Sunny and Luna came for a visit this weekend when they liberated an ENTIRE bag of CBD dog treats and split the loot between them. Stomach upset and lethargy followed shortly thereafter and their mom rushed them into RiNoVet. From the mischievous grins on their faces- and no doubt feeling the effects of CBD- they seem to be thinking... "yeah, we'd do it again."

Never delay in getting care for your pet's eye problems! Waffles came to us over the weekend for a squinty, seeping eye. Exam and diagnostics revealed it was most likely a chemical burn from shampoo. We were able to intervene before there was any major damage to the eye and Waffles enjoyed a comfortable weekend at home.
Often, pet owners opt to wait and see if a problem will "resolve" on it's own. We never recommend this with the eye. Besides the fact that very real damage can be done to your pet's vision, eye problems are very painful- so much so that we will generally send systemic pain medication along with any treatment. Waffles is on the mend and we definitely recommend doggles the next time she enjoys a spa day!

Artemis was brought in late one night for lethargy, weakness, and vomiting. After a diagnosis of immune mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA), she was admitted for some intensive hospitalization, TWO blood transfusions, multiple rounds of medications, and RiNoVet TLC. Now Artemis the Teddy Roosevelt Terrier (we also had to look up the breed!) is on the mend!

Today, as we gather to celebrate and give thanks, we want to remind you that we're open and here for your furry family members in case of an emergency. 🏥❤️

Thanksgiving can be a time of fun for pets, but it can also pose some risks. Here's a quick guide to keep your pets safe while they enjoy the festivities with you:

🦃 Safe Treats for Pets:

Plain, cooked turkey (no skin, bones, or seasoning).
Plain veggies like carrots, green beans, and sweet potatoes.
A small serving of mashed potatoes (no butter, garlic, or onion).

🚫 What to Avoid:

Turkey bones and fatty skin (choking hazard & risk of pancreatitis).
Stuffing (often contains onion, garlic, and spices toxic to pets).
Desserts, especially those with chocolate, xylitol, or raisins.
Alcohol and caffeine – these are highly toxic!

🍽️ When in doubt, stick to pet-safe treats to avoid an emergency trip to the vet.

Choose Comfortable Costumes: If dressing up your pet, ensure the costume is comfortable, non-restrictive, and free of small, chewable parts. A festive bandana works too!

Secure Pets Indoors: With frequent doorbell rings, pets may try to escape. Keep them in a safe area away from the door.

We had an absolute blast attending the first annual Denver Dog Days this weekend! 🐾 It was a day full of wagging tails, lots of cuddles, and some of the cutest costumes we’ve ever seen! 🎃🐕 From superheroes to silly hats, the creativity was off the charts.

We loved meeting all of you and your adorable pups, handing out delicious pup cups, and being part of this fun community event. It was great to see so many happy dogs and their amazing owners! 🐶💙

Say hello to Ivy, the sweetest Sphynx with the fiercest RBF (Resting Beautiful Face 😉). Ivy came to us with a corneal ulcer, but despite her tough look, she was an absolute cuddle bug throughout her treatment! 💙🐱

Corneal ulcers in pets can be painful and require quick attention. If you notice your cat squinting, pawing at their eyes, or excessive tearing, it might be a sign of an eye issue that needs treatment.

We’re happy to report that Ivy is healing well and still stealing hearts with her adorable snuggles! 🥰 We’re always here, 24/7, to make sure your pets get the care they need, no matter how tough they look! 🐾
