of her shell and showed her how fun life could be! She learned how to conquer the stairs, walk on leash, how delicious treats are and to really trust people again!

With love, a lot of patience, and the help of her dog brothers (Boone and Eddy) she discovered how to be a dog! We knew she would be staying with us forever! Now she goes paddle boarding, hikes mountains with us, and of course loves her Aussie brothers! Not only has she been the sweetest addition to our family but she has been an amazing teacher for the 7 other puppies we have fostered through AFOJ!

We are so thankful to AFOJ for connecting us with our sweet Char girl! We love her so much!!”

December 3rd is , a global movement that encourages people to give back to their community and support causes they care about.

We are aiming to raise $4,000 that will directly support the lives of unwanted puppies and dogs saved from all different circumstances.

A Friend of Jack was founded in 2020 by Allie, inspired by her 14th foster, Jack. Jack was found as a stray riddled with mange, ticks and fleas, and left for dead in a ditch in Kansas. Because of a local rescue in Colorado, he was given a second chance at life. And from there, Allie was inspired to start AFOJ.

We owe everything to Jack’s spirit for keeping this rescue alive and running. Over 2,300 unwanted dogs have been rescued since its beginning. While that is so small accomplishment, there are countless more lives who still need us everyday. Donations will be going directly to rescue transports, medical needs, food, supplies, and trainers amongst so many other necessities.

No donation is too small! We are grateful for any support you are able to give. We could not do this without all of you!

“Fig is a 4 year old cattle dog/border collie mix - I’m convinced she’s also part coyote (especially during nail trims haha). I adopted her on a whim right after I moved to Winter Park, CO during the pandemic and she has been my best travel partner and outdoor activity gal since.

Fig was an amazing foster big sis to four AFOJ pups (three were adopted in Winter Park!), and also helps me dog sit all over town! She’s a bit unsure of new people and animals when she first meets them, but once you’re in her pack, she’ll love you forever! Fig also has an instagram page: .. follow to see her adventures!”

💝Bowie

👋🏻Meet Bowie! He is the sweetest little man and has yet to meet a stranger. Bowie loves to say good morning with a cute little howl. He is your classic energetic pup but after he gets his zoomies out he loves to snuggle up with on the couch.

🏠He does incredibly well in his crate and typically sleeps throughout the night. His first night with his foster he learned how to sit and has been doing amazing with his potty training.

Alfredo! 🧀

Meet Alfredo (aka Alfie), a perfect husky mix puppy who’s ready to find his forever family! Alfie is a gentle soul with a curious spirit. While he can be a little shy and nervous at first, he warms up quickly, especially if there’s another dog around!

Alfie is incredibly smart, with an impressive knack for picking up on new behaviors. In his first few days with us, he has already learned to sit, come, and walk on a leash by copying his foster sibling, and he’s never had an accident in the house! Plus, he’s a great sleeper in his puppy pen, so you can count on peaceful nights. Like many husky mixes, he enjoys a little chat here and there but settles down quickly with a cuddle or chew toy.

His favorite things in life include chew toys, cozy naps, and, of course, lots of cuddles. Alfie would thrive in a home with another dog or a family who’s ready for his sweet, curious, and gentle personality.

🏝️Bea from the Bahamas 🏝️

👋🏻 Sweet Bea was found as a stray in the Bahamas and rescued by Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Florida. She came to us in September and has been looking for her forever family since!

🏠Bea is 8 months old, potty trained, kennel trained and overall a sweet mannered baby girl. She just underwent hip dysplasia surgery a month ago and is doing so well!

☀️She loves being outside and her quirky puppy side is starting to come out! She loves the safety of her crate, but is very curious to learn about her new surroundings. She would do best in a home with a yard and another confident pup to show her what life is all about!

Huge thank you to her foster mama Cara for all of the time and energy she has spent in caring for Bea! We are so thankful for you!

Happy Thanksgiving, to our AFOJ family. We are so thankful for you. The true impact of our mission is going on a walk and running into a once abandoned dog found living by a river, but now is thriving in a loving home and having endless doggy play dates. We all made that happen. The true impact of our mission is answering phone calls all hours of the night to ensure a neglected or surrendered dog has a safe home to cuddle up in. We all did that. The true impact of our mission is the many hours spent coordinating and transporting dogs from horrible conditions to our foster parent’s arms for warm hugs and security. We all did that. Almost 2,500 lives saved. We did that. Dog rescue is full of ups and downs, dry eyes and tearful eyes, but it always filled with gratitude. As a nonprofit, we rely heavily on the continued support of our community to not only function, but to exist. You all are a huge reason we are able to wake up each day and commit our time to saving and placing unwanted dogs into the homes of their dreams. This Giving Tuesday, we will be launching a fundraiser so we can place as many dogs into their forever homes this holiday season. If you are able to, any donation helps 🖤🐾 Thank you all — AFOJ

The thing about a foster based rescue, is that we truly can’t do this without you. Because so many people stepped in, we were able to save 47 lives and bring them here to Colorado to find their forever homes! “Thank you” is never enough but we’re here to say it a million times over. Spread the word. Share the stories. Send posts. Pet our dogs at breweries. Let’s get these angels into their forever homes! We are still very much in need of fosters, as well! A lot of these nuggets are in temporary foster homes looking for another placement in the very near future.
