Airplane partner and fellow rescuer, Kevin Shuler arranged a South Texas dog rescue out of San Antonio Sunday. The Denver end was arranged by Melissa Mc Calister of Red Fern Animal Rescue. We had a few bigs and many littles plus two very chill Tabby cats for a total of 16 critters. It was a very successful adventure and the weather cooperated nicely.

This Saturday’s rescue totaled 20 critters. 13 puppies, 6 adult dogs and one beautiful cat, Lilly. Peter Griffith at 95 pounds was our biggest and rode on the floor and was very chill and friendly. Getting him in and out required two people. Other notables were two Heelers going to New Hope Cattle Dog Rescue and Dolly and her five 3 week old pups. Dolly was very fearful but did well on the flight. She had eight pups but three died. We were a bit worried about the rest, especially the runt and improvised a partially sealed crate as an oxygen tent. They did well and are happily feeding with their mother. There were two other litters of four puppies. 4 went to EAPL and 4 went to Mountain Pet Rescue.

A big shout out to Braeden Giltinan who did a marvelous job flying in very challenging conditions. He did four instrument approaches at three airports including a missed approach (unable to see runway from the minimum altitude) at our Home airport, Front Range. Contrary to the FAA forecast which called for 2,000 ft. Plus ceilings all day, we returned from Tulsa to find the entire Front Range socked in with ceilings at 200 feet and visibility of less than a mile meaning they were at the exact minimum limit. On top of that, during our short trip from Centennial, we picked up a good load of ice which required a higher approach speed. It was the most nitty gritty instrument flying either of us has done in the TBM in one day.

The puppies are here!!! We just met a flight filled with rescue dogs-four of whom are now EAPL fosters!!! More pics and video coming, but we wanted to give a huge shout out to David and his crew from to the Rescue for flying all these babies to Colorado. David is just an incredible guy. Thank you for all you do! (This is David with one of our super-fosters and one of our four puppies !) 🐾

Please give your rescue friends a lift up this holiday season.

Many are running ragged trying to juggle their regular lives, plus their rescue lives.

There is no OFF switch to rescue. The dogs are always on their minds....even as they sleep.

Take care of one another.

Love and ✌️ peace.

Here are pix of our first rescue in the TBM in over a month. Kevin and I flew to Oklahoma City to pick up a good load of dogs and then made a stop in Woodward, OK to pick up a puppy for Pawsitive Restorations of Denver. My favorite dog was named Vanilla and she was picked up by a very nice couple who adopted her from online pictures. Her one blue and one brown eye were irresistible! I was delighted to find a dog named Malcolm on our dog-I-fest so I had to meet him. He’s the black lab in the car with me.

We finally picked up the TBM from its annual inspection which included several major components overhauled and an enhancement of instrument panel and navigation system. It is now back in service ready for new dog rescues.

Well, we are finally picking up our overhauled, revamped airplane from Stellar Avion in Camarillo, CA and will be back in the rescue business. During our down time we enlisted volunteers with their own smaller airplanes to help. We had limited success but here’s one of our happy transports. Pilot Reggie flew an all day trip in his Cessna 182 from Denver to Tulsa to rescue six adorable chunky Pyrenees mix pups all with Christmas names, Garland, Tinsel, Eggnog, Nutmeg, Holly and Angel. All adorable. Reggie fell in love with Garland and will adopt. (One of the dangers of flying dog rescues!).

ANASTASIA BIG ADVENTURE PART 3

I wasn’t trying to build suspense. Just got busy. Anyhow, on her last day in Denver, we picked her up in the morning for the flight to Palmdale. We decided not to crate her since she’s sooooo chill! She curled right up in her seat and slept most of the way. We made a stop in Page, AZ for a walk break and to fuel up with cheap jet fuel. It was super windy in Palmdale and Kevin made a very nice crosswind landing. It didn’t wake up Anastasia. Her new Mom, Diana was there to meet us. Anastasia is now living a great life with her big sister Ginger and two cats. She gets along with everybody! There’s a cute picture of her sitting in front of the dog door waiting for it to open. I’m sure she caught on pretty fast.
