Founded in 1982 as the Animal Rescue and Adoption Society (ARAS), the newly re-branded Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue is a non-profit cat shelter dedicated to providing a home, veterinary care and adoptions for homeless, abused, abandoned and neglected cats and kittens. Existing solely on public donations and fees from memberships, Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue relies on the dedicated support of its members, volunteers, staff and board members.

Poor Bitty hasn't had any interest, and we're heartbroken for her! Will you give this special girl a forever home? 🥹🐾

Bitty is a 6-year-old sweetheart currently thriving in her foster home. At home, she’s a gentle, affectionate cat who loves nothing more than curling up in her foster mom’s lap, soaking up pets, and lounging in sunny spots around the house. While Bitty’s heart is full of love, she does get very stressed during vet visits and in unfamiliar environments, where her fear can make her act defensively. Because of this, she’s looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will give her time to feel safe and secure.

Bitty would do best as the only pet in a calm, adult-only home where she can be the center of attention. With a little patience, she will reward you with endless snuggles and a loyal companionship like no other. 🥹

Sid is currently in foster awaiting a fur-ever home that'll adore him as much as we do! 🥰😺

Sid is a handsome 10-year-old gentleman who came to us after his previous family had kids-something he just wasn’t comfortable with. When Sid first arrived, he was overwhelmed and let us know it in a big way: lunging, hissing, and letting out some impressive screams from his kennel.

But once given time, patience, and the chance to free roam, Sid revealed his true self-and what a transformation! Now he’s a sweet, outgoing boy who adores attention and loves to chat. Don’t let his cranky-sounding meows fool you-that’s just his voice! Sid will happily hang out in boxes, chase after toys, and dance by the door to make sure you don’t forget about him.

Like many cats with big personalities, Sid has his boundaries. He can get overstimulated, but he makes it clear when he’s had enough-look for a puffy tail and quick movements. If pushed, he may give a gentle nibble to remind you of his limits. Because of this, Sid would do best in a calm, adult-only home where his signals are respected.

"Sid is a smart and energetic cat. He loves to play and explore. He's curious and brave with strangers."

We’re not sure yet how Sid feels about other cats or dogs, but we do know this: he’s ready to be someone’s loyal (and very talkative) companion. 🏡

Meet Stardust! A gorgeous and loving Calico girl from Texas! ⭐🐟

She been in foster for over a year with her amazing foster parent while we worked on a medical care plan for her. She does have asthma and requires a daily inhaler puff, and steroid medication as needed. She is on Metabolic C/D food. Here is a little more information from her foster:

"Seeking a patient and confident owner. Stardust is full of personality and takes awhile to warm up to a new home. Her hobbies include hunting her toy mice so she can rip out the stuffing, chasing feather toys, doing floor acrobatics, and being near her owner from a safe 3 ft distance. She adores a good head scratch and makes excellent biscuits while getting brushed.

Due to her asthma she has perfected her comedic timing with dramatic sighs and snorts but requires long term asthma care and careful consideration with low oder litter choice."

Of Note:
"She does light bites when she is overstimulated and intentional big bites when she feels threatened or her light bites are not getting the message across. She is more reactionary when in a new place.
Her coughing fits. Often when she holds her breath like when eating, drinking or cleaning herself.

She will find the most hidden spot and camp out there as long as she can in a new environment - needs a space where she can hide at first in a new environment.
I do think that someday she would love to be a lap cat but takes a lot of trust building.

Somehow the trauma of going back to the shelter for a few nights then coming back to my place made her settle in a lot better and trust that my home is a safe space for her."

Valentino is a special kitty in need of a patient fur-ever home! He is very shy at first but once he opens up he wants nothing but love! 🐱❤

Valentino is a 3 y/o kitty who was found in Texas with 10 puncture wounds on his back end from a dog attack. His finders thought he was feral at first but once he settled down he turned into a total love bug! He was then sent up to us to find him a fur-ever home!

Valentino has been pretty nervous and scared since his arrival and hasn't allowed much handling. We know he just needs time to settle. Once he warms up he can't get enough love! He does great with the other cats and uses the litter box perfectly!

