Unfortunately, the heat will be a little too high to safely have today’s patio etiquette class The risk of heat stroke greatly increases when temperatures are above 90°F.

The class will be made up at a later date. Stay cool out there!

Kanga had a vet appointment yesterday for an ear infection. Our vet requested to have her muzzled since they would be in close proximity to her face and she was in pain.

The previous muzzle training allowed her to be comfortably muzzled while they examined and treated her ear.

Remember, your vet doesn’t know your dog the way you do. All Hurt, scared, and overwhelmed dogs have to potential to bite. Vet staff’s safety takes priority over one’s feelings about muzzles.

Positive associations to being muzzled starts well before your dog is put in a position where they need one!

Practice doesn’t make perfect. It makes permanent. I was told this by a basketball coach many many years ago. If we are striving for perfection from our dogs we will always end up disappointed.

But, as we practice advocating for our dogs and working with them to build habits that help them navigate a HUMAN world , those habits will start to naturally become a permanent behavior.

Dog training is a journey that we practice everyday. What are you practicing with your dog?

Sometimes our dogs just need a little extra help to get through a vet visit. Piper is happy to take a medicated cheese ball a few house before going in. And it all around makes her and the vet staffs time much more enjoyable.
