GREAT NEWS!!! Our wolves are safe.

Great news for Gray Wolves! The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has rejected petitions from hunting groups that aimed to weaken or remove federal protections for gray wolves in the western Great Lakes region and West Coast states. These groups claimed that wolf populations in these areas had recovered enough to justify reduced protections, but federal regulators found no scientific evidence to support these claims.

Without these safeguards, states could reinstate hunting and trapping seasons, as seen in Wisconsin’s 2021 wolf hunt, where 218 wolves were killed in just three days. We commend the and all advocates working to ensure these vital protections remain in place for wolves.

R.i.P

907 F has passed away, probably from the injuries she received during the attack by the Rescue Creek pack several days ago. 11.5 years old and a true alpha in all the best ways. She cared for all her pack, but especially for the puppies each year, watching them closely and teaching them to be strong wolves. There are some alphas, like her late sister 969F, who struggle with leadership and resort to aggressive violence to maintain control. But 907 was one of those good alphas we all admire so much because she had not only physical strength, but also the mental strength and psychological balance to lead without being abusive to other pack members. She was loved and respected by many thousands and she will not soon be forgotten.
