Improving the ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 oils in horse feed supports overall health and performance of horses, Omega-3 and omega-6 are essential fatty acids but not produced by the body. They only come from feeds. Outside of fresh pasture grass, most feeds have an imbalance -- too much omega-6, too little omega-3.
This imbalance influences a number of health issues in horses and other animals.

Enos Yoder with Hidden "Y" Ranch in Westcliffe, CO, has had great success feeding Sweet Pro’s EquiPride to his eight Percheron show horses that he takes all over the country. "Muji colicked and scared me to death on Saturday evening. I knew the weather was going to be changing; but, wow, did the barometric pressure plummet! Muji was waiting in his stall for his grain and started to eat when I poured it in his pan. I then saw him walk out into his run – but then he pooped, so I thought no big deal. But then he went back inside and dropped his head into his feed. I ran and grabbed an EquiPride Gold out of the tack room (but forgot the Banamine), and Muji was back in his run with his head down. His head was so low that I could hardly halter him, and I had to tie his head high enough on the fence so I could administer the Gold. He didn’t even want to open his jaw enough for me to get the tip of the tube on his tongue. I finally worked it in and decided to get him into the round pen before he decided to go down completely. He stumbled into the round pen and paced a bit before lying down. I figured I couldn’t even try any Banamine at that point, so I just watched him for a bit hoping the Gold would kick in. I then watched Muji, and he suddenly went so still that I thought he’d died! I started to reach for my phone and head towards the round pen when, all of a sudden, he lifted his head and got up! Whew! I left him in the round pen for another 30 minutes to try and gauge how he was doing, but I could tell he was wanting out. I opened up one of the fence panels into the paddock, and that silly boy was energized with p**s and vinegar! He bucked, farted, and bolted out past me at a dead run across the paddock before getting to the far hay feeder stopping face down to eat! I didn’t try to give him the rest of his dinner that he’d initially refused that evening, but he had hay all night and gladly ate his breakfast on Sunday morning."