Consider adopting a shyer kitty, it's so rewarding when they open up and the bond is unlike any other! Valentino would be available for foster to adopt. 🥰🐾

Mama Misha keeps getting looked over and it breaks our hearts! Please consider giving this wonderful kitty the home she needs!

This energetic 2-year-old has been through a lot in her young life. Surrendered to a Houston shelter while pregnant, Misha was transferred to us just in time to safely deliver and raise her beautiful kittens. Her babies have all found loving homes, and now it’s Mama Misha’s turn for the spotlight.

Misha is a firecracker wrapped in soft tabby stripes. She’s playful to the core, chasing toys and “investigating” everything with wide-eyed enthusiasm (and very little spatial awareness). If something’s happening, Misha will be in the middle of it.

She’s incredibly sweet-on her own terms-and will happily take over your house, your lap (occasionally), and probably your windowsills. Because of her strong-willed nature and past experiences, she must be the only pet in the home-she prefers to be the queen of her castle. Mama Misha would also do best in a home without children.

If you're looking for a bold, entertaining, one-of-a-kind cat to brighten your days and keep life interesting, Mama Misha is your girl. She’s done taking care of others-now she’s ready to be taken care of.

Georgie has a heartbreaking past, but he's learning to love and trust again. Will you give him the fur-ever home he deserves? 🥹❤

Georgie was found as a stray and is currently in foster with his finders, waiting for his forever home. He is about 7.5 years old. Here is what his fosters have to say about him:

"Georgie showed up at our front door hungry, scared and in bad shape. Our vet thinks he was attacked by a dog and, judging by his behavior, abused by his previous family. In the last few months, he has put on weight and is a healthy, happy boy. With some patience and love, he is now affectionate, playful and has become a wonderful little companion. Georgie has a big appetite and loves any and all snacks. He is also very full of energy and loves to play with his toys after meals. during the day you can find him lying in his cat bed in the window. He is affectionate but also has his boundaries and will gently tap you if he’s annoyed. I think Georgie is best suited to be an only child with patient, loving owners who will accept him for the wonderful boy he is. Another positive thing to note is that he doesn’t jump on counters and he only scratches his scratch pad."

Remember Kiki, now named Pixel? The shy, but oh-so-sweet, fur-ever kitten? Well, she’s thriving and absolutely loving the house cat life! 🥳❤

Pixel came to us after her previous owner had to move into a long-term care facility. Understandably, she was a little timid at first, and it took her several weeks to truly open up and let her personality shine. But once she did, she became a wonderful, loving cat!

We recently received this heartwarming update from her family:
"Hello! I wanted to give a little update on Kiki (now renamed Pixel) that I adopted on the 2nd! She is doing so well and loves to snuggle on the couch and play with our fishing rod toy. She spent about a couple hours in a small space as we acclimated her into her new home, but before the night ended she was meowing to get out to explore and plop on the couch with us and watch the cars go by."

Happy tails, Pixel, you’ve found your perfect home! 🥰

Mama Oreo is a 3-year-old sweetheart who came to us through a rescue partner in Texas. When she first arrived, she was a bit shy and unsure, but with time and gentle care, she’s truly come out of her shell.

Now, Mama Oreo is a mellow, affectionate kitty who enjoys lounging on soft beds and quietly watching the world go by. She loves the occasional cuddle or play session but is perfectly content spending her days in peaceful comfort. Mama Oreo gets along well with other cats, though she appreciates a slow introduction and time to adjust. She’s also fully litter box trained and has lovely manners.

If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion with a gentle soul, Mama Oreo may be the perfect addition to your home. 😺

Rita is a 1.5-year-old sweetheart with a big personality and an even bigger heart. 😺❤

Rita is outgoing, confident, and loving, always eager for pets, playtime, or a soft bed to curl up in for snuggles. Rita has a way of making you feel special the moment she looks at you.

Her story began in Texas, where she was born to Mama Melody-a cat who spent over a year in our care before finding her forever home. Rita was brought to us as a kitten, and while she was once adopted, she was sadly returned. This was through no fault of hers or her adopters, Rita simply thrives best as the only pet in a quiet home, where she can truly be the queen she was meant to be. 🥹

She has perfect litter box manners, plenty of love to give, and is ready to share her days with someone who will adore her as much as she adores them. Rita has already overcome so much in her young life, and we know the right family is out there waiting for her.
